Wonderful staff and care provided to pets and owners. If you're visiting in office or have questions over the phone regarding homecare, medications, or procedures, they have you covered. They know us by name and our pets even better at this point. They're our family's equivalent to a pediatrician and we know they care about our pets as much as we do. With that being said, I would strongly recommend you try to get any of the vets besides Balboni to care for your animals. He suspected our three and a half year old cat had a tumor, and did nothing besides prescribe medicines that did nothing to help her. It wasn't until months later that one of the other, better vets actually gave us a treatment plan and sent us to a practice that could help. We drove almost six hundred miles to get her the treatment she needed but at that point it was far too late. I am one hundred percent convinced his complacency killed her. I don't know if he just doesn't care or what, but we told him again and again we'd do anything to save her and we meant it. He just wasted our time when we needed to move quickly to beat the cancer that stole her from us.

While specific details about the physical decor and layout of the Animal Hospital of Waterville's facility are not explicitly stated, the general sentiment from customer reviews paints a picture of a welcoming and professional environment. A pet hospital, by its nature, is designed to be a safe and comforting space for animals and their owners during what can often be stressful times. One can infer that the environment is maintained with cleanliness and order, crucial for preventing the spread of illness and providing a hygienic setting for medical procedures. The focus on patient and client comfort is evident in the repeated mentions of the staff's compassionate approach. The atmosphere is likely geared towards reducing anxiety for pets, potentially incorporating features like separate waiting areas for different animal types or calming elements to make visits as smooth as possible.
As a “Pet Hospital,” the Animal Hospital of Waterville offers a robust suite of veterinary services. This typically includes, but is not limited to, routine wellness examinations, vaccinations, parasite control, and nutritional counseling, all essential for preventative care. For more immediate concerns, they provide diagnostic services such as blood work, urinalysis, and imaging (X-rays, ultrasounds) to accurately identify underlying health issues. Surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex operations, are also a standard offering at a facility of this type. Dental care, an often-overlooked but vital aspect of pet health, is likely available, including cleanings and extractions. Furthermore, their role as a “Pet Hospital” suggests they are equipped to handle emergency situations, providing critical care when animals are in distress. The reviews highlight their readiness to address questions regarding homecare, medications, and procedures, indicating a strong commitment to client education and ongoing support for pet owners managing their animals' health at home.
One of the most remarkable features of the Animal Hospital of Waterville, consistently highlighted by their clientele, is the exceptionally dedicated and caring staff. Customers frequently praise the staff for their warmth, empathy, and genuine concern for both pets and their human companions. This level of personalized attention is a significant differentiator. Reviews often mention that the staff knows clients and their pets by name, fostering a sense of familiarity and trust that is akin to a family doctor. This personal connection contributes significantly to a positive veterinary experience. The hospital's commitment to going "above and beyond" during times of grief and loss further underscores their compassionate approach. Their ability to treat clients with the "utmost compassion and care" even when not a regular client, as seen in the feedback regarding a beloved pet's unexpected passing, speaks volumes about their character and dedication to the community.
However, it is also important to present an objective view based on the provided information, which includes a critical perspective. One review indicates a concerning experience with a specific veterinarian, Dr. Balboni, where there was a perceived lack of proactive treatment for a serious condition, leading to a delayed diagnosis and ultimately, a tragic outcome for a pet. This feedback, while specific to an individual practitioner, highlights the importance of open communication with your veterinary team and feeling empowered to seek second opinions if you have concerns. The review also, conversely, praises "other, better vets" within the same practice who provided a clear treatment plan and referrals, suggesting that the hospital as a whole does have capable and compassionate professionals. This indicates a varied experience can occur, and it underscores the importance of finding the right fit within a larger practice.
While explicit promotional campaigns are not detailed, the Animal Hospital of Waterville's strongest promotion comes from the overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth referrals and genuine testimonials from satisfied clients. The recurring themes of compassionate care, knowledgeable staff, and going the extra mile serve as powerful endorsements. As a “Pet Hospital,” they likely engage in community outreach through educational initiatives, perhaps offering seminars on pet health, participating in local animal welfare events, or providing resources for responsible pet ownership. Their strong client relationships suggest a focus on building a loyal customer base through consistent, high-quality service rather than solely relying on aggressive advertising. The fact that customers would drive "almost six hundred miles" to seek treatment, even after a negative experience, speaks to the overall trust and value placed on the care received from certain individuals within the practice.
For pet owners in Waterville and the surrounding areas, the Animal Hospital of Waterville represents a significant resource for all their veterinary needs. From routine check-ups to complex medical issues and even the difficult moments of loss, the facility, generally speaking, strives to provide comprehensive and compassionate care. Their commitment to building strong relationships with both pets and their owners makes them a valued part of the local community's pet care landscape.

Apr 20, 2024 · Ashley ClementI cannot speak highly enough of this place. They've seen us through two beloved pets. Saying goodbye to our dog (and previously a cat) was heartbreaking, yet Dr. Balboni and his staff saw it through with the utmost love and compassion. The entire staff is wonderful and I will definitely choose them for future pets.
May 25, 2024 · MJ JacquesAlways feels like your going to see your friends! Always are just as worried about the best interest of the animals as if they're the OWNER! NO other vet I have been too has ever felt like this !!! They are FAMILY! Not just there to hurry you through, just to make them RICH !!!!!
Jul 21, 2018 · Blaine HamlinThis is mine and my husbands husky. We've had her for almost four years. It's been a wild time for us with her. I want to share my experience with Animal Hospital of Waterville. Animal Hospital of waterville will always get my service. They have always had our dog and cats best interest at heart. Last summer, Luna developed a contusion to her spine. It was after hours, so we took her to androscoggin animal hospital where they sent me to Scarborough. Knowing it was a spinal injury my husband and I had no idea what we were in store for. While she was able to come home in 48 hours, Animal Hospital of Waterville called us every other day to check on her. Scarborough called me once and they're the ones that saw her! I was completely in awe that they called me every other day. Fast forward a couple months after. She was just shy of her 30 days after getting her rabies vaccine when a fox with rabbies entered our home and attacked her. I immediately put her into the car and off to the vet I went. They brought her right in, checked her over and gave her a shot to be safe. I was there for maybe an hour. They charged me for a tech visit. I was in panic mode and they not only took care of my baby girl but they helped calm me down. They really do treat your animals as if they are their own. I can't speak for other people, but I can speak for myself. This vet has been my life savor and they never make me question if my babies are in the right hands. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Luna loves you and that's more than enough for me.
