If I could give negative stars, I most certainly would. I had been bringing my dog to this exact location for the past 4 years. Once covid hit we had to do drop off appts only and even after the pandemic calmed, this never seemed to change. The 2nd to last time I brought my dog there, I needed them to also check her for a uti. Which was never done. Once I mentioned it again at pick up, they sent me with supplies to collect it myself. They had her the entire day and claimed she wouldn't use the restroom. I know my dog, and she can pee every 2 hours. Nothing has ever been properly addressed during these drop off appts. The time after that I dropped my dog off because she was sick. I told them she had been vomiting and having diarrhea. They ignored the ACTUAL REASON my dog was there and DECIDED IT WAS BEST TO GIVE HER IMMUNIZATIONS!!!!!!!! Which if you have pets, or hell even kids, then you know that these immunizations can cause the same exact symptoms of what I was bringing her in for in the first place to be seen!! I honest to God couldn't believe such a major mistake was made by their team. This most recent time i tried to get her in for an emergency appt. Her allergies are tearing her up. She is scratching at her nose, mouth, eyes, biting on her paws, legs, scratching almost constantly. Her nose and mouth have just about become bare. I was told since I only do appts where I want to be present, they couldn't get me in for 2 weeks. Then I was placed on hold, she came back and told me they could do I think 2 days from the day I called. BUT only at 11am. I said that wouldn't work for me bc I had classes. This woman told me "well that's the best we can do..that's all we can do". She didn't even try to work with me any further. The professionalism lacks at this location. This is honestly the WORST CLINIC to trust your animals in their care.If you care about your pet, steer clear from this clinic!!!!

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital in Gastonia, located at 3698 E Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28056, USA. As a part of the "Pet Hospital" category, Banfield aims to provide a range of veterinary services to the pet community in Gastonia, North Carolina. You can contact them by phone at (704) 824-0004 or via their mobile number +1 704-824-0004 for inquiries or to schedule appointments. However, it is important to consider recent customer feedback regarding appointment procedures and service experiences.
As a well-known chain of pet hospitals, Banfield Pet Hospital typically offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services. These often include routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, microchipping, and treatment for illnesses and injuries. They may also offer more specialized services depending on the location and the expertise of the veterinary staff. Additionally, Banfield often promotes wellness plans that bundle preventative care services at a set monthly or annual fee. While the reviews provided do not explicitly detail specific goods for sale beyond medications and preventative treatments administered during appointments, it is common for veterinary hospitals to offer such items.
The environment and operational procedures at the Gastonia Banfield Pet Hospital appear to have shifted, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic. One long-term customer notes a change from in-person appointments to mandatory drop-off appointments, a policy that seemingly persisted even after the pandemic eased. This customer expresses dissatisfaction with the quality of care received during these drop-off appointments, citing instances where specific health concerns were not addressed, and a significant error occurred when their sick dog was given immunizations that mimicked her existing symptoms. This suggests a potential disconnect in communication and attention to detail during these drop-off procedures. In contrast, a more recent review from a new customer describes a positive experience during a check-up and vaccine booster appointment for their newly adopted cat. This customer noted that they were seen promptly, the staff was friendly, and they felt their cat was well-cared for. However, they did mention that the appointment felt somewhat rushed.
The services offered at the Gastonia Banfield Pet Hospital, based on the reviews, include routine check-ups, vaccinations (including booster shots), and potentially diagnostic services as implied by the missed UTI check. The negative review raises concerns about the thoroughness of these services during drop-off appointments and the attentiveness of the staff to the primary reasons for a pet's visit. The administration of immunizations to a sick animal, as reported, is a serious concern regarding the clinic's standard of care in certain situations. On the other hand, the positive review indicates that routine wellness visits and vaccinations can be handled efficiently. The difficulty experienced by the long-term customer in scheduling an emergency appointment where they could be present also highlights potential limitations in their appointment scheduling flexibility and communication regarding available time slots.
Several features of the Gastonia Banfield Pet Hospital can be identified from the customer feedback. One potential feature is their online cost estimator, which was appreciated by a new customer for providing price transparency. The affordability of their services was also mentioned as a positive aspect by this reviewer, who indicated they would return for future care. However, a significant negative feature highlighted by a long-term customer is the mandatory drop-off appointment policy and the perceived decline in the quality and attentiveness of care associated with this procedure. The lack of flexibility in scheduling appointments, particularly for owners who wish to be present, and the reported communication issues with the front office staff also stand out as potential drawbacks. The stark contrast between the two reviews suggests that the quality of service and the overall experience may vary significantly depending on the circumstances of the visit.
Currently, the provided information does not explicitly mention any specific promotional offers or wellness plans for the Gastonia Banfield Pet Hospital. However, Banfield as a national chain is known for offering Optimum Wellness Plans, which are membership-based packages that include preventative care services like routine exams, vaccinations, and parasite control for a monthly or annual fee. It is advisable for local users to inquire directly with the Gastonia location about the availability and details of these wellness plans or any other current promotions they might be offering.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. While one new customer reported a positive experience with transparent pricing and affordable routine care, a long-term customer expressed significant dissatisfaction with the mandatory drop-off appointment policy, citing instances of overlooked health concerns, a serious error in treatment, and difficulties in scheduling timely appointments where the owner could be present. This discrepancy suggests potential inconsistencies in service quality or changes in operational procedures that may affect the overall customer experience. Local users considering Banfield in Gastonia should weigh these contrasting experiences and may want to inquire specifically about their current appointment policies and the level of owner involvement allowed during examinations and treatments.

Apr 11, 2025 · Carrie BoneyI took my newly adopted cat to Banfield yesterday. She needed a check up and a vaccine booster. We saw Dr. Lynn. We were in the room at our scheduled appointment time. The staff was friendly and they took good care of my cat. Overall, I felt that the appointment was a little bit rushed but my cat is healthy, so I suppose there was no reason for the appointment to be longer than necessary. I was able to estimate how much the appointment would cost online and the total was similar to what I expected. I appreciate that they are transparent and upfront about their pricing. I thought the services were affordable and I will be back in a year.
Jan 11, 2020 · Megan AlissaI’ve been bringing my fur babies here for many many years. The staff and the providers here go above and beyond and are such a blessing to visit with. It makes a heart feel so warm when they know who we are when we have to visit with them. Thank you Banfield Gastonia for always making sure my babies were/are well taken care of and treated like they were your own.
Sep 16, 2024 · Cissy Usery (Carolina Wild Birds)Our dog Onyx is going to be 2 years old this month. We used Banfield the whole time. The staff is great. I like how they call when Onyx is ready and explains everything they have done. We pick him up and they go over everything in writing. We love how they take care of our baby. He's happy and so are we.
Aug 14, 2023 · Clarence ThomasI just wanted to shout out Sam the nurse. Not only was she very friendly but she went above and beyond by searching my pets shot records that weren’t coming up in the system. She saved me money and saved my Gracie from having to get another rabies shot! Thank you Sam for being so diligent and caring.
