My cat, Sylvester, we call him Chubby bc he loves to eat (!), really ENJOYS his visits to this vet/clinic bc he loves the people. The vets are very nice and patient. The staff who greet us and meet with Chubby are wonderful. When the visit is over, Chubby does not want to leave! Highly recommend!

Welcome to Animal Health Group on the Boulevard

Welcome to Animal Health Group on the Boulevard, a Pet Hospital located at 2300 Hylan Blvd in Staten Island, New York. This facility offers veterinary care services to the local community. While detailed information about the hospital's environment isn't extensively available online, one customer noted that their cat seemed to enjoy visits due to the people, suggesting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. You can likely expect standard veterinary facilities including examination rooms and areas for various medical procedures.

As a Pet Hospital, Animal Health Group on the Boulevard provides a range of services aimed at maintaining the health and well-being of your pets. Based on customer experiences, these services include initial examinations, treatments for conditions like fleas, and vaccinations. One positive experience highlighted a same-day visit for a rescued mother cat and her kittens, where they received a good care/exam and treatment. This indicates the hospital's capacity to handle urgent needs and provide initial medical care.

However, another customer's detailed account provides a more nuanced perspective on the services and pricing. This review described follow-up visits for vaccinations, where the costs incurred were significant for what the customer perceived as a short consultation time and services provided. The customer raised concerns about the transparency of the pricing for vaccine packages and booster doses. This suggests that while Animal Health Group on the Boulevard offers standard pet hospital services like examinations and vaccinations, it's advisable for pet owners to have clear and thorough discussions about the costs associated with different treatments and service packages.

Based on the available customer reviews, the features of Animal Health Group on the Boulevard present a mixed picture:

  • Friendly Staff: One reviewer specifically mentioned that their cat enjoys visiting because of the nice and patient vets and the wonderful greeting staff.
  • Availability: The hospital was able to accommodate a same-day appointment for a rescued animal, indicating potential accessibility.
  • Initial Good Care: One customer was happy with the initial exam and treatment received by Dr. Colon and a technician.

However, the reviews also highlight potential areas of concern:

  • Pricing Transparency: One customer expressed disappointment and feeling misled regarding the pricing of vaccine packages and booster doses.
  • Cost of Services: The same customer found the cost of subsequent visits, particularly for vaccinations and a brief consultation, to be high compared to other local options.
  • Communication: The customer reported a lack of knowledge from one provider on a specific issue (a cat in heat).

On November 1, I rescued a stray mama and her two kittens from a nearby deli. Sadly, third kitten was gone by the time I took them in. This practice came up on a Google search, and luckily had availability that same day. I had a visit with Dr. Colon and a very sweet technician who treated the cats wonderfully and gave them good care/exam as well as treatment for fleas. It was about $900. I felt this was fair because I was desperate to get them the help they needed and was happy with the service. 5/5 visit with Dr colon, and thank you for your good care. Three weeks later, I had a follow up visit to get them vaccines with different provider. On this invoice, attached below, this kitten package made it seem as if the booster doses were all part of the cost. Was listed same way as exam and fecal sample which were “included”. For two vaccines each (distemperment and feline leukemia), a booster of worm medication, and an 8 minute visit with the vet, I spent another almost $900. The inexperienced technician was present during most of visit, while the vet was there about 8 mins in total. The “exam” from the vet included her discussing her education in the Caribbean and her own cat. When I did ask questions about the Mama cat (who has been in heat and yowling at 3 AM), she “didn’t know much about that.” My only solace was thinking the booster vaccines would be included in 3 to 4 weeks, so I figured I would suck it up one last visit. The invoice states initial/booster dose - but apparently this is only done for reminder purposes? Unfortunately, when I called to schedule this appointment, I quickly realized that I was misled, and that it would cost another $800. As a healthcare provider (for people), I found this to be very disappointing. I was not expecting any charity from them, but some honesty would have been appreciated. I have found a close vet that our family dog has used for years that offers $40 flat rate for vaccines and 75 for an exam. I am happy to pay for services rendered and care for my pets. I appreciate the work of vets and the technicians as well. But getting ripped off and exploited should not be part of any agenda of people who say they care for animals. I hope you really reconsider pricing for STANDARD things like vaccines. I don’t think people need another excuse to neglect these sorts of things for their pets. If you are looking for a vet, look elsewhere (St Francis animal hospital is fair and excellent service was received). I hope you use this review to reevaluate your pricing and do better by people and their pets. I will be donating the difference of cost of this visit to friends of animals organization who do try and help animals and their owners find affordable care/spay certificates. With much disappointment, Christiana

I had to put my Hannah banana down on 1/25 and even though this was my first time ever coming here the vet and vet tech were so compassionate and supportive they could have milked me dry with testings and surgery( even though I knew my baby girl wouldn’t handle that type of extensive surgery if they had given me false hope I would’ve given them all I had). I just wanted to say thank you to both the vet who saw us and the vet techs who were the sweetest ever I wish I had gotten their names to thank them by name but thank you for letting me break down and grieve my best friend thank you for giving me time with her and thank you for even after she passed you guys still treated her with kindness and love even when she growled at you guys you didn’t take offense to it and it was only the first time meeting her.

I’ve been going to Animal Health Group for 5yrs. All they do is milk you for money. I found a new Vet, and they seem to be more knowledgeable and more reasonable in price. Mid Island Veterinary Practice.
