For inquiries or to schedule an appointment, the clinic can be reached at (724) 438-8554 or via mobile at +1 724-438-8554. Established in 1976 by Dr. Richard Baird, VMD, the Animal Medical Center operates with a focus on addressing the health needs of companion animals.
The environment at Animal Medical Center Uniontown is structured as a small veterinary clinic, primarily specializing in the medical care of dogs and cats. While information about the interior ambiance is not extensively detailed, the clinic aims to provide a setting conducive to veterinary procedures and client consultations. Normal office hours are by appointment only, emphasizing a structured approach to patient flow. The clinic's operational hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM, with Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday being closed. This appointment-based system suggests an effort to manage patient visits efficiently. However, as noted in customer reviews, adherence to this system can sometimes lead to extended waiting times, which can impact the overall client experience. The clinic's long-standing presence in the community, since 1976, indicates a history of serving local pet owners.
Animal Medical Center Uniontown offers a variety of services to address the health and well-being of pets. Their comprehensive service list includes routine checkups, which are fundamental for preventative care, encompassing wellness exams, vaccinations, allergy testing, allergy treatment, and pain management. These routine services are designed to ensure pets remain healthy and to identify any issues early on. Beyond preventative care, the clinic provides specialized surgical services. Dr. Baird, a key figure at the center, performs most orthopedic surgeries, including treatments for broken bones and knee reconstruction, indicating a capability for more complex musculoskeletal issues. Additionally, soft tissue surgeries are performed, which cover a wide range of procedures such as neuters, spays, tumor and cancer removals, bladder stone removals, dental procedures, eye and ear surgeries, reconstructive plastic surgeries, and laceration repairs. All surgeries are scheduled in advance, allowing for proper preparation and patient care.
Nutritional support is another important service offered, with Dr. Baird and the staff providing knowledge and guidance on diet and nutrition. This includes assistance with weight loss programs, strategies to decrease bulk, increase muscle mass, promote proper diet, and improve cardiovascular health. The clinic also has products available to support pet nutrition. For dental health, the Animal Medical Center performs dental work, which can involve cleanings and surgical extractions. They emphasize the importance of maintaining oral hygiene for overall pet health. Furthermore, for pet owners considering insurance, the clinic recommends Pets Best Pet Insurance, noting that Animal Medical Center clients may receive an exclusive 5% discount, plus an additional 5% multiple pet discount when enrolling two or more pets. This demonstrates an effort to assist clients in managing the financial aspects of pet care.
Key features of Animal Medical Center Uniontown include its long-standing presence in the community and the range of surgical expertise provided by Dr. Baird. The ability to perform both orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries in-house can be a significant advantage for pet owners seeking specialized care without needing referrals to other facilities. The focus on nutrition support also highlights a holistic approach to pet health, extending beyond immediate medical needs to include long-term well-being. The clinic's recommendation and potential discount for Pets Best Pet Insurance suggest an awareness of client needs regarding pet care affordability and planning. While specific advanced diagnostic equipment is not explicitly detailed in the provided information, the scope of services implies the use of necessary tools for effective diagnosis and treatment.
However, an objective introduction must also address customer feedback that highlights areas of concern. One significant criticism pertains to patient management and wait times. A customer recounted an experience where their 11:30 AM appointment was delayed until 12:15 PM, with walk-ins being taken ahead of scheduled appointments. This led to frustration, especially when a later appointment (11:45 AM) was called before theirs, resulting in the client leaving without their pet being seen. The customer also noted a rude and dismissive receptionist, indicating issues with front desk service and client communication. Such experiences can significantly impact client satisfaction and trust in the clinic's operational efficiency and customer service.
Another critical piece of feedback relates to medical outcomes and diagnostic thoroughness. A review described a tragic situation where a dog, presenting with inability to go to the bathroom, was given medication and a shot for stomach worms without a stool check to confirm the presence of worms. The dog unfortunately passed away nine days later. This review raises questions about the diagnostic process and the effectiveness of the treatment plan in this specific case. While individual cases can be complex and outcomes are not always predictable, such feedback underscores the importance of comprehensive diagnostics and clear communication with pet owners regarding suspected conditions and treatment rationale.
Regarding promotional information, specific ongoing promotions from Animal Medical Center Uniontown are not extensively detailed in the provided information. However, the mention of an exclusive 5% discount with Pets Best Pet Insurance, plus a multiple pet discount, serves as a form of promotional offering aimed at making pet insurance more accessible to their clients. It is common for veterinary clinics to have seasonal promotions, wellness packages, or new client specials. Therefore, it would be advisable for prospective clients to contact Animal Medical Center Uniontown directly at (724) 438-8554 to inquire about any current promotions, discounted services, or programs that could benefit their pets. Information regarding payment options, such as accepting debit cards, credit cards, checks, and cash, is also typically available, and some clinics offer financing options like CareCredit. These details contribute to the overall financial accessibility of their services.
In conclusion, Animal Medical Center Uniontown has a long history of serving the Uniontown community as a pet hospital, offering a range of essential veterinary services including routine checkups, vaccinations, and various orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. They also provide nutrition support and partner with pet insurance providers to assist clients. While the clinic offers a broad spectrum of care, customer feedback indicates areas for improvement in appointment scheduling, wait times, and client communication. The unfortunate outcome described in one review highlights the critical importance of diagnostic rigor in veterinary practice. Prospective clients are encouraged to directly contact the clinic to discuss their pet's needs, inquire about specific services, confirm current operational policies, and explore any available promotional offers to make an informed decision about their pet's care.

Apr 19, 2025 · Joe KaylorMy appointment was at 11:30 and at 12:15 we were still in the waiting room as they kept taking walk ins ahead of us and when I asked the receptionist why she was very rude and dismissive, said we would get the next available room but gave it to an 11:45 appointment so we just left. We will be transferring elsewhere and it is a shame because we have been coming here forever but the front desk is terrible.
