Went in for pups first visit and shots. The ladies there were great. Not only extremely courteous but willing to answer my questions and give advice for raising a mini. Also was giving a small bag of food to try out that was tailored for the pup.

Welcome to Athens Animal Hospital
Athens Animal Hospital, located at 475 Riverside Dr, Athens, PA 18810, USA, serves as a dedicated facility within the "Pet Hospital" category, offering a range of veterinary services to the local community. The hospital can be reached by phone at (570) 888-2354 or mobile at +1 570-888-2354, providing a direct line for appointments and inquiries. As a pet hospital, its primary objective is to provide medical care for various small animals, contributing to the health and well-being of local pets.
While specific architectural or interior design details are not extensively described in the provided customer reviews, the nature of "Athens Animal Hospital" implies a professional and functional environment designed for veterinary care. Information from general online searches suggests that Athens Animal Hospital aims to be a comprehensive healthcare facility equipped with "the latest in technology" to provide "the best care possible, both safely and accurately." This commitment to modern equipment would typically manifest in well-maintained examination rooms, a clean and sterile surgical suite, and areas for diagnostic procedures such as X-rays and ultrasound. A professional veterinary setting strives to minimize stress for pets, often incorporating elements like quiet waiting areas, separate cat and dog waiting spaces (if applicable, though not specified here), and comfortable examination tables. The positive feedback highlighting "extremely courteous" ladies and their willingness to answer questions suggests a welcoming and supportive front-office environment, which is crucial for pet owners, especially during a pet's first visit. The overall atmosphere likely balances clinical efficiency with a friendly and reassuring demeanor to put both pets and their owners at ease.
As a full-service "Pet Hospital," Athens Animal Hospital is expected to provide a wide array of veterinary services essential for the comprehensive care of small animals. Based on information generally available for veterinary hospitals of this nature, and some specific details found online, their services likely include:
- Preventative and Wellness Care: This is foundational for pet health and typically includes routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations (such as for rabies, parvovirus, Lyme, Bordetella, and feline leukemia), parasite prevention and control (fleas, ticks, heartworm), and nutritional counseling. The mention of providing a "small bag of food to try out that was tailored for the pup" during a first visit indicates attention to dietary needs, a key component of preventative care.
- Diagnostic Capabilities: To accurately diagnose conditions, the hospital is likely equipped with in-house laboratory services for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal analysis. Digital X-ray facilities are explicitly mentioned, crucial for evaluating bones, organs, and identifying foreign objects. Ultrasound diagnostics are also listed as available, offering more detailed internal imaging.
- Surgical Procedures: General surgical procedures are a standard offering, including routine spaying and neutering. The hospital would have the necessary facilities and trained staff to perform various soft tissue surgeries.
- Dental Care: Oral health is critical for pets, and services often include on-site dental X-rays and dental cleanings to prevent and address periodontal disease.
- Specialized Treatments: The hospital offers more advanced treatments such as acupuncture and cold laser therapy, which can be beneficial for pain management, inflammation, and healing in certain conditions.
- Microchipping: This important service helps in the identification and recovery of lost pets.
- Pharmacy Services: A fully stocked pharmacy would ensure that prescribed medications are readily available for clients.
- Geriatric Pet Care: Tailored care plans for older pets, addressing age-related health issues and maintaining their quality of life.
The combination of these services positions Athens Animal Hospital as a comprehensive care provider for common companion animals.
The feedback provided highlights two distinct facets of Athens Animal Hospital's features:
- Highly Courteous and Informative Staff: One customer lauded the "ladies there were great," describing them as "extremely courteous" and "willing to answer my questions and give advice for raising a mini." This speaks to a strong emphasis on client education and a friendly, supportive front-line team, which is vital for building trust and ensuring a positive experience, especially for new pet owners navigating their pet's initial care. The provision of tailored food samples further illustrates a proactive and helpful approach to pet welfare.
- Diagnostic Outcome Concerns: Conversely, another review presents a severe concern regarding diagnostic accuracy and patient outcome. The user states that their dog, Zeke, "became very ill," but after a visit, the "Vet said nothing wrong with my dog," only for the dog to die a week and a half later. This tragic experience points to a significant issue with clinical assessment or communication, raising questions about the thoroughness of the examination or the accuracy of the diagnosis in that specific instance. While a single negative outcome does not define an entire practice, it highlights the critical importance of diagnostic precision and client communication in veterinary medicine.
While no specific promotional offers are detailed, the positive customer testimony about the welcoming staff and helpful advice for a new puppy serves as organic promotion. Word-of-mouth recommendations, especially from satisfied clients receiving courteous service and practical advice, are invaluable in a community setting. The offer of a "small bag of food to try out" for the pup during its first visit functions as a subtle promotional gesture, introducing clients to potential products and demonstrating the clinic's commitment to holistic pet well-being. The clinic's physical address (475 Riverside Dr, Athens, PA 18810, USA) and contact numbers ((570) 888-2354 / +1 570-888-2354) are essential public information, serving as the primary means for local residents to access their services. For any veterinary facility, consistent positive experiences, combined with clear communication and a commitment to animal welfare, are the most effective forms of long-term promotion, fostering trust and loyalty within the community.

May 22, 2025 路 Alan CookMy dog Zeke became very ill. I took him to see the vet. Vet said nothing wrong with my dog. A week and a half later, my dog died! I'd go elsewhere, before taking my animals here.馃槶
Mar 25, 2025 路 Theresa FlendersTook care of my baby ! You would never even know what she went through, and the price was reasonable !
Apr 04, 2025 路 Bahb CornieI'm a regular established client here. The vet always rushes in and out. Just brought a rescue cat in they said she was heavily pregnant. The cat has severe skin issues and is self mutilating. She just said it was allergies but didn't offer any sort of treatments. Brought her to ACS sanctuary a week later and several vets and clinicians palpated my rescue and did X-Rays. No pregnancy and has an infection and is now on steroids and antibiotics. I spend a lot of my own money on rescues. To much to have to take a cat to multiple vets to get simple answers and diagnostics. Don't think I'm going to continue wasting my time and hard earned money on my resident cats or my rescues here!
Mar 26, 2025 路 Janelle RobbinsMy animals have been going here for years. They are friendly, and thorough. It helps that my animals trust the staff at AAH. As a rescue, my dog doesn't trust many people. He always gets a treat after his visit, and lots of love from the staff. The offices, lobby, and exam rooms are very clean and animal proof. They offer after hours emergency services for their clients (which is a major bonus!!!) Prices are very affordable. They really could get away with charging more. AAH will be my pets forever vet. Why change something that is so perfect? We love them. If you are thinking about taking your pet there, you will NOT regret it. Dr. Christiansn is the best!
