The environment of the Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital is likely tailored to the specific needs of the diverse range of animals they serve. Unlike a traditional veterinary clinic that primarily caters to cats and dogs, this hospital would be equipped to accommodate birds of various sizes, reptiles, small mammals, and other exotic species. This might include specialized housing such as appropriately sized cages and enclosures, temperature and humidity-controlled environments for reptiles, and quiet areas to minimize stress for sensitive species. The examination rooms would likely be equipped with specialized tools and equipment necessary for handling and diagnosing these unique pets, reflecting the expertise required for their care.

As a specialized Pet Hospital, the services offered at the Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital would be comprehensive and focused on the particular health concerns of avian and exotic animals. Routine wellness examinations are crucial for these pets, as they can often hide signs of illness. Dr. Jenkins and his team are likely proficient in conducting thorough physical examinations tailored to each species, assessing parameters specific to birds (like feather condition and beak health), reptiles (like skin shedding and hydration), and small mammals (like dental health and activity levels). They would also be adept at providing guidance on species-specific husbandry, including proper diet, housing, temperature, and lighting requirements, which are critical for preventing illness in exotic pets.

Diagnostic services at this specialized Pet Hospital would likely include a range of tools adapted for avian and exotic patients. These might involve specialized blood tests suitable for smaller blood volumes, imaging techniques like digital radiography with appropriate positioning equipment for different species, and potentially advanced imaging such as ultrasound or endoscopy, depending on the complexity of the case. The hospital may also offer in-house laboratory services for rapid analysis of samples specific to exotic animal physiology.

Surgical services for avian and exotic animals require specialized knowledge and techniques. Dr. Jenkins and his team would likely be experienced in performing a variety of surgical procedures on these species, ranging from routine surgeries like spaying and neutering (where applicable and safe for the species) to more complex procedures addressing specific health issues. Anesthesia for exotic animals often requires careful monitoring and specialized equipment due to their unique physiologies.

Other essential services could include nutritional counseling tailored to the specific dietary needs of different avian and exotic species, management of common diseases and conditions affecting these animals, and emergency care. Given the specialized nature of their practice, they may also offer services like beak trimming for birds, nail trimming for various species, and treatment for specific exotic animal ailments that a general practitioner might not be equipped to handle.

I've been to many vets in the San Diego area, and by far, Dr. Jenkins and his staff are the most caring and efficient I've ever encountered. Dr. Jenkins is world renown in the field of avian medicine, and I have complete trust in his diagnostic and treatment expertise. I'm the co-director of a parrot rescue and would never take our birds to another vet!

Quoted me one price for nail clipping (2) parakeets. Dr. Said clipping not necessary yet !! He OFFERED to Cut off their the inventory ring. after short conversation about them. I went to pay !! I was surprised with a price of $161 31. .......I paid reluctantly, called right away to see if we could settle even at $100.00 . They refused, office mgr threatened to call the Police when I said maybe I can go in person & talk to front desk. Total misquote. I've compared with other Vets. Much Lower.

Brought my pet rabbit here for a second opinion and they had me out the door with my rabbit for under 300 while another vet was trying to get me for 3000. Glad I came here and my rabbits glad we came here.
