Dr. Bukhanova and staff were gentle and calm and able to do things to my cat Mooshmoosh that I never though she would tolerate! They dealt with an ear lasceration/painful infection and didn't bat an eye when Mooshmoosh shook blood all over them. They gave me plenty of time for answering questions and then the Dr. wanted to know all about the (cat's) diarrhea I'd mentioened to get to the bottom of it. They really care about animals there. Too bad they don't give vaccines, which means they can't be your only veterinarian.

Astoria Animal Emergency Introduce

While Astoria Animal Emergency is located in Astoria, New York, USA, its function as a dedicated emergency veterinary care facility within the 'Pet Hospital' platform category provides crucial insights for pet owners in Singapore. Emergency situations can arise at any time, and understanding the characteristics of a reliable emergency veterinary service is vital, even if direct access to Astoria Animal Emergency is geographically limited. This introduction aims to detail the environment, services, and features of Astoria Animal Emergency based on available customer reviews, highlighting the essential aspects of emergency pet care that are relevant to pet owners in Singapore.

Astoria Animal Emergency operates as a 24/7 walk-in clinic, a significant feature that underscores its commitment to providing immediate care when a pet experiences a sudden illness or injury outside of regular veterinary hours. This accessibility is a cornerstone of emergency veterinary services, ensuring that pet owners have a place to turn to when their primary veterinarian's clinic is closed. The customer reviews offer valuable perspectives on the clinic's environment, the professionalism of its staff, the transparency of its procedures, and the overall quality of care provided during critical times.

A Gentle and Calm Environment in a High-Stress Situation:

One reviewer specifically praised the demeanor of Dr. Bukhanova and the staff, noting they were "gentle and calm" even while dealing with a distressed cat with a painful ear laceration and infection. This ability to remain composed and handle challenging situations with care is a hallmark of a well-run emergency clinic. The reviewer also highlighted the staff's unflappability when the cat shook blood on them, indicating a professional and unfazed approach to emergency care. For pet owners in Singapore facing a pet emergency, finding a clinic with a calm and reassuring environment can significantly ease their stress and help ensure their pet receives the best possible care.

Comprehensive Emergency Services and Thorough Examinations:

The reviews indicate that Astoria Animal Emergency provides thorough examinations and takes the time to understand the pet's overall condition. One customer whose cat had an ear issue mentioned that the doctor also inquired about the cat's diarrhea, demonstrating a holistic approach to the pet's health beyond the immediate emergency. Another reviewer who brought in a kitten for two visits was "highly impressed" with the thoroughness of Dr. Bakhanova's exams and explanations. In emergency situations, a comprehensive assessment is crucial to identify all potential underlying issues and provide appropriate treatment. Pet owners in Singapore would similarly seek emergency veterinary services that prioritize a detailed evaluation of their pet's condition.

Professional, Friendly, and Responsive Staff:

Both reviewers commended the professionalism and positive attitude of the clinic's staff. One described the staff as "friendly and responsive," which is particularly important in emergency situations where pet owners are often anxious and distressed. A supportive and communicative staff can make a significant difference in the overall experience. For pet owners in Singapore dealing with a pet emergency, interacting with a compassionate and efficient team can provide much-needed reassurance and support.

Transparency in Costs and Consent for Procedures:

A crucial aspect highlighted in one of the reviews is the clinic's transparency regarding costs. The reviewer noted that the clinic was "very transparent about costs and will ask for your consent before performing tests/procedures." This ethical practice ensures that pet owners are fully aware of the financial implications of their pet's treatment and can make informed decisions. In emergency situations, where costs can sometimes be a concern, such transparency is highly valued by pet owners everywhere, including in Singapore.

Accessibility and Timeliness of Care:

The fact that Astoria Animal Emergency is a "walk-in" clinic and is "open 24/7" underscores its accessibility for urgent situations. One reviewer mentioned being "seen in a timely manner," which is critical when a pet requires immediate medical attention. For pet owners in Singapore, knowing where to go for immediate care outside of regular hours and experiencing prompt attention can be life-saving for their pets.

Limitations in Services (No Vaccinations):

One reviewer noted a limitation, stating, "Too bad they don't give vaccines, which means they can't be your only veterinarian." This indicates that Astoria Animal Emergency focuses primarily on urgent and emergency care rather than routine preventative services. This distinction is important for pet owners in Singapore to understand – emergency clinics typically specialize in critical situations and may not offer the full range of services provided by a primary veterinary clinic.

Key Features of Astoria Animal Emergency:

  • 24/7 Availability: Providing critical care at any time of day or night.

Relevance for Pet Owners in Singapore:

While direct access to Astoria Animal Emergency is not possible for pet owners in Singapore, the characteristics and positive feedback regarding this clinic highlight the essential qualities of a reliable emergency veterinary service. In Singapore, just as in New York, the availability of a 24/7 walk-in emergency clinic is crucial for addressing sudden and severe health issues in pets. The emphasis on a calm environment, thorough care, professional staff, and transparent communication are all factors that Singaporean pet owners should consider when identifying and utilizing local emergency veterinary facilities.

I brought my kitten in for two visits last week and was highly impressed with the professionalism of this clinic- they take walk-one and are open 24/7. I was seen in a timely manner and the vet Dr. Bakhanova was very through in her exam and explanations, the staff was friendly and responsive. They were also very transparent about costs and will ask for your consent before performing tests/procedures. I highly recommend bringing your pet here if your usual clinic is closed and your pet is having an emergency!

I brought my 4.5 year old Ragdoll here when he had been vomiting for 2 days. They ran a blood panel and X-ray on my cat and found that he had acute kidney failure (he ate something he shouldn’t have). They kept my cat for a few days on IV and did an ultrasound and regular blood work. They also allowed visits with him, which was nice. I don’t feel price gouged by them (vets are expensive without pet insurance) and the price of their X-ray and ultrasound was a little cheaper than my regular vet. I appreciate the detailed explanation of the ultrasound results by Dr Serrano and the regular follow ups and detailed explanation on continuous care from Dr Kanwar. My Ragdoll is home and is doing well.

Dr B was really wonderful, informative, and patient when we brought in my grandmother’s cat for a medical emergency. Ultimately we had to put the cat down but she made sure we were sure in our decision and equipped with all the information needed to make such a call on such short notice. I cannot speak about her highly enough. Unfortunately, we felt the vet tech who manned the front of office was extremely cold and rude. The cat was dying in my arms and he took his time gathering the paperwork necessary to be seen by the vet and simply watched us struggle to transfer the cat from my arms to my grandmas to fill out the paperwork as she cannot see. He seemed annoyed when my grandmother pointed out her last name was misspelled on the cremation paperwork and did a few other things that overall made a very stressful and sad situation harder to deal with. I really did appreciate Dr B’s work so I am happy to give a positive review of this facility and return here if i should have an emergency with my own animal but I really hope they learn the importance of bedside manner.

They were AMAZING! I never write reviews but I will wherever I can about this place. I just got home from bringing in my cat who got her tail smooshed in the door. I am an anxious mess crying (with a mask on it’s even worse) and everyone there from Michele to another lovely girl to the vet Dr. Kanwar I felt so welcomed and nobody was judging. I have had really bad Experiences with vets before and have had a lot of trauma so to be treated so kindly and everyone be so sweet an patient made this terrible ordeal SO MUCH BETTER! Thank you to the staff! I would HIGHLY recommend them to ANYONE! ❤️
