Dr. Reid and his staff are knowledgeable and compassionate. They absolutely saved my cat's life. When I took a rescue bulldog for diagnosis, we unfortunately had to euthanize, Dr. Reid was genuinely angry about the poor vet care this dog received previously. I highly recommend this clinic, and they are very reasonably priced as well.

Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic Introduce
Welcome to the introduction of Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic, a Pet Hospital located at 5341 N State Hwy H, Springfield, MO 65803, USA. As a local veterinary care provider, Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic aims to serve the pet health needs of the Springfield community. To provide a comprehensive understanding of what this clinic offers, we have compiled an objective overview based on the available information, including direct feedback from pet owners.
Choosing the right Pet Hospital for your animal companion is a crucial decision. Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic, operating as a Pet Hospital, offers a range of services for your pets. By considering the environment, services, features, and real customer experiences, you can better determine if this clinic aligns with your pet care requirements.
Environment: A Place of Healing and Potential Frustration
One customer review describes Dr. Reid and his staff as "knowledgeable and compassionate," suggesting a caring and competent professional environment. This positive account indicates a clinic where pet owners might feel their animals are in capable hands. However, another review presents a contrasting perspective, detailing issues with the front desk staff's rudeness and a lack of communication leading to a request for the customer to find another vet for their senior dog needing medication. This suggests that while the medical care provided by the veterinarians may be commendable, the overall experience can be significantly impacted by the administrative aspects of the clinic.
Services Offered: Broad Veterinary Care
Based on the customer reviews, we can infer several services offered by Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic:
- General Veterinary Care: The mention of saving a cat's life implies a capacity to handle serious medical conditions and provide effective treatment.
- Diagnosis: The clinic performed a diagnosis for a rescue bulldog, indicating their ability to assess and identify health issues.
- Euthanasia: Unfortunately, the clinic also provides euthanasia services when necessary, handled with apparent empathy by Dr. Reid according to one review.
- Medication Management: The negative review highlights the clinic's role in prescribing and potentially dispensing ongoing medication for chronic conditions, although the handling of this in the described situation was problematic.
As a "Hospital & Clinic," it is reasonable to assume that Animal Health Center offers a wider array of services beyond what is explicitly mentioned in these two reviews. These likely include routine check-ups, vaccinations, surgical procedures, dental care, and other diagnostic services such as imaging and laboratory work. However, without more specific information, we can only confirm the services directly alluded to in the provided feedback.
Features and Customer Experiences: A Dichotomy of Care
The limited customer feedback reveals a stark contrast in experiences:
- Positive Aspects: The positive review emphasizes the knowledge and compassion of Dr. Reid and the staff, their ability to handle critical health situations effectively (saving a cat's life), and their reasonable pricing. The doctor's reaction to a case of prior poor veterinary care also suggests a strong commitment to animal welfare.
- Negative Aspects: The negative review points to significant issues with the front desk staff, citing rudeness and a lack of communication. The decision to ask a customer to find another vet for unclear reasons, especially when their senior dog needed medication, raises concerns about patient communication and continuity of care. This customer felt that the doctor prioritized employees' attitudes over customer satisfaction.
This split in experiences suggests that while the medical expertise at Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic may be high, the administrative and customer service aspects might be inconsistent or problematic for some clients.
Promotional Information: Considering Your Needs
Given the contrasting feedback, it is important for potential local users to weigh these experiences. If you are looking for a Pet Hospital in Springfield, MO, where the veterinarians are described as knowledgeable and compassionate, and where prices are considered reasonable, Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic may be worth considering. The positive review indicates a team capable of providing crucial medical care.
However, the negative review serves as a caution regarding potential issues with communication and the front office staff. If clear and respectful communication is a top priority for you, you might want to inquire further about their communication protocols and customer service approach before making a decision.

Ultimately, your choice of a Pet Hospital should be based on what you value most in your pet's care, whether it's the expertise of the medical staff, the quality of communication, the overall customer experience, or a combination of these factors. Animal Health Center Hospital & Clinic appears to have strengths in medical care but may have areas for improvement in customer service.

Apr 05, 2025 路 Melanie JohnstonPretty upset by the lack of communication. Was asked to look for another vet today with no reason given and my senior dog needs her meds. The receptionist was rude and the only time she sounded pleasant was when she was telling me my husband and I would be happier at another vet clinic. My dog needs her meds. Very sad that this is how they conduct business. We had a good experience until just recently aside from the front desk, so I'm unsure as to what happened. It seems like the Dr cares more about their employees and supporting their bad attitudes rather than keeping the customers happy.
May 06, 2025 路 BrookusleaI would just like to start by saying if I could put less than a 1 star rating I would. We took our 4 month old golden doodle to the vet for the first time today to establish care with Dr. Reid, everything started great the front desk lady was very nice. She greeted our pup and got his weight, temp and an anal swab with no issues from our pup or from her. We waited in the room for 15 minutes (we were the only people there), when the doc and nurse came in neither of them greeted me or my dog. The nurse immediately grabbed him and put him on the table, our pup was very excited to meet new people and started to lick the nurse to which her response was throwing her hands up and backing away. We assured her that he wasn't aggressive and wouldn't bite her but that he just wanted to properly meet her and potentially love on her. The nurse then said that we "NEEDED" to work with him bc he's "crazy". The vet then proceeded to start checking our dogs ears and stated that "I needed to start playing with his ears more", I told him that we actually play with his ears daily and it's something that we've been doing since we got him. Then the vet started examining his teeth and told us his "mouth was dirty and that if we didn't brush them he would die". He then asked what food we feed our pup, we explained that we only feed him a chicken, rice and assorted veggie kibble blend with salmon oil and wet food sometimes, he told us that that wasn't a good food choice and that he was malnourished, our pup weighed in at 21lbs today... his dad is 45 pounds and full grown. The vet them moved into giving our pup his vaccinations, the nurse said "grab his mouth" and had me hold his jaws together with no explanation other than he wouldn't stay still. While the vet was giving him the vaccines he grumbled under his breath multiple times acting like he was annoyed. The vet didn't inform me on what he was giving my dog, he just gave them to him and left with no explanation of any service that he did and without saying bye or any other word. The nurse then told us we NEEDED to send him to training and that we HAD TO get him neutered at 6 months. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone, whether you have a older dog or just a puppy, these people made me feel degraded, less than and provided not a single solution or recommendation to fix any of the things I am "doing wrong". We will not be returning ever again and are severely disappointed in how our dog and how we were treated.
Feb 13, 2025 路 Blayne BoydI brought My 7 year old seizure husky there for a consultation on a CT or something different for the seizures. They were clueless as to why we were there. Appointment was at 10 and we sat in the small room until almost 11 no air hot AF in there. Explained 3 times what was going on with Timber. The girl didn't even write it All down 馃憞 When the vet did come in he acted annoyed when Timber would bark. Tech as well. Basically Timber was telling him off.... He decided to get labs. He had a muzzle put on him, and he acted as if he couldn't see what he was even doing. Couldn't get the vein and when he did get it he pulled needle back out blaming the dog,or tech. Timber was being very patient with him until he kept jabbing that 馃拤 in and out of his skin missing the vein he had already blown. He said were going to have to sedate him, I said yeah that's not happening, his vet doesn't have to sedate him, and she just got his potassium drawn last week... Charged me $45 for a consultation which wasn't even a consultation... I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!!! Needless to say I got out and called Timber's vet and explained our visit. She recommended I call a vet who is a lot closer to home, compassionate and friendly towards your pet.. This Guy is very old and he didn't even introduce himself to us or Timber! Timber goes for a consultation on the 30th of this month...
Apr 15, 2025 路 Eva AveryYou cannot find a better veterinarian or place to take your animals, no matter what their age. Don't listen to the nay sayers on here. This man is so kind hearted and was so sweet and caring with our elderly dog and didn't even charge us for the return visits to make sure her treatment was working. Thank you so much and to all the staff for their care and kindness!!
