When I first found out that I was pregnant, I was so excited for my dog to meet his new best friend! I had visions of newborn cuddles on the couch and shared food falling from the high chair. We let him hang out in the nursery, set up baby gates ahead of time, and played soundtracks of baby cries and coos. My dog was always so curious and licking my growing belly - which had to be a good sign. Right? So you can imagine my horror when I brought my tiny new baby home from the NICU and my dog was not only barking and growling, but lunging at the baby through the baby gate. If his response to the baby wasn't scary enough, his response to me was downright heartbreaking. My best friend of eight years acted as though he had no idea who I was. My first night home was spent tearfully calling my veterinarian and praying that there was a way that I could keep everyone safe together. My veterinarians first words of advice were to call Dr. Cutler right away. Through (likely audible) sobs I explained my situation and never received a hint of judgement. Tricia and Candy were so sweet and gave me tips to keep everyone safe until we could get in to see Dr. Cutler. I was also given information for a trainer who specialized in baby-dog issues. With everyone's help, we were able to determine that anxiety was the trigger and not a prey drive. We were able to pinpoint my dog's anxiety sources and find interventions to make him more comfortable. My family is now complete, and most importantly - safe and happy! My baby is now five months old and my dog is comfortable hanging out with us in and outside of the home. We go for "pack walks" together and my dog comes to "get mom" when the baby starts to fuss from her naps. I truly thought that I would have to rehome or forever separate my dog. But thanks to the help of The Behavior Clinic, we are able to stay together and do so safely. I am forever indebted to them and grateful!

Welcome to At Home Vet Care
At Home Vet Care, located at 83 Todd Rd, Katonah, NY 10536, USA, redefines the concept of a "Pet Hospital" by bringing professional and compassionate veterinary care directly to your doorstep. This innovative mobile service aims to provide high-quality medical and behavioral services within the familiar and comfortable environment of a pet's own home, significantly reducing the stress and anxiety often associated with traditional clinic visits. You can reach them at (914) 301-5250.
The core philosophy of At Home Vet Care is centered on providing care where pets feel most at ease—their home. This eliminates the need for stressful car rides, crowded waiting rooms, and the unfamiliar smells and sounds of a clinic. For pets that experience anxiety, car sickness, or aggression in clinical settings, this model is particularly beneficial. It also offers unparalleled convenience for pet owners with demanding schedules, those with multiple pets, individuals with mobility challenges, or families with young children. Dr. Sarah J. Cutler, who has over two decades of experience in veterinary medicine across Westchester County and Manhattan, leads the practice. When Dr. Cutler arrives for a house call, she brings a veterinary assistant, a portable scale, and all the necessary equipment to conduct a comprehensive physical exam and various diagnostic tests right there. This allows for a more relaxed and accurate assessment of your pet's health and behavior within their natural surroundings, often revealing insights that might be overlooked in a clinic environment.
At Home Vet Care provides a comprehensive range of veterinary services, all delivered with the convenience of a house call:
- General Medical Care: This includes routine wellness examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations, preventative medicine tailored to your pet's lifestyle, and specialized senior wellness exams. Dr. Cutler performs thorough physical assessments and provides personalized recommendations based on your pet's individual needs and any concerns you may have.
- Diagnostic Testing: The team can perform most common blood and urine tests during the home visit. This capability allows for timely diagnosis and monitoring of various health conditions, streamlining the diagnostic process and minimizing the need for separate trips to a laboratory.
- Behavioral Consultations: A key specialization of At Home Vet Care lies in its comprehensive behavioral consultations. Dr. Cutler possesses significant expertise in addressing a wide array of behavioral problems in both cats and dogs. These include, but are not limited to, aggression, separation anxiety, various fears and phobias, inappropriate feline elimination (litter box issues), obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and common unruly habits like leash pulling or jumping. Their approach involves a combination of behavior modification techniques, environmental management strategies, and, when appropriate, pharmaceutical intervention. This specialized service is invaluable for pet owners struggling with challenging behavioral issues, aiming to strengthen the human-animal bond and significantly improve the pet's quality of life.
- Hospice Care and In-Home Euthanasia: For pets nearing the end of their lives, At Home Vet Care offers deeply compassionate hospice care and in-home euthanasia services. This allows beloved companions to pass peacefully and with dignity in the familiar comfort of their own home, which greatly minimizes stress for both the animal and their grieving family. The focus during this sensitive time is on pain management and supportive care to ensure the pet's comfort.
- Nutritional Counseling: Expert advice on appropriate dietary plans for pets, addressing specific health requirements, weight management, or medical conditions.
- Primary Case Management and Referrals: While providing extensive in-home care, Dr. Cutler also facilitates seamless communication and information transfer with other veterinarians, including specialists, should a case require advanced interventions not suitable for a house call (e.g., complex surgical procedures or critical emergencies requiring intensive hospital care).
The most compelling feature of At Home Vet Care is its mobile veterinary service. This "vet who comes to your pet" model eliminates the logistical challenges and stress associated with transporting pets to a traditional clinic. For anxious, fractious, or multi-pet households, or for owners with limited mobility or extremely busy schedules, this service proves invaluable. Conducting exams, treatments, and diagnostics in the pet's home allows for a more accurate assessment of their normal behavior and health status, as pets are typically more relaxed and exhibit their true selves in a familiar environment. Dr. Cutler's dedication to understanding the entire animal, including their psychological and behavioral aspects, truly sets this practice apart. She makes an effort to build trust with animals, often sitting on the floor with nervous pets to ensure their comfort, a practice frequently highlighted in client testimonials. This personalized and gentle approach is a cornerstone of their service. Furthermore, Dr. Cutler’s extensive knowledge and willingness to act as a resource for specialist referrals underscore her commitment to providing comprehensive care, even when a case might require advanced intervention outside the scope of mobile services.
At Home Vet Care primarily promotes itself through the unparalleled convenience and individualized attention it provides. The strong emphasis on behavioral consultations is a significant differentiator, attracting clients who might otherwise struggle with traditional veterinary approaches to such issues. Client testimonials serve as powerful promotional tools, showcasing real-life success stories of how Dr. Cutler and her team have transformed challenging situations into harmonious family dynamics. For example, the compelling story of a client whose dog exhibited aggression towards a newborn baby speaks volumes about the clinic's specialized expertise and compassionate support. This highlights their ability to not only treat medical conditions but also to address complex human-animal relationship challenges, which often have profound emotional impact on families.
While specific discount offers are not explicitly detailed, the value proposition lies in the quality of care and convenience that can prevent more costly interventions down the line, particularly concerning behavioral issues. The practice offers flexible payment options, including CareCredit, to assist clients in managing healthcare costs. Their service area covers Westchester County and parts of Connecticut, making their specialized in-home veterinary solutions accessible to a broad local population. They also strive to accommodate urgent or same-day appointments when their schedule permits, demonstrating a commitment to flexible and timely care for their clients.
Customer reviews consistently praise At Home Vet Care for its profound empathy, high level of professionalism, and remarkable success in resolving challenging pet issues. One particularly impactful review details a deeply distressing situation where a family dog developed aggression towards a newborn baby. The owner's initial veterinarian immediately recommended Dr. Cutler, and the ensuing experience was described as transformative. The client expressed immense gratitude for the lack of judgment, the helpful tips provided by Tricia and Candy, and the valuable referral to a specialized trainer. Ultimately, Dr. Cutler's diagnosis of anxiety, rather than prey drive, led to effective interventions, allowing the family to safely and happily integrate their beloved dog and new baby. This review powerfully illustrates the practice's ability to handle highly sensitive and complex behavioral cases with exceptional skill and compassion, truly enabling a family to remain together.
Another satisfied client commended the team's punctuality and accommodating nature, emphasizing how they treated their cat, Batman, "as if it was their own pet." This review highlighted the team's affectionate and loving demeanor, seamlessly combined with professionalism. The client also noted the clear communication regarding procedures and observations, along with excellent recommendations provided. These testimonials collectively underscore the core values of At Home Vet Care: unparalleled convenience, personalized attention, and a deep understanding of animal behavior and overall well-being, leading to consistently high-quality and empathetic care for pets and their owners.
