Our now 7-year-old Poodle suffered a sudden knee injury in April of this year and could barely use that anymore. We brought him to Dr. Alex Aguila who quickly identified the problem and explained the surgery our pup should undergo. He helped us understand its efficacy as well as the pros and cons, expected recovery time, and approximate costs. We left feeling very confident that our boy would be in good hands for this procedure. Prior to the surgery we were given detailed information about the recovery process, instructed on how we could ensure it was as smooth and painless as possible, and given contact information in case we had any questions or concerns afterward. Everyone at the office took great care of him for the surgery and his overnight stay, and he was so happy when we picked him up the next day! The recovery timeline was nearly exactly as they'd described it and we saw steady improvement over the following weeks. We're now almost four months post-op and our Poodle is back to his old self - wild and excitable, standing and running on that leg like nothing happened, and confident in his usage of the knee that he could barely use before the procedure. My 9 month old kitten Dirt bike fractured his hip, and was recommended by the emergency vet to get FHO surgery. After calling multiple places with no luck of getting him in quickly, Animal Surgical was ready to get us in the next day for a consult. Dirt bike was able to get the surgery done the same afternoon, after the consult. Dr. Rappa and the team are so wonderful and caring, and made sure we knew every step of the way what was happening and how Dirt bike was doing. They made me feel at ease during a very stressful situation. Dirt bike is now two weeks post op and doing wonderful. I'd trust any of my fur babies to go here! Highly highly recommend :)

Unfortunately we has two dogs suffer significant freak unrelated injuries within days of each other. Fortunately we ended up there with both of them. The staff and Dr Rappa have been wonderful to work with, the care has been first class, and the rates have been reasonable. Could not recommend them more highly, only wish they treated people as well. And both dogs are doing great.

Wouldn’t go anywhere else! Big thank you to Dr. Thoesen for taking care of my Luna. She just came home yesterday from her second TPLO done by him. Dr. Thoesen and the staff were so friendly and helpful through the entire recovery process the first time we did this, answering all of my questions and minor panics when I had few hiccups during recovery. They never lost patience with me and always responded very promptly. The consultation and surgical and recheck processes are arranged very smoothly. They called me right after surgery to let me know she is done and how things went. Discharge instructions are very clear and they give you the time to ask whatever questions you may have. Her healed TPLO knee is working perfectly which was done back in March. She is walking on it what feels like better than ever. Fingers crossed this side will be the same! Thank you again guys!!!

I drove up from Tacoma with my standard poodle Paloma for a hip consultation. (I adopted Paloma 3 months ago and during her spay an X-ray was taken of her hips. She had had a traumatic injury which resulted in several fractures to her pelvis.) Our appointment was with the owner and surgeon who performs hip replacement surgeries. Animal surgical and orthopedic center was a superior experience to anything I've encountered with my past seven dogs over the last 20 years of my life. The surgeon was thoughtful and took his time with Paloma. He did not promote surgery, he promoted what was best for my dog. He never appeared hurried and answered every question my friend and I had regarding Paloma's hips and treatment options. In addition to having an excellent consultation, I appreciate the owner investing in creating a good customer experience. The lobby and exam rooms were thoughtfully done. There was lots of natural light with concrete floors that had been tinted. No nasty smells. I found it very relaxing after an hour and 30 minute drive. Most importantly, I was not separated from my animal. In Tacoma our premier surgical center, Summit separates the client from their animal until their bills are paid. It can be hours and hours of waiting and customer service in my opinion is a two to three out of 10. I've never been in such a competent , peaceful, clean facility and at the same price as what I've paid at Summit. In addition the customer service was outstanding. The phones were answered by humans and not by voicemail. I will always drive North to, Animal surgical and orthopedic center when I need an expert surgical consultation. Thank you.
