Dr Martinez and his staff are exceptional. They care for my three cats and my dog. I have had animals for many decades and this is the best vet experience I have had.

Animed Pet Hospital aims to provide comprehensive veterinary care for a variety of pets, primarily cats and dogs, as indicated by the customer reviews. While specific details about the hospital's environment and facilities are not extensively described by the available feedback, it can be inferred that the clinic is equipped to handle routine check-ups, vaccinations, and the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. The fact that pet owners have brought their animals here for many years suggests a level of established trust and service within the community.
The available customer reviews present a somewhat mixed perspective on the overall experience at Animed Pet Hospital. One long-term client expresses high satisfaction, stating, "Dr Martinez and his staff are exceptional. They care for my three cats and my dog. I have had animals for many decades and this is the best vet experience I have had." This positive feedback highlights the potential for excellent care and a strong, trusting relationship with Dr. Martinez and the team. It suggests that many pet owners have found Animed to be a reliable and caring provider of veterinary services.
Another reviewer shares a history of positive experiences, mentioning that their parents have brought pets to Animed for years and that their own recent experiences with Dr. Salter have been "great." Dr. Salter is described as "cool, calm, and informative," and the staff is noted as "pleasant." This further supports the idea that Animed Pet Hospital has a track record of providing satisfactory care and positive interactions with clients.
However, a more recent review details a negative experience during a first-time visit for the reviewer's father's dog, a pit bull. This review raises concerns about the consistency of service and the approach taken by at least one of the veterinarians, Dr. Martinez, during this particular visit. The reviewer recounts that the staff seemed preoccupied with the dog's breed and perceived temperament even before the examination, inquiring about the need for a muzzle despite the dog being described as "very happy, gentle, NON AGGRESSIVE." This highlights a potential issue with breed-specific biases that some pet owners might find concerning.
Further into the examination, the reviewer describes Dr. Martinez as "very rude and dismissive" with an "off-putting" tone. A specific example provided is Dr. Martinez questioning the reason for the dog being on grain-free food, which had been recommended by a previous vet at VCA for loose stool. The reviewer felt Dr. Martinez's response, "I highly doubt they told you that," was condescending and unnecessary. This interaction suggests a lack of open communication and a dismissive attitude towards the owner's prior veterinary advice.
The negative experience extended beyond the consultation itself. The reviewer notes that there were "no aftercare instructions" provided and "no follow-up for a full exam" was scheduled, despite the dog being seen for a specific issue. This lack of thoroughness and follow-up is a significant concern for any pet owner seeking comprehensive care. As a result of this negative experience, the reviewer states that they "will not be returning," emphasizing the importance of kindness and respectful communication in veterinary practice.
Based on these reviews, the services offered at Animed Pet Hospital likely include:
- Routine Check-ups and Wellness Exams: Implied by the long-term care of multiple pets.
- Vaccinations: A standard preventative service expected at a pet hospital.
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Illnesses: The visits described in the reviews indicate the hospital addresses various health issues.
- Care for Cats and Dogs: These are the primary species mentioned in the feedback.
- Potentially other services: Given that it is a pet hospital, other services such as surgery, dental care, and diagnostics are likely available, though not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews.
In terms of features, Animed Pet Hospital appears to have:
- Experienced Veterinarians: Dr. Martinez and Dr. Salter are mentioned by name, suggesting a team of professionals.
- Long-standing Presence in the Community: The mention of years of service implies an established relationship with local pet owners.
- Generally Pleasant Staff: While one review noted concerns, another praised the staff as "pleasant."
However, the negative review highlights a potential inconsistency in the quality of service and the interpersonal skills of at least one veterinarian. This suggests that while some clients have had exceptional experiences, others may encounter less satisfactory interactions.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided text. Potential local users would need to contact Animed Pet Hospital directly to inquire about any special offers, wellness plans, or other promotions they might be running.
In conclusion, Animed Pet Hospital in Dedham, MA, appears to be a pet hospital with a history of providing care for cats and dogs in the community. While some long-term clients have reported exceptional experiences with veterinarians like Dr. Martinez and found Dr. Salter to be calm and informative, a recent review indicates potential inconsistencies in service, particularly concerning communication style and breed-related perceptions. Prospective clients may want to consider this mixed feedback when making decisions about their pet's care and perhaps seek further information directly from the hospital regarding their approach to patient care and communication.

Dr Martinez and his staff are exceptional. They care for my three cats and my dog. I have had animals for many decades and this is the best vet experience I have had.
Apr 18, 2025 · SaSa PanareseI want to start this review with saying that my parents have brought our pets to Animed for years and I recently brought my cats to Animed and have always had a great experience with Dr. Salter. The staff has always been pleasant and Dr. Salter is cool, calm, and informative which is why I was so thrown by todays visit. My dad brought his dog in today for the first time, a pit bull. A very happy, gentle, NON AGGRESSIVE, pit bull. We used to take him to VCA but we don’t always have a month to wait for an appt. Anywho. I listened in on the visit. He was seen by Dr. Martinez who was very rude and dismissive. The staff seemed to be really concerned about his temperament and whether he was aggressive before even seeing him. (Poor pitties are always judged). They asked if he would need a muzzle for the visit. Further into the exam, Dr. Martinez was down right condescending. His tone was very off putting. For example, he questioned why the dog was on grain free food. We explained that it was suggested by VCA because of loose stool. His response was “I highly doubt they told you that.” Yeah because I like to buy my dog 100.00 dog food just because….? Just seemed unnecessary. He was seen for his issue and sent on his way. No aftercare instructions. No follow-up for a full exam. Nothing. We will not be returning. It’s not hard to be kind.
Feb 15, 2024 · Stephanie WilliamsWe've been going to Animed for years. When Dr. Salter retired and Dr. Martinez took over, he was amazing and has an incredible staff! 100% recommended!
Jan 29, 2025 · Ashley CurtinAnimed is a wonderful place to have your pets treated. The care is top notch and Dr. Martinez, Greta and the rest of the staff are gentle, knowledgable and take a special interest in the pet and the family. Animed really stands out as a unique practice in this world of impersonal, a la cart, upselling vet clinics.
Jan 20, 2025 · alexandra panareseWill never take my dog back after the NEW vet MARTINEZ took over. Has very little to no experience with most breeds and none with mine as he told me. Literally insulted three other vets because of meds they have prescribed my dog in the past then tries and back peddle when I asked him why would he trash talk other vets because of what medications they believe or don’t believe would work. My dog is allergic to chicken and has been since we got her and she broke out after eating some so we went in to see Martinez who we told that this is not the first and informed him we were giving a particular medication in the past and worked immediately but instantly trash talks the meds and prescribes his own back in April now in July she has progressively gotten worse. We have been emailing for weeks and they claimed we used the wrong email and gave us the CORRECT one which was the exact same one I was using and had to pretty much haggle to get him on the phone after 3-4 weeks of emailing and being told I was gonna get called back. Still did not prescribe what I wanted and what the 3 other vets in the past have prescribed when she has broken out from eating anything with chicken in it and told me he has NO EXPERIENCE with my breed so I’m moving on to another vet with more experience. NOT THE SAME AFTER MR . SALTER WHATSOEVER
