Apex Vets

When I first found my SEVERELY anemic kitten on the side of the road, we brought her to Apex and it felt like they moved heaven and earth to help her. Extremely low red blood cell count, white skin and gums, and barely any energy. They comforted her and explained what needed to happen for my baby Roxie to survive. That was back in October 2024 and today (February 2025), Roxie is a sassy girl who loves running around and looking pretty.

I rarely write reviews but Apex Vet deserves one. Our 9-year old cat showed up on our doorstep in grave distress. It was 11:00 pm. I called our vet and the recording offered two hospitals, Apex Vet and another on Rockville Pike. I called the one on the Pike since it was a bit closer - they were fairly impersonal and said they had a 2-hour wait. I then called Apex and was greeted with a friendly voice that said I should bring our little guy right over and explained to me what I should expect financially. To make a long story short our cat did not make it. But I was so impressed with the staff and their skill, the facility, the compassion, and equally important their communication skills. I also learned they are not a chain - this is their only location - and they don’t offer general services since there are plenty of vets in the area. This adds to my impression of a home-town feel.

Paw-rents, If you are searching for medical care that exceeds the love you have for your pet, Apex Vets is your destination. I have a 10yr old Great Dane named Camden (for Camden Yards iykyk) with a myriad of health concerns and a lengthy patient record (car accident, pancreatitis, toe amputation including consults w/ a board certified oncologist, etc) and the team at Apex has stunningly outperformed all other medical experiences at various facilities. Camden is a geriatric and heavy (170lbs) Great Dane who I brought to Apex Vets for a serious acute injury. The Apex team under Camden's surgeon Dr. Sarowitz have made a stressful, complicated medical situation for me feel manageable and resolvable in a solution oriented approach. I am an anxious helicopter dog Mom, and I've called Apex so many times that I am shocked Verizon hasn't notified me that I have used up my Unlimited Plan :) I cannot say enough in regard to how much I appreciate the team's care, support and attentiveness; their interactions regarding Camden's well-being are on par with that of my own family. Apex stands out because of their amazing service holistically; from my many calls and emails and the patience and care shown throughout, to the prompt and thorough responses by the Vet team, and above all the outstanding expertise, support and warmth by Dr. Sarowitz. We will be returning to Apex for all of Camden's needs and care, although given the quality of care that may not be too often!

So happy we found Apex! This was the best emergency vet experience I’ve had with a pet. Our dog injured her foot at the dog park and we could not wait until Monday to see her primary care vet. We called Apex and they were very transparent about pricing, triage, and expected waits. Once we arrived, everyone from the front desk to the technician and veterinarian was so kind and helpful. Thankfully there was a short wait this morning and she was treated and we were back on our way in about 40 minutes. Agree with others that the environment is very peaceful and spacious, unlike some other urgent care providers. Thank you Dr. Cox, Mary, Gigi, Leslie, and Deb for taking such good care of Sylvia! Hoping we don’t need to return in the future, but so glad to know where to go if we do.

I almost don’t want to post a Google review of Apex so I can keep them a secret and make sure they don’t get overrun! But every pet owner deserves access to an ER vet as caring, compassionate, and affordable as Apex. I recently had to bring my dog, Bear, in for an urgent appointment on a Sunday afternoon to have a puncture wound examined and cleaned out. Apex was wonderful - I called ahead and they gave me an estimate of how long I might wait, which was reasonable enough as is, but they exceeded all my expectations! I came prepared to camp out and wait but it was unnecessary as we were in and out in ~90 minutes. More importantly though, the staff was so welcoming to me and my dog, and every single person we encountered seemed like such a genuine pet lover, fawning over Bear and giving him tons of love and attention, so that a ‘scary’ vet visit became more about making friends, which put both of us at ease for the medical stuff. I was also impressed with their sensitivity toward costs - they are very upfront about the emergency visit fee, and from there, they start with less invasive, and less expensive solutions, before working up if needed. When Bear needed antibiotics, they recommended I get them elsewhere because I would save so much given the quantity needed (he’s 100 lbs). In the same breath, they handed me the written script and GoodRx coupons for not one, but THREE pharmacies. I am so grateful to know Apex is in the neighborhood. I just wish they offered routine care so we could go back more often!
