Animal Hospital At The Shores

Never going back here again that’s for sure! I was running late for my first appointment due to an uncooperative parrot. I called ahead to let them know I would be 15-20 minutes late for the first appointment. They told me that was fine and see you soon. I then drove 45 minutes for my appointment. I got a call shortly before turning into the parking lot saying it would be best to reschedule the appointment. I told them I was basically in the parking lot and that it would be fine for them to just see one bird instead of both. I proceeded to bring my bird inside. I was 5 minutes early for my second appointment. I was then told I would need to reschedule and that the vet couldn’t see me for my second appointment because there wasn’t time, even though I was early for my second appointment and told when I called that they would be able to see both still. They wouldn’t see even one of my birds. Disrespectful. Dishonest. Incompetent. And unsympathetic. I will be taking by parrots elsewhere!

I’ve tried out a lot of different vets. I’m also a dog trainer so I hear a lot of stories about many other vets. Animal Hospital at the Shores has been a great experience every time. I never feel pressured to do any vaccinations and if anything I’ve been advised not to do some unnecessary ones. They never sugar coat things and if there is some sort of mystery to an illness, they never jump to speculations. Their prices are very reasonable for the area. They always make my animals and me feel comfortable. The appointments are never rushed. I’ve been able to get an appointment in a very reasonable amount of time and recently they saw me the same day when my dog needed urgent care. The blend of integrative and traditional medicine is a huge plus. The only negative is that the hours are a little limited but I also see that as a positive since the vets and employees have a good work/life balance. I recommend this practice to anyone looking for a fear free and honest vet experience!

I took my pups in for their first visit on the 14th of march. I have 2 pomeranians, female 10 months and male 8 months old. The reason for the visit, my 10 month old female has bilateral luxating patellas, grade 3. She was diagnosed by a different vet. The first suggested surgery in May when she is a year old and her growth plates closed. I went to the Shore for a second opinion. My second pup was along for the ride. I was so happy with the enthusiasm and care i recieved there. They loved my pups and the pups loved them. They were on board with my choice in holistic care for them and even helped me with recipes for homemade dog food. Outcome is no surgery at this time, and see how she progresses with exercise and mild manipulation. Essentially continue doing what I've been doing. The office is clean and does not smell like wet dog. They treat exotics as well as offering alternative therapy such as acupuncture and chiropractic care. All of this is the reason i will be transferring the care of my pups to them, even though it is not close to my home.

As a pet owner and former vet tech, I can’t recommend this animal hospital enough! We see Dr. Auge who takes amazing care of our rabbits and parrot. She has helped one of our rabbits in particular so much. Our bun is totally blind, elderly, has a facial deformity, TERRIBLE teeth and chronic respiratory issues. Her quality of life has been incredible since we started coming here! This is a big deal to us because of how complex our rabbit’s issues are, and how many vets she’s seen in her life. We also brought our other rabbit here who was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on her face. Unfortunately, the best option for her was palliative care. We ended up euthanizing shortly after her diagnosis. Losing a companion animal is so hard but Dr. Auge and the techs made sure that the experience was as peaceful as possible. I can’t express how grateful I am for that. They even numbed her arm before placing the iv. These little things really add up and you can see that they genuinely care. Thank you so much to all of the techs and Dr. Auge for being so compassionate and taking incredible care of our animals!
