Last week, My 10 year old beautiful pit bull terrier suddenly lost the ability to walk and began to cry. We quickly drove to this hospital with my little guy and upon checking in, was greeted by a serious group of medical professionals who quickly brought out an animal gurney and brought my sweet boy into an examination room. After their diagnostics and exams, they carefully walked me through the process of saying goodbye to my dog as his vitals were weak and his age. I did not want my dog to suffer any longer. We were given as much time as needed to say goodbye and even attended the procedure. I will always hold this hospital dear to my heart as they were all very sweet and compassionate. The dr who performed the euthanasia was very gentle and sweet talked my baby into his passing. All of the staff expressed their condolences. My dear boy had a dignified passing. Thank you AMC đź’– for your service.

The veterinarian at AMC insisted on performing surgery on my cat, claiming there was a stone in his bladder. The quoted cost was at least $10K. After seeking a second opinion, we found that the same surgery would cost only $3K to $4K at most at a nearby animal hospital, just 15 minutes away in Long Island City (LIC). However, the AMC veterinarian was unwilling to discuss alternatives or provide a detailed breakdown of the costs included in their quote. He also refused to facilitate a transfer of our cat to the other hospital. His primary concern seemed to be avoiding liability if we chose not to proceed with the surgery at AMC. He even warned us that our cat was at high risk of developing a urethral blockage and could potentially die if we left without the surgery. Feeling uneasy about the situation, we decided to leave and took our cat to the hospital in LIC the next day. There, the veterinarians determined that surgery was not necessary. What appeared to be a stone in the bladder was something else entirely and could be treated with prescription food to dissolve it. In the end, AMC charged us $1.5K, which included $310 for admission (they don't even take a look at the cat before charging you for admission) and $800 for a basic blood test (not comprehensive, and one we had to redo the next day) along with IV preparation. Their treatment approach felt excessive, and the nurse we interacted with was also rude. Now, with proper care and no surgery, our cat is peeing normally—proving that AMC’s diagnosis and treatment recommendation were completely wrong. I urge other pet parents to research thoroughly, seek second opinions, and avoid being pressured into unnecessary and costly treatments. It’s not just financially burdensome—it’s also emotionally draining.

Disgusting greedy for-profit organization posing as a non profit to receive tax exemption status. They charge higher than private clinics. There is absolutely no transparency with their pricing. Their main goal is to drive up prices to generate more revenue so that they can get paid like for-profit. Their CEO makes 7 figures. Their staff is beyond rude. The emergency crew consists of interns who couldn’t care less. They diagnosed the wrong leg of my dog. Had to drop another $500 at a different vet to get the right diagnosis. Majority of these non profits need to lose their tax exemption status pronto.

My family’s pet ended up leaving the vet worse than he entered… I recommend finding somewhere else if you care about compassion and bedside manner. We did not get any of that with Dr. Quesenberry— She suggested we euthanize our pet or have him treated elsewhere. Not a pleasant experience for us at all.
