I thought they were doing a decent job until I went to a specialty cat clinic and realized how budget price from Banfield leads to budget quality care. This location admittedly was having vet staffing issues which may have contributed. I admit that the staff are nice, just the quality of care delivered is the issue One of our cats has arthritis and we were offered very limited options for helping her. We were getting the cats dental cleanings that were part of the care plan and thought things were fine but after taking them to another vet one of them ended up having a tooth abscess. There were also significant delays in getting refills for medications Finally, not this Banfield but another one, we had to push them to do studies and get our cat on a special diet so he would stop having bloody diarrhea. Not sure if I’d recommend Banfield to others anymore after I’ve seen how much better care is elsewhere

Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital

Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 85 Main St, Stoneham, MA 02180, USA, operates within the platform category of Pet Hospitals, providing a range of veterinary services and products for pet owners in the Stoneham area. As a national chain of veterinary clinics, Banfield aims to offer accessible and comprehensive pet healthcare. This introduction will delve into the potential environment, services, and features of the Stoneham location, while also considering feedback from online reviews to provide a balanced perspective for local users.

Regarding the environment of the Banfield Pet Hospital in Stoneham, it is likely to reflect the standardized model often found in Banfield locations. This typically includes examination rooms for consultations and treatments, surgical suites for various procedures, and potentially on-site diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines and laboratory facilities for blood work and other tests. The aim is to create a clean and functional space where pets can receive medical attention. However, specific details about the ambiance or recent renovations at the Stoneham location are not available in the provided information. It's worth noting that one review mentions potential vet staffing issues at this location, which could impact the overall environment and service delivery.

In terms of services, Banfield Pet Hospitals generally offer a broad spectrum of veterinary care for cats and dogs. These typically include routine wellness examinations, vaccinations, parasite prevention (flea, tick, and heartworm), and nutritional counseling. They also commonly provide dental care services, which may range from routine cleanings to more complex dental procedures. Surgical services, such as spays, neuters, and other soft tissue surgeries, are usually available. For diagnostics, Banfield often offers in-house laboratory testing and imaging capabilities to aid in the diagnosis of various illnesses and conditions. Furthermore, as the name suggests ("Pet Hospital"), they are equipped to handle certain medical treatments for sick or injured pets, although the level of specialty care may vary.

A significant feature often associated with Banfield is their Optimum Wellness Plans. These are subscription-based plans that bundle various preventive care services, such as routine check-ups, vaccinations, and certain diagnostic tests, into a monthly fee. The intention is to make routine care more affordable and encourage regular veterinary visits. However, it is crucial for pet owners to carefully evaluate the terms and conditions of these plans to determine if they align with their pet's individual needs and their own financial considerations. One review explicitly mentions these "insurance" plans (referring to them as a subscription plan) and suggests potential pressure to enroll, alongside concerns about pricing structures for standalone services.

Based on the provided customer reviews, several concerns have been raised regarding the quality of care, treatment options, and pricing practices at Banfield Pet Hospital. One reviewer expressed that experiencing care at a specialty cat clinic highlighted a perceived difference between Banfield's "budget price" and the "budget quality care" received. This review also mentioned potential vet staffing issues at the Stoneham location as a contributing factor. Another customer reported limited options for managing their cat's arthritis and a case where a dental cleaning under a care plan seemingly missed a developing tooth abscess, which was later discovered by another veterinarian.

Furthermore, a review noted "significant delays in getting refills for medications," which can be a critical issue for pets requiring ongoing treatment. Another experience described pushing a different Banfield location to pursue specific studies and dietary changes for a cat with bloody diarrhea, suggesting a potential need for more proactive or specialized care in some cases. The overarching sentiment of one reviewer was a decline in recommendation for Banfield due to perceived better care elsewhere.

Several reviews also focused on pricing and the promotion of wellness plans. One reviewer alleged that pricing information might be misrepresented to encourage office visits, followed by pressure to enroll in their subscription-based "insurance" plan. Concerns were raised about being required to pay for a full check-up at each visit, even if a recent check-up had occurred, especially when opting out of the monthly plan. This reviewer concluded by suggesting that Banfield prioritizes financial gain over animal care. These reviews collectively paint a picture where some customers have experienced concerns regarding the thoroughness of care, the availability of treatment options, medication management, and the transparency and fairness of pricing and wellness plan enrollment.

Given these reviews, local users considering Banfield Pet Hospital in Stoneham should be aware of these potential issues. While the staff is acknowledged as "nice" in one review, the primary concerns raised pertain to the quality of medical care, the limitations of treatment options in some cases, potential delays in medication refills, and the pricing structure, particularly in relation to the wellness plans. It is advisable for pet owners to ask detailed questions about treatment options, medication protocols, and all associated costs before committing to services or wellness plans.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information provided for the Banfield Pet Hospital in Stoneham. As a national chain, Banfield may occasionally offer promotions for new clients or specific services, but this information is not available in the given data. Local users interested in potential promotions should contact the Stoneham location directly at (781) 954-5942 or +1 781-954-5942 to inquire. They may also find information on the Banfield corporate website or through other online channels if specific promotions are being offered in the Stoneham area.

In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Stoneham, MA, offers a range of veterinary services as part of a national chain of Pet Hospitals. While they provide standard veterinary care and wellness plans, potential local users should consider the concerns raised in online reviews regarding the quality of care in certain situations, limitations in treatment options, medication refill delays, and pricing practices associated with their wellness plans. It is recommended to conduct thorough research, ask detailed questions, and potentially seek second opinions to ensure the chosen veterinary care aligns with your pet's specific needs and your expectations. The "budget price" mentioned in one review may come with trade-offs in the scope or quality of care received, as perceived by some customers. Therefore, a careful evaluation is warranted for pet owners in the Stoneham area considering Banfield Pet Hospital for their animal companions.

They'll lie over pricing to get you into the office then they will try to force you to get their "insurance" which isn't actual pet insurance just a subscription plan to Banfield. If you don't want to pay the minimum $45 a month they require you to do a full check up each time you go in for an added $105 just for a $37 round of shots. Even if at your last appointment, which was less than 2 weeks prior, your animal had a full check up and they said they are in purrfect health. If you want to go to a place that cares solely on money and not animal care, this place is for you!!

Highly recommend Banfield in Stoneham for your furry friend health care needs. The staff is very helpful and always courteous. My Alis receives the best care there. So happy I decided to bring her there.

Very upsetting experience today. For the first time in my life, the vet today at the Stoneham location was condescending and nasty regarding my dogs dental visit. The vet also tried to accuse me of trying to have him commit insurance fraud regarding writing his “findings” when my dog does not even have insurance!! Truly flabbergasted by his unprofessional demeanor. The rest of the staff was lovely and very helpful but because of the behavior by the DVM I will now be transferring care to another location.

Dr John Paul Bialasik is fantastic! My aging dog has been in to see him a couple of times over the past month. Dr. B has been thorough and kind. I highly recommend him. Additionally, the tech and receptionist were wonderful.
