I have been taking my pets to Banfield for 15 years. All my pets have been on their wellness plans. Over the years, I’ve probably paid 100k for a dog and 6 cats. In the past 5, I have never seen the same vet or tech and have had to wait an hour, even with an appointment because my pet won’t be seen without one. I took my dying cat there only to be told by this obnoxious nurse that the vets don’t come in until 9am. She told me to take him to a hospital but be prepared because he would die before I got there. No compassion, no nothing. Why would I drive all the way to a pet hospital knowing that he’d die before I got there? He died before I even got out of the parking lot. I ended up taking him to the Universal City Animal Hospital to have them check that he was really gone. Every person in that office consoled me, didn’t charge me for pronouncing him dead, and made me feel like Sox was the most important pet there. In the end I paid to have him cremated through them. I will never take another pet there. They are so focused on cramming as many pets in to be seen, they’ve lost their compassion entirely. Especially the nurse that I saw.

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce

For pet owners in Selma, Texas, and the surrounding areas seeking a "Pet Hospital" for their animal companions, Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 8278 Agora Pkwy, Selma, TX 78154, USA, is a local option. They can be contacted at (210) 658-7955 or +1 210-658-7955. Recent customer reviews present a mixed picture of the services and care provided at this location, with experiences ranging from long-term satisfaction with wellness plans to deeply negative encounters concerning compassion and appointment management.

One long-term customer reported using Banfield for 15 years for multiple pets, enrolling them in wellness plans and estimating a significant expenditure over that time. However, their recent experiences have been less positive. They noted a lack of consistency in attending veterinarians and technicians over the past five years and frequent hour-long wait times, even with scheduled appointments (which are reportedly mandatory for seeing a pet). This customer shared a particularly distressing experience involving their dying cat, alleging a lack of compassion from a nurse who reportedly informed them that a veterinarian would not be available until 9 am and suggested taking the pet to an emergency hospital, predicting the cat would die en route. The cat subsequently died in the parking lot. This отзыв highlights a severe concern regarding the perceived lack of empathy and timely care in a critical situation, leading the customer to vow never to return and to share their negative experience.

Conversely, another customer expressed strong satisfaction with their Banfield care team, specifically mentioning their understanding and concern for their service animal. This reviewer praised the team's attentiveness to their concerns and their help in managing care expectations. They also highlighted the positive and cohesive team environment, from the receptionist to the doctors, and specifically acknowledged a staff member named Sandy for her excellent service. This отзыв presents a contrasting view, emphasizing a positive and caring experience with the veterinary team.

As a "Pet Hospital," Banfield Pet Hospital likely offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services. Based on the customer reviews, we can infer some of these services:

Wellness Plans: The first отзыв extensively mentions enrolling pets in wellness plans for routine and preventative care, indicating that Banfield offers such subscription-based healthcare packages for pets.

Vaccinations: Routine vaccinations would likely be included within the wellness plans and are a standard service at most pet hospitals.

General Veterinary Care: As a full-service animal hospital, Banfield would offer examinations, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, and management of chronic conditions.

Emergency Care (Limited Hours): The negative отзыв suggests that while they operate as a pet hospital, there may be limitations on immediate emergency care availability, particularly before regular hours.

Appointment-Based Services: The отзыв mentions the necessity of appointments to be seen, indicating a scheduled service model.

Potential for Boarding: While not explicitly stated as a service received, the expectation of a pet hospital often includes boarding facilities for animals needing overnight or extended stays.

Features of Banfield Pet Hospital that can be gleaned from the reviews include:

Wellness Plan Focus: A significant aspect of Banfield's model appears to be their emphasis on wellness plans for ongoing pet care.

Potentially Experienced Staff: The long-term customer's initial satisfaction over 15 years suggests that the hospital has had experienced staff members at various points.

Team-Based Approach (Positive Experiences): The second reviewer highlighted a cohesive and caring team, indicating that some customers experience a positive and well-coordinated service.

However, potential drawbacks include:

Inconsistency in Veterinary and Technician Staff: The long-term customer noted a lack of consistent personnel over recent years, which can impact continuity of care and the development of a strong veterinarian-client-patient relationship.

Long Wait Times: Even with appointments, significant wait times appear to be a recurring issue for some customers.

Potential Lack of Empathy (Isolated Incidents): The negative отзыв raises serious concerns about the lack of compassion shown by at least one staff member in a critical situation.

Promotional information for Banfield Pet Hospital is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, common promotions offered by veterinary hospitals, particularly those with a wellness plan model, might include:

Discounts on Wellness Plan Enrollment: Special offers for new pets or during specific enrollment periods.

Bundled Service Discounts: Savings for combining multiple services, especially within wellness plans.

Free Initial Examinations (for new wellness plan sign-ups): To incentivize enrollment.

Loyalty Rewards: Benefits for long-term wellness plan members or for referring new clients.

Local pet owners in Selma, TX, considering Banfield Pet Hospital as their "Pet Hospital" should carefully consider the contrasting experiences shared by these reviewers. The convenience and potential cost-effectiveness of wellness plans may be attractive to some, as highlighted by the long-term customer's initial длительность of patronage. However, the reported issues with appointment wait times and the serious allegation of a lack of compassion in a critical situation are significant concerns that potential clients should be aware of. The positive отзыв offers a more reassuring perspective on the care team's empathy and cohesion. Ultimately, individuals may want to weigh these factors and potentially visit the facility or speak with staff to form their own assessment of whether Banfield Pet Hospital meets their needs and expectations for pet care.

In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Selma, TX, offers wellness plans and a range of veterinary services. While some customers report positive experiences with a caring team, others have raised concerns about staff consistency, long wait times, and instances of perceived lack of compassion. Local pet owners should consider these differing perspectives when making decisions about their pet's healthcare.

I love my Banfield care team!! I feel like they understand my connection and concern for my service animal, Gryffy, and they listen to my concerns and help me manage my expectation of care. Plus, as importantly, they all get along and provide a cohesive, caring team from the vet receptionist, vet tech, to the team of doctors. I'm very grateful for everyone of them, but specifically Sandy!

Wow, stellar customer service. My cat Ten is my ESA & I only needed to make sure he didn't have a chest infection. I'm on a budget. Dr Montoya & the staff went above & beyond to accommodate us. He's fine, a little over weight, but his lungs are fine. I'll be going back! THANK YOU ALL.

This was our first stop when my dog appeared to have an eye injury. We were really nervous and called for an appointment. Our appointment was accidently cancelled. I called back to confirmed the appointment date and time and the staff made me an appointment at that time.
