My dog came in with issue on a Saturday and no one was there to take care of her so they gave me meds to get her to Monday. They completed a surgery and a hour before they were closing told me that she was ready to go and did not need to stay the night. After I paid a $1400 vet bill I picked her up at 5pm and now by 730pm she is dead. I had this dog for over ten years. RIP ZOEY AND MONTANA. We will always love you đź’”

Based on recent customer reviews, it is important for local pet owners to be aware of some significant concerns raised about the clinic's services and staff demeanor. One customer recounts a distressing experience where their dog underwent surgery and was sent home shortly before closing, only to pass away a few hours later. This customer expressed profound grief and disappointment.

Another review details a negative experience following a C-section performed on their dog. The customer alleges a lack of empathy and insufficient care for fading puppies, claiming that the veterinarian blamed them for inadequate feeding rather than investigating potential health issues with the puppies or the mother. This resulted in the loss of seven out of nine puppies. The reviewer also describes the staff as rude and reports a lack of follow-up or support from the clinic.

Given these serious negative experiences shared by recent customers, local users considering Animal Medical Clinic Reproductive Services should proceed with caution and may want to seek further information or consider alternative veterinary care providers. The reviews highlight concerns regarding post-surgical care, empathy towards animals and owners, and the level of attention provided to critical cases.

I wish I could have read the reviews before taking my dog to this place!! Staff is rude and have no Empathy for animals. They did a CSection to my dog not even a week ago. Puppies starting fading, I took puppies and dog to be checked and Dr. Bell showed no interest in doing something for the puppies instead he blamed us for not feeding the puppies enough supplement, which we did from day 1 knowing there were too many puppies for her to feed. We had a schedule and took turns every two hours to feed puppies. Still they started getting sick, there were no labs for puppies, nor mom to make sure she didn't had an infection or there was anything wrong with her. They didn't hydrate the puppies not even checked them. We lost 7 out of 9 puppies. When I called today they said there was nothing they could do. No EMPATHY at all, no LOVE for animals. Last words of the Vet were "Good Luck". These people working here need to understand that pets are part of our family, that we care for them and me morn when the pass even if they are newborn puppies.

Dr Bell performed the wrong operation on my dog, and cussed me out over the phone instead of trying to make it right. I called in early October after countless friends recommended him to me for OFA testing. When I called to schedule my girl for her OFA I also asked if Dr Bell performed canine vasectomies, which is an alternate form of neutering in which the dog is essentially left intact while loosing the ability to reproduce. Since my boy is a sport dog and did have to be neutered by contract, I had been planning for almost 2 years to get a vasectomy done on him. This would allow him to retain all his hormones and testosterone, which is ideal in dog sports. When I called the receptionist put me on hold to go ask if they did vasectomies. She came back a few minutes later and said yes, and proceeded to schedule my dogs for the first week of November. I drive an hour to get there at 7:30 the day of my appointment, and drop off just my male for his surgery. When the receptionist asked who my dog was, I said “this is Riot and he is here for a canine vasectomy I scheduled on (this date).” She handed me a paper and told me it was an anesthesia release form I had to sign so they could put him under for surgery. I left and drove an hour back home, and later in the afternoon went back to the clinic to pick him up and get my young dog’s OFAs done. When I was in the waiting room I chatted to another dog owner about vasectomy and said my dog just got his done, and the receptionist didn’t bat an eye. I waited for a while and then left with both dogs. When I got home I noticed that he did NOT have a vasectomy, but a full neuter and I was distraught since that has a good potential of changing his performance or energy level. I called and asked how that could have happened and was put on with Dr Bell who indignantly said that he neutered him and “thought vasectomies were silly and ridiculous.” Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I did NOT ever schedule my dog to be neutered. I had to go back and forth with Bell for a while as he blamed me. He said that he does not perform vasectomies. But if he does not then who told the receptionist I was on the phone with that he does? Why did they schedule me for a canine vasectomy specifically if he doesn’t know how to do them? He refused to give me a refund on a procedure that I did not want (he finally did agree at the end of the phone call so he didn’t have to talk to me anymore, but I still have not received a refund). He also told me that I signed a neuter release form, not an anesthesia release form. I signed TWO anesthesia release forms that day, one for his surgery and one for my other dog to go under for her XRays. I definitely did not sign a neuter consent form for my other dog, so why is he saying the one I signed for Riot was a neuter release form? And if it was (it was a long paper and was not given time to read through it) why did the receptionist misrepresent it as an anesthesia release form instead of telling me it was for neuter? By the end of the phone call he cussed me out since there was nothing he could do about it… All in all I’m disgusted and disappointed. I’ve posted this story in a dog related Facebook group for San Antonio and gotten the same reaction from friends and strangers alike. Several people also chimed in saying that they also had terrible experiences with Dr Bell. The office is dirty and the staff are incompetent. I will not go back and I will recommend to everyone that they find a new repro vet who cares about their clients.

Best Vet I have ever been to. The Dr really cares and is very knowledgeable. The staff is also amazing and kind and very knowledgeable. I’ve had dogs my whole life and I’ve never had a better vet. Best vet around!

Took my dog here after spending much of the previous night at the emergency vet with him. I told this vet what the emergency vet had said needed done and asked if he could do the same treatment (shave and scrub the wound, give antibiotics and painkillers if needed) - the doctor ignored what I said, told me to stop all of the meds the emergency vet gave me except antibiotics (including the topical antibiotic and painkillers) and that my dog would be fine, even though he hadn't not eaten in two days and was crying nonstop in pain. He kept getting worse and I had to take him to another emergency vet the same night, who treated him exactly the same way that the first emergency vet had said, and told me to keep all of the meds that this vet had told me to discontinue! He got much better after the second emergency vet visit. I would NEVER take another animal here again.
