Edit as of 5/13/25: I'm updating my review specifically in response to the clinic’s reply to my original feedback. After reading it, I felt even more upset and disappointed. While I did decline x-rays at the time, I take serious issue with the way the clinic used that fact to deflect responsibility. To suggest that a heart murmur progressed into full-blown heart failure in just two days feels more like blame-shifting than a genuine reflection on what went wrong, or what could’ve been done better. After leaving that appointment, something just didn’t sit right with me. My dog was clearly struggling, and despite being sent home with painkillers, he wasn’t improving at all. My dog was diagnosed two days later at a different clinic with heart failure (without an x-ray) based solely on his symptoms, bloodwork, and a stethoscope. He’s now doing much better with medication, and I’ve been referred to a cardiologist for further testing. If I hadn’t trusted my gut and sought a second opinion, I truly don’t know if he’d still be here. Read that again folks, my dog could have potentially died if I had not gone somewhere else. What I expected from the clinic was empathy. What I received was a defensive, dismissive response that placed the burden of the outcome on me, which is strange as I’m clearly not a veterinarian. That’s not compassionate care. That’s damage control. As a paying client who has been to this clinic plenty of times and a worried fur mom, I deserved honesty, guidance, and support, not blame. ----- I would NOT recommend taking your pets here. I’ve been a customer for my exotic pets and things were fine, but when I brought my dog in because he hadn’t been acting like himself the vet (Dr. Kurdziel) we saw was extremely underwhelming. I explained all of his symptoms and she listened but seemed distant and not too concerned. They did some bloodwork, gave me pain meds, mentioned a heart murmur and an x-ray, and sent us home without any real answers. The next day, my dog’s condition worsened, so I took him to a different vet for a second opinion. Within minutes, he was diagnosed with heart failure AND I was given a very thorough and compassionate explanation. I’m honestly pretty pissed. How was something so serious missed completely? This wasn’t just a minor oversight, it was a complete failure to take my concerns seriously and properly evaluate my dog. If you care about your pet’s health, do not go here.

One recent customer review specifically highlighted the exceptional cleanliness of the clinic, stating it was "absolutely the cleanest vet clinic I've ever been to." This emphasis on hygiene creates a more comfortable and reassuring atmosphere for both pets and their owners, minimizing potential anxieties associated with veterinary visits. The reviewer also commended the staff for being "very helpful" and "very sincere" in their interactions, indicating a commitment to clear communication and genuine care.
However, it is crucial to present a balanced perspective by also acknowledging other experiences shared by pet owners. Recent reviews have raised concerns regarding the thoroughness of diagnoses and the level of communication in certain situations. One customer detailed a distressing experience where their dog's serious condition, heart failure, was allegedly missed during an initial examination. This review expressed disappointment over the perceived lack of concern and the limited answers provided during the visit. The customer further reported that their dog received a diagnosis of heart failure at another clinic within minutes, based on symptoms, bloodwork, and a stethoscope examination, and is now improving with medication and specialist care. This experience underscores the importance of comprehensive evaluation and clear communication between the veterinary team and pet owners.
Another review echoed similar sentiments, describing an "underwhelming" experience with a particular veterinarian. The customer felt their concerns were not taken seriously, leading to a missed diagnosis of heart failure. This individual strongly advised other pet owners to avoid the clinic if they prioritize their pet's health, highlighting the significant impact of a seemingly overlooked condition.
It is important to note that these negative reviews focus on specific instances and should be considered alongside the positive feedback regarding cleanliness and staff sincerity. As with any service-based establishment, individual experiences can vary. May 13, 2025 · Lauren G.This was absolutely the cleanest vet clinic I've ever been to. There was no odor or anything that looked distasteful. The staff was very helpful, very sincere in their questions and answers I would highly recommend this clinic.
Mar 03, 2025 · Linda VillarrealWe have taken all three of our pups to Animal Hospital Highway 6 for a couple years now. They are the best! Without a doubt, highest level of care, friendliness, and efficiency I've seen. They do such a great job. They get our pups in for appointments fast, explain everything in detail, and just do a wonderful job. Thank you!
Oct 28, 2024 · Joshua HarrisI have been with Animal Hospital Hwy 6 for more than 20 years! They have taken fantastic care of all of my sweet furries. They are very friendly, professional, and efficient. Dr. Driever has helped me keep new family furries healthy, and helped me say my last goodbye to an old sweet golden. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who wants a friendly atmosphere, long term staff, and fantastic doctors.
Sep 26, 2024 · Susan CastanoI have taken my dogs to Animal Hospital Highway 6 for more than 25 years. I have sent numerous friends, colleagues, and family members for both routine and semi acute of their animals. For the last ten years I have lived more than 30 minutes from Sugar Land. There is tremendous experience and wisdom in their team as well as fair and balanced recommendations that never prioritize the economic side of running a business. In an era when private equity firms are purchasing large veterinary practices, it has been increasingly difficult to get such veterinary care without feeling like your wallet was being biopsied. Take your animals here and you will be very thankful!
