A week ago we rescued a puppy that had been dumped in the middle of the road and named him Bubbles. We brought him to this vet and expressed concerns of head trauma due to a divot in his head, weird breathing sounds, and not acting like a normal puppy. The visit began to go wrong when Bubbles was struggling on the leash because he was scared and the rude front staff just watched as I tried to stop the poor puppy from choking himself, didn’t even offer to help. Then when we met with the vet we asked her to look in his nose and do a head x ray because we were worried about structural damage. We were the last visit of the day so everything was very rushed. No one looked in his nose, no x ray was done, and we were pushed out the door with some antibiotics. Now a week later this poor puppy has died a horrible death due to their neglect. Due to the HEAD TRUAMA (confirmed by emergency vet) that we asked them to look into Bubbles suffered a horrible seizure and died. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. Do not take your pet to this vet unless you want rude staff, your concerns to be ignored; even to the extent where it may cost your pet their life. A picture of Bubbles and his sister who misses him dearly.

Welcome to Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks
Welcome to Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks, a Pet Hospital located at 1772 E Avenida De Los Arboles F, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362. As a local provider of veterinary care, we aim to serve the pet owners of Thousand Oaks and the surrounding areas. Our goal is to offer a range of services to support the health and well-being of your animal companions. However, it's important to consider all available feedback to gain a comprehensive understanding of the experiences of pet owners who have visited our facility.
Information regarding the specific environment of Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks is limited in the provided reviews. One reviewer described a negative initial interaction with the front staff, noting a lack of assistance when their rescued puppy was struggling on a leash due to fear. This suggests a potential area for improvement in terms of staff attentiveness and proactiveness in assisting pet owners and ensuring the comfort and safety of animals in the waiting area. Conversely, another reviewer who brought in a new rescue pup reported feeling welcomed by the staff. This indicates that experiences may vary, and further information would be needed to provide a consistent description of the clinic's atmosphere.
The reviews mention at least one veterinarian, Dr. Milburn, who received positive feedback for being a "great doc" and taking the time to answer questions. This suggests that the hospital has skilled veterinary professionals on staff. However, the first review details a deeply concerning experience with a different veterinarian (not named) who allegedly rushed an examination of a rescued puppy with potential head trauma and respiratory issues. The reviewer states that their specific requests for a nasal examination and a head x-ray were not addressed, and the puppy was discharged with antibiotics. Tragically, the puppy later died due to head trauma, which the reviewer believes could have been prevented with proper investigation during the initial visit. This serious allegation of neglect and ignored concerns raises significant questions about the thoroughness of examinations and the responsiveness of some of the veterinary staff to pet owners' concerns.
As a Pet Hospital, Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks would typically offer a range of veterinary services. Based on common practices, these may include:
General Wellness Examinations: Routine check-ups to assess your pet's overall health and detect potential issues early.
Vaccinations: Administering necessary vaccines to protect your pet against various diseases.
Parasite Prevention: Providing medications and advice to prevent and control fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other parasites.
Diagnostic Services: Utilizing tools such as laboratory testing and imaging (like X-rays) to diagnose illnesses and injuries.
Medical Treatment: Managing a variety of medical conditions with appropriate medications and therapies.
Surgical Procedures: Performing both routine surgeries (e.g., spaying and neutering) and more complex surgical interventions.
Dental Care: Offering services such as dental cleanings and treatment for dental diseases.
However, the conflicting reviews present a complex picture regarding the actual delivery and quality of these services. While one reviewer felt welcomed and appreciated the time Dr. Milburn took to answer questions, the other experienced what they perceived as rushed and negligent care with another veterinarian, leading to a tragic outcome. This discrepancy makes it difficult to objectively assess the consistent quality and reliability of the services provided across all cases.
Features of Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks, based on the limited information, might include having multiple veterinarians on staff, potentially offering a range of standard veterinary services, and in some instances, having a friendly and welcoming staff. However, the serious allegations of ignored concerns and rushed examinations resulting in a pet's death raise significant concerns about the hospital's commitment to thorough patient care and responsiveness to pet owners' anxieties.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or specials at Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks. Pet hospitals sometimes provide discounts for new clients, seasonal promotions, or packages for certain services. To inquire about any potential promotions, it is recommended to contact the hospital directly at (805) 493-5540 or +1 805-493-5540.
In conclusion, Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks is a Pet Hospital located in Thousand Oaks, California, offering veterinary services. While one reviewer reported a positive experience with a welcoming staff and a caring veterinarian (Dr. Milburn), another shared a deeply concerning account of alleged neglect and rushed care that they believe contributed to their rescued puppy's death. This stark contrast in experiences highlights the importance of considering all available feedback when choosing a veterinary provider. Prospective clients should weigh the positive aspects of a seemingly friendly staff and attentive doctor against the serious allegations of ignored concerns and inadequate care. It is recommended to conduct further research, ask detailed questions about the hospital's protocols and staff, and potentially seek additional opinions before entrusting the care of your beloved pet to Animal Hospital of Thousand Oaks.

Mar 10, 2025 · Hannah ForsterBrought my new rescue pup to see Dr. Milburn after my neighbor told me how great her dog was treated. Have to say I was very happy with the staff and felt welcomed. Everyone seemed to love my boy Buster and he could not stop wagging his tail. They offered him treats and snacks which he gobbled up. Dr. Milburn was a great doc and took time to answer all my questions. Happy to have found our new vet!
