We were very happy with the treatment of our cat who lost her eye to an corneal sequestrum. Dr. Donahue was very thorough with our options and treated her with great care. Some reviews I've seen are pretty harsh. Yes it does seem like it's a bit too hectic there. But I think context is important they are basically the only animal eye specialist on the south shore so it is hectic. They are very regimental and thorough and that can come off as hard and harsh. But the care has been wonderful and glad they are there. Otherwise we would have to drive all the way to Walpole or Newton.

Welcome to Animal Eye Specialists

Welcome to Animal Eye Specialists, a specialized pet hospital located at 648 W Center St, West Bridgewater, MA 02379, USA. Operating within the platform category of Pet Hospital, Animal Eye Specialists distinguishes itself by focusing exclusively on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions in animals. This specialized approach makes them a crucial resource for pet owners in the South Shore region of Massachusetts and beyond, particularly for complex or urgent ocular issues that require the expertise of a veterinary ophthalmologist.

Based on the customer reviews, the environment at Animal Eye Specialists can be perceived as "hectic." One reviewer attributed this to the fact that they are "basically the only animal eye specialist on the south shore," suggesting a high demand for their specialized services. While this may lead to a busy atmosphere, it also underscores the importance of their presence in the region, potentially reducing the need for pet owners to travel significant distances for specialized eye care. The reviewer who found the clinic hectic also noted that the staff can seem "regimental and thorough," which, while potentially perceived as "hard and harsh," is linked to the detailed and systematic approach to patient care.

The primary service offered by Animal Eye Specialists is comprehensive veterinary ophthalmology. This includes the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of eye conditions affecting animals, such as corneal sequestrum, as mentioned in one of the positive reviews. Their services likely encompass thorough ocular examinations, medical management of eye diseases, and surgical interventions when necessary. Given that they are specialists, they are likely equipped with specialized diagnostic tools and surgical equipment tailored for ophthalmic procedures. The fact that pet owners seek their care for conditions requiring specialized attention, like the removal of an eye due to a corneal sequestrum, indicates a capacity for advanced ophthalmic treatments.

A key feature of Animal Eye Specialists is the expertise of their veterinary ophthalmologist, Dr. Donahue. One reviewer who was "very happy with the treatment" of their cat specifically praised Dr. Donahue for being "very thorough" in explaining treatment options and for treating their pet "with great care." This positive feedback highlights Dr. Donahue's dedication to providing comprehensive information and a high standard of medical attention. However, another review presents a contrasting experience, alleging a lack of transparency regarding the cost implications of choosing different appointment options and expressing concerns about disorganization and communication.

The positive review also points out a significant feature of Animal Eye Specialists: their crucial role as the only dedicated animal eye specialist in the South Shore area. This regional exclusivity means they provide a vital service to pet owners who would otherwise face long drives to Walpole or Newton for similar specialized care. This accessibility is a significant benefit for the local pet-owning community, even if it contributes to the clinic's busy environment.

The contrasting negative review raises concerns about transparency in billing practices and organizational efficiency. The reviewer reported not being informed about significant cost differences associated with scheduling follow-up appointments on a different day versus leaving the pet for the day. This lack of upfront disclosure led to frustration and additional expense for the pet owner. The reviewer also described their conversation with Dr. Donahue as "not making sense" and characterized the clinic as "very disorganized." This feedback suggests potential challenges in communication and administrative processes that prospective clients might want to be aware of.

Considering the mixed feedback, it is important for local users to weigh both the positive aspects of specialized care and regional accessibility against potential concerns about communication, organization, and transparency in billing. The positive review emphasizes thoroughness and careful treatment, while acknowledging the hectic nature of the clinic due to high demand. The negative review highlights the importance of clear communication regarding costs and expresses concerns about the clinic's organization.

As no promotional information was provided, it is not possible to comment on any special offers or incentives that Animal Eye Specialists might have. Local users seeking specialized eye care for their pets are advised to contact Animal Eye Specialists directly at (508) 897-0505 or +1 508-897-0505 to inquire about their services, appointment procedures, billing practices, and to address any specific concerns they may have based on the available reviews. It would be prudent to ask about the expected costs for different consultation and treatment scenarios to ensure informed decision-making. While the need for a local animal eye specialist is significant, potential clients should also be prepared for a potentially busy environment and ensure clear communication with the clinic regarding all aspects of their pet's care and associated costs.

Dr Donahue neglected to tell me, despite an in depth phone conversation on the very topic, that coming back a different day as opposed to leaving my dog for the day would result in hundreds of dollars more in repeat exam and tests. When I asked him why he didn't disclose this beforehand so i could make an informed choice, he said we need go elsewhere. This will also cost me hundreds in repeat exams rather than putting my hard earned money tward the treatment that my dog needs. This place is very disorganized and the conversation I had with him made no sense

I have been informed By a family friend that there dog came in today. It was a bulldog healthy and strong just went to get a shot. Little did they know that day would be the last day because the doctor put in the wrong shot . This is very unprofessional and should be put out of business ASAP

In this day and age, people seem to take the time to complain, belittle or sabotage an individual but very few will give credit where it is due. Several months ago, much to my dismay and heartbreak, I discovered my young Siberian Husky had bilateral juvenile cataracts. Obviously I was devastated and anxious to have her seen by a top ophthalmologist. Upon entering Dr. Donohue’s office, I was immediately put at ease by the friendly and polite staff and the clean atmosphere. Dr. Donohue was amazing with my puppy! He was truly interested in getting to know her, put her at ease and spend some time with us before beginning his extremely thorough exam. She was seen several times before I made the decision to proceed with surgery. Dr. Donohue explained all the tests, treatments and medications that were to happen and personally called to see how she was doing leading up to the surgery. On the day of surgery, I was obviously quite nervous, and the doctor took the time out of his busy schedule to speak to me prior to surgery. I’m delighted to say, not only did the surgery go well but the entire outcome was positive. My Miska has her vision back, is pain free and looks phenomenal! I can’t say enough positive things about this practice.

My dog had a pigmentation disease in both eyes and 2 popped ulcers in his left eye. Dr Donahue saved my dog’s sight. He’s exceptionally smart, diligent and respectful. He showed me what he saw and provided options before having to do surgery. I highly recommend him!
