Their philosophy centers on delivering high-quality, affordable medicine and services, ensuring that each animal is treated as a priority.
The environment at Augusta Animal Hospital, especially after their move to a new, state-of-the-art facility in 2023, is designed to be welcoming and efficient. The new clinic boasts a spacious lobby with ample seating for pet owners and their furry companions, and even offers hot beverages to enhance comfort during waits. A significant feature is the inclusion of four examination rooms, which allows for more efficient patient flow and reduced wait times. One notable addition is an exam room equipped with a hydraulic lift table, specifically designed to assist with larger or handicapped K9s, demonstrating their commitment to accessibility and ease of care for all patients. They also have a dedicated "comfort room" with outside access, known for helping pets peacefully and discreetly cross the Rainbow Bridge, highlighting their compassionate approach to end-of-life care. For their furry visitors, the hospital has distinct housing arrangements: a dedicated cat room complete with a TV for feline entertainment, and a dog kennel room offering multiple kennel sizes and large dog runs for bigger breeds. The overall cleanliness of the office, as noted by customer reviews, contributes to a pleasant and hygienic environment for both pets and their owners. This thoughtful design ensures a less stressful experience for animals and a more comfortable visit for their human companions.
Augusta Animal Hospital offers an extensive array of services, covering preventative care, diagnostics, surgery, and more, making it a truly full-service "Pet Hospital." Their preventative health care programs are fundamental, including wellness examinations, vaccinations, and parasite control, vital for maintaining a pet's long-term health. Diagnostic capabilities are robust, featuring in-house laboratory services for same-day results, digital radiography (X-rays), and ultrasound services, allowing for accurate and timely diagnoses. A particular strength highlighted by customer reviews is their dental care. They provide comprehensive small animal dentistry, including prophylaxis (cleanings) and dental X-rays using a new iM3 dental X-ray machine, ensuring thorough assessment and treatment of oral health issues. Surgical services are also a cornerstone of their offerings, encompassing small animal medicine and surgery, from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex interventions. They also offer a surgical laser for enhanced precision and reduced recovery times. Beyond traditional medical services, Augusta Animal Hospital provides microchipping for pet identification, laser therapy for pain management and healing, and cremation services, offering comprehensive support throughout a pet's life and beyond. This speaks volumes about their ability to minimize stress and make veterinary visits positive experiences for young animals. Another significant feature is their transparency and fair pricing. One customer specifically mentioned that the pricing for a dental cleaning was "lower than originally quoted," which is a rare and highly appreciated aspect of veterinary care, demonstrating their commitment to affordability and integrity. The continuity of high-quality service, as highlighted by a year-later update from a client, reinforces their consistent dedication to patient care. Furthermore, their recent move to a new, state-of-the-art facility signifies a commitment to modern veterinary practices and an enhanced patient experience, with updated equipment and improved amenities like the hydraulic lift table and separate cat room.
While explicit promotional information is not extensively detailed in the provided reviews, the hospital's overall positive reputation and dedication to customer satisfaction serve as powerful promotional tools. Word-of-mouth recommendations, as indicated by the initial review, are clearly a strong driver of new client acquisition. As is common in the veterinary industry, Augusta Animal Hospital likely leverages its strong client relationships to encourage referrals, possibly through informal or formal referral programs. Given their commitment to affordability and high-quality care, they may also engage in promotional activities such as offering new client specials, discounted initial examinations, or seasonal promotions for specific services like dental cleanings or vaccinations. The online pharmacy partnership with Vetsource could also be promoted as a convenient benefit for clients. Their regular business hours, Monday through Friday, with varying end times, and their consistent phone numbers ((304) 496-7746 and +1 304-496-7746) ensure accessibility for scheduling appointments. The continued appreciation for their work, as stated in the updated review, acts as a powerful ongoing endorsement, demonstrating that Augusta Animal Hospital consistently delivers on its promise of excellent and compassionate care, making it a highly reliable and recommended "Pet Hospital" in the Augusta, WV area.

Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. Didn't feel rushed at all and my puppy seemed to have a good experience as well. He didn't even notice when he got his shots. Highly recommend this office!

Apr 09, 2025 · Margie StevensDr. Shaffer and staff are wonderful people that truly care about the animals they treat. They are friendly, have reasonable prices, and are great at what they do. Unfortunately like most good vets you may have to wait a week or more for an appointment. But that's the cost for all I mentioned before.
