I was skeptical, as I am with all private healthcare establishments but they not only did a wonderful and careful job of my kitty's procedure but had lovely bedside manner. Each of the staff that I interacted with was caring, attentive, and clear in their communications. Best of all they legitimately reached out several times to get updates and have conversations about how things went in the at-home aftercare portion. Highly recommended their services if your animal needs any eye surgeries or examinations. Unfortunately, as it is California, you can expect it to not be cheap but I didn't feel gouged at all, given how much they provided care even after the surgery.

Welcome to Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center
For pet owners whose beloved companions require specialized eye care, Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center in Studio City, CA, stands as a dedicated Pet Hospital focused exclusively on veterinary ophthalmology. Located at 12147 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, USA, this facility offers advanced diagnostics, medical treatments, and surgical interventions for a wide range of ocular conditions affecting animals. Unlike general veterinary clinics, this center provides highly specialized expertise, making it a crucial resource for pets with vision problems.
The environment at Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center is designed to accommodate the specific needs of animals undergoing specialized eye treatments. While specific details of the interior are not extensively available, as a surgical center, it would adhere to stringent cleanliness and sterilization protocols, which are paramount for ophthalmic procedures. The facility would be equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging tools and surgical equipment necessary for delicate eye surgeries. The atmosphere is consistently described by clients as one where the staff exhibits a "lovely bedside manner," being "caring, attentive, and clear in their communications." This indicates a professional yet empathetic environment, crucial for owners who are often anxious about their pet's vision and surgical outcomes. The focus is on creating a supportive space where both the animal patient and their human companions feel comfortable and well-informed throughout the treatment process.
Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center specializes in veterinary ophthalmology, offering a focused range of services dedicated to ocular health. Their specialized offerings typically include:
- Comprehensive Eye Examinations: This involves thorough assessments of the entire eye structure, including the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve. These examinations utilize specialized ophthalmic equipment to detect subtle changes or early signs of disease.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Beyond basic examinations, the center performs specialized diagnostic tests such as tonometry (to measure intraocular pressure for glaucoma), electroretinography (ERG) to assess retinal function, ocular ultrasound for examining structures behind the eye, and various tests for tear production and corneal integrity.
- Ophthalmic Surgeries: This is a core service, encompassing a wide range of delicate procedures. Common surgeries include cataract removal (often with artificial lens implantation), glaucoma procedures (e.g., laser cyclophotocoagulation, shunt placement), eyelid surgeries (for entropion, ectropion, or tumor removal), corneal surgeries (for ulcers, foreign bodies, or dystrophies), and retinal detachment repair.
- Medical Management of Eye Diseases: Many ocular conditions can be managed with medication. The center provides ongoing medical treatments for conditions like chronic dry eye, uveitis, conjunctivitis, and certain types of glaucoma, often involving specialized eye drops or oral medications.
- Treatment of Ocular Injuries and Emergencies: Expertise in handling acute eye injuries, foreign bodies, or sudden vision loss, providing timely and critical care to preserve vision or alleviate pain.
- Genetic Eye Disease Screening: For breeding animals, screening for inherited eye conditions to prevent their transmission to offspring.
- Post-Operative and Aftercare: A crucial aspect of their service, as highlighted by client reviews, is the dedicated post-operative care and follow-up. This includes detailed instructions for at-home care and proactive outreach from the clinic to check on the pet's recovery, ensuring optimal outcomes and addressing any concerns.
The distinctive features of Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center, as conveyed by client testimonials, center around their **exceptional medical expertise and compassionate approach**. Clients consistently praise the "wonderful and careful job" performed on procedures, indicating a high level of surgical skill and precision. The "great and caring doctor" is a significant highlight, demonstrating both professional competence and a genuine concern for the animals. A standout feature is the **"lovely bedside manner"** and the fact that staff are "caring, attentive, and clear in their communications." This is particularly important in specialized care, where complex medical information needs to be conveyed understandably to anxious pet owners. Moreover, the clinic's commitment to **proactive aftercare** is highly valued. The fact that they "legitimately reached out several times to get updates and have conversations about how things went in the at-home aftercare portion" is a testament to their dedication to comprehensive patient management beyond the initial visit. This level of follow-up fosters trust and ensures the best possible recovery. While the cost is noted as being on the higher end, consistent with specialized care in California, clients "didn't feel gouged at all, given how much they provided care even after the surgery," emphasizing the perceived value for the specialized services and follow-up provided. One area for improvement noted is occasional wait times, but the medical care itself is consistently rated as excellent.
For promotional efforts, Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center can powerfully leverage its reputation as a leading specialized Pet Hospital for ophthalmic care. Highlighting their expertise in "eye surgeries and examinations," as directly recommended by clients, would be key. Featuring testimonials that emphasize the "wonderful and careful job," the "great and caring doctor," and the unique value of their "at-home aftercare portion" would resonate strongly with pet owners seeking specialized treatment. Emphasizing their role as a referral center for general veterinarians in the region could also be a strategic promotional avenue. Utilizing their direct contact information (phone: (818) 501-5155 and mobile: +1 818-501-5155) prominently on all digital and print materials is essential. An informative website detailing specific eye conditions they treat, the types of surgeries performed, and the advanced diagnostic equipment available would be beneficial. Providing educational content on common eye problems in pets, and when to seek specialist care, could also position them as an authority in the field. Addressing the potential for higher costs upfront with transparent discussions about value, and perhaps offering detailed estimates, could manage client expectations. While acknowledging the wait time feedback, they could emphasize their thoroughness and the specialized nature of the care, which often requires more dedicated time per patient. Collaborating with general veterinary practices in the greater Studio City area to offer continuing education or co-manage complex cases could further solidify their referral network.
In conclusion, Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center in Studio City, CA, is a highly specialized Pet Hospital dedicated to providing premier veterinary ophthalmology. Its strengths lie in its expert doctors and staff, meticulous surgical and medical care, clear and caring communication, and exemplary post-operative follow-up. Despite the inherent higher cost of specialized services, clients consistently feel the value provided justifies the expense, making it a highly recommended choice for pet owners whose animals require expert eye care.

Apr 16, 2025 · Michael MintoGreat and caring doctor - I highly recommend! A couple of things to note: the wait time was over 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment, and the final bill was higher than what was discussed over the phone. To avoid surprises, I’d suggest asking during the visit if any additional procedures are being performed. Just a heads-up. But the medical side of it was excellent.
May 08, 2025 · Inessa ZemlyanskayaLove Animal Vision Care. My kids have been seeing Dr. McNabb for about 10 years. Yes, all my kids were rescues and had unique eye issues. I can't say enough great things about her and her staff. She's got my kids, and hence me, through some difficult times, always with a caring and healing outcome.
May 03, 2025 · Martine MonaghanCannot say enough about Animal Vision Care the incredible staff and Dr. McNabb. We are always greeted with friendly smiles and pleasantries no matter the time of day or how busy they are. Our has been receiving treatment for his glaucoma and accompanying eye symptoms for almost a year now and things changed considerably when we began treatment from Dr. McNabb back in April of 24. I actually find myself and I think Kaalee does a little too, happy to be going because the care and attention is so fantastic and his condition keeps improving. It’s had ups and downs but the team and Dr.McNabb have addressed the issues and provided new solutions at every turn. Couldn’t be more grateful to have found them. I think it’s also worth mentioning my partner and I are lgbt and have always felt welcomed and cared for and respected at the office as a queer couple.
Aug 27, 2024 · Claire WoodI am updating a review I made earlier today as Dr. McNabb is extremely responsive to her clients and the feline and canine patients under her care. I was given some information by the receptionist that left me frustrated about the level of care & associated costs to treat my pet. Without having left a direct message to have her call me, Dr. McNabb herself called me twice today to discuss and thoroughly go through all of it and update the medications my pet is receiving as she had a relapse. Therefore I am amending my review to give her 5 stars. I greatly appreciate the professionalism and the courtesy and care I was given. This review is not about Dr. McNabb's care as she is an excellent veterinary ophthalmologist but about the HIGH COSTS associated with any care. After the initial exam and costs associated with just the exam ($315 which did not include any medication) the office would NOT renew her ophthalmologic drops without me dropping an additional $145 for a follow up visit just to get medication less than 3 months after seeing her. Therefore I cannot recommend this veterinarian and have told them they are now letting the cat suffer because the choice is either food/litter or medication if an eye medicaiton is going to cost $145 for a visit + cost of the medication
