This animal hospital was such a a breath of fresh air. I thought VEG was the only emergency vet that was open late. A.A.H. is open until 10pm, I believe. SO NICE to have this affordable option for emergencies late into the night. I can't remember the name of the vet who helped us, but she was really pretty, pretty eyes and long dirty blonde hair... She was SO NICE AND SO GROUNDING. And SO honest. 10/10. I feel like VEG often does overkill (or redundancy) with their test, so it ends up being 5x more expensive (for good reasons w it being more money, but still). THANK YOU SO MUCH, A.A.H.!! They understand that pet health concerns can arise at any time, and they strive to be a convenient and trustworthy resource for you and your furry, scaled, or feathered friends.
Based on feedback from fellow pet owners in the community, Appalachian Animal Hospital stands out for several compelling reasons. One reviewer described their experience as "a breath of fresh air," particularly highlighting the extended hours. Unlike some emergency veterinary clinics with limited late-night availability, Appalachian Animal Hospital is reportedly open until 10 pm. This is a significant benefit for pet owners who may face unexpected health issues with their animals late in the evening and appreciate having an affordable option for urgent care during these times. The reviewer specifically mentioned a kind, honest, and grounding veterinarian with "pretty eyes and long dirty blonde hair," emphasizing the compassionate and reassuring care provided by the staff.
Another local pet owner shared their positive experiences trusting Appalachian Animal Hospital with their four dogs. They praised the clinic for going "above and beyond" what was asked. For owners of pets with chronic conditions, such as cancer in this reviewer's dog, finding a supportive and understanding veterinary team is crucial. This reviewer felt well-informed about their options and appreciated the care their dogs received. They specifically mentioned Dr. Brunson as being "very knowledgeable." Furthermore, they noted that the prices at Appalachian Animal Hospital are competitive compared to other veterinary options in the area, making quality care more accessible. The availability of urgent care hours was also highlighted as a much-needed service.
While specific details about the hospital's environment aren't explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, the positive feedback regarding the staff's demeanor and the overall experience suggests a welcoming and professional atmosphere. A comfortable and clean environment is typically a priority for reputable pet hospitals, aiming to reduce stress for both pets and their owners. You can likely expect a reception area, examination rooms, and potentially areas for housing and treating animals requiring more extensive care.
In terms of services, based on the positive experiences shared, Appalachian Animal Hospital likely offers a range of essential veterinary care. This would typically include routine check-ups and vaccinations to help keep your pets healthy and prevent illness. They likely provide diagnostic services, which could involve blood work, imaging (such as X-rays), and other tests to identify health issues. Surgical procedures, both routine (like spaying and neutering) and more complex, are often part of the services offered at a comprehensive pet hospital. Dental care is another crucial aspect of pet health, so cleaning and other dental procedures may also be available.
The mention of "urgent care hours" strongly suggests that Appalachian Animal Hospital is equipped to handle more immediate and non-life-threatening health concerns that require prompt attention. This is a valuable feature, providing an alternative to emergency-only clinics for issues that can't wait for a regular appointment but aren't critical enough for a 24/7 emergency facility. The feedback about affordability also suggests a commitment to providing quality care at reasonable prices, which is a significant factor for many pet owners.
While the reviews don't explicitly list goods for sale, many pet hospitals also offer a selection of products to support pet health and well-being. This might include prescription medications, over-the-counter treatments (like flea and tick preventatives), and specialized pet food. It's best to inquire directly with the hospital about the availability of these items.
In summary, Appalachian Animal Hospital appears to be a highly regarded "Pet Hospital" in Weaverville, NC, known for its compassionate and knowledgeable staff, including Dr. Brunson. Key features highlighted by local users include their extended hours until 10 pm, the availability of urgent care services, and their affordability compared to other options in the area. Pet owners appreciate the thorough and caring approach to their animals' health needs. If you are a local pet owner seeking reliable veterinary care, Appalachian Animal Hospital seems like an excellent choice based on the positive experiences shared by your neighbors.

Dec 05, 2024 · AshevilleHandywomanGreat vet option in the area! Trusted them with my four dogs. Went above and beyond what I was asking for. One of my dogs has cancer and I am always a mess when I take him in but they take care of my dogs and are great at letting me know my options. Dr. Brunson is very knowledgeable! The prices are good compared to others in the area. They have urgent care hours which is very much needed. Sad to be moving away from a great vet office!
Apr 30, 2025 · Jessica MantheyI had to take my cat in during their emergency hours. It was her time to go. She was suffering. I didn't want to prolong her suffering. They were very kind and explained the process. They gave me time to say goodbye. They were very compassionate. I recommend them for any of your pet care needs.
