This center offers a comprehensive and unique approach to animal care, blending traditional veterinary medicine with a wide array of alternative and holistic therapies. Serving the community of Elk River and surrounding areas, including Zimmerman, Princeton, Otsego, Rogers, St. Francis, Big Lake, Ramsey, and Anoka, the Animal & Exotic Wellness Center is easily accessible and can be reached via phone at (763) 633-7387 or mobile at +1 763-633-7387.
As a Pet Hospital, the Animal & Exotic Wellness Center provides an extensive range of services and goods for sale, catering not only to traditional pets like dogs and cats but also specializing in the care of a diverse array of exotic animals, including birds, reptiles (such as bearded dragons), and pocket pets. This specialization in exotic animals is a significant distinguishing factor, setting them apart from many general veterinary practices. Their holistic medical approach, which emphasizes looking at the "whole animal" including physical, nutritional, environmental, social, and emotional aspects, ensures a well-rounded and deeply caring approach to pet health.
The environment at the Animal & Exotic Wellness Center is consistently described as welcoming and supportive, designed to put both pets and their owners at ease. Customer testimonials frequently highlight the staff's kindness and the overall positive atmosphere. For owners bringing in anxious pets, or those with unique exotic animals, a calm and reassuring environment is paramount. The clinic’s commitment to providing an experience that goes beyond merely accomplishing a "task" – as one review put it – signifies their dedication to creating a caring and comfortable space for all visitors. This nurturing environment fosters trust and reduces the stress often associated with vet visits, especially for sensitive animals.
The services offered by the Animal & Exotic Wellness Center are remarkably diverse, reflecting their integrative approach to veterinary medicine. They provide all standard wellness services, including bi-annual wellness exams, individualized vaccination protocols (including 3-year rabies and distemper booster vaccines), heartworm testing and prevention, internal and external parasite prevention, and microchip implantation. Beyond conventional care, their offerings extend significantly into alternative and holistic solutions such as acupuncture, Chinese herbs, flower essence remedies, whole food supplements, food therapy, Young Living Essential Oils, and animal chiropractic. They also utilize Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). For diagnostic needs, they boast a full diagnostic hospital with an in-house laboratory for complete blood counts, chemistry profiles, heartworm and tick-borne disease testing, feline leukemia and immuno-deficiency testing, fecal and urine analysis, and radiology. Surgical services include spay and neuters, dental cleaning and extractions, laceration repair, mass removals, cryosurgery, eye lid surgery, urinary bladder surgery, and exploratory and foreign body removal. Their dedicated avian and exotic services include wellness exams, medical diagnostics and treatment, skilled surgical procedures, proper wing trims, nail trims, beak care, complete 3-part fecal analysis, nutrition evaluation, body condition scoring, and non-invasive DNA sexing. Furthermore, they offer compassionate end-of-life services such as pain management, humane euthanasia, and private or group cremation.
A key feature of the Animal & Exotic Wellness Center is their exceptional staff, led by Dr. Jina Andrews-Neiderer, DVM. Customer reviews consistently praise the staff for being "amazing," "so kind," "SO NICE," and genuinely caring about both the pet and the owner. The personal touch and evident compassion make a significant difference, as highlighted by a client who felt their previous vet visits were just "a task." The staff's willingness to answer all questions, provide educational pamphlets, and even demonstrate procedures (like giving a therapeutic soak to a bearded dragon) showcases their dedication to client education and empowerment. Dr. Andrews-Neiderer, a 2003 graduate of the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine, has a special interest in Small Animal, Avian, and Exotic medicine and surgery. Her commitment to integrating conventional medicine with alternative therapies, such as her graduation from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, is a testament to the clinic's unique and comprehensive care philosophy. The presence of clinic cats (Spud, Sid, and Boco), who are often found interacting with visitors, further enhances the warm and friendly atmosphere. The long-standing presence of Dr. Andrews-Neiderer as the owner and primary veterinarian, having established the center in 2009, speaks to their deep roots in the community and consistent quality of care.
While specific promotional offers like discounts or loyalty programs are not explicitly mentioned in the available information, the Animal & Exotic Wellness Center's strongest promotional asset lies in its outstanding reputation and client testimonials. The "Highly recommend!!!" feedback from satisfied customers serves as powerful word-of-mouth marketing. Their specialization in exotic animals is a clear draw for owners of non-traditional pets, as finding qualified care for these animals can often be challenging. The clinic's online presence, which includes details about their holistic approach and extensive list of services, also serves as a promotional tool, informing potential clients about their unique blend of traditional and alternative therapies. The emphasis on education, providing pamphlets and videos, also acts as a form of promotion by demonstrating their commitment to empowering pet owners. Their comprehensive care, combined with the genuine compassion of their staff, creates a compelling value proposition that attracts and retains a loyal client base within the Elk River community and beyond.

Apr 26, 2025 · Jes SmithOur experience with these guys has been the best! We had previously been with a different vet in Zimmerman and while they accomplished the "task" that's really all it felt like, "a task". When we decided to try Animal & Exotic their staff is what immediately made the difference. They are SO NICE and you can tell they actually care about your pet and you.
Mar 23, 2025 · Ash KeenanWORST EXPERIENCE EVER, THINK TWICE ABOUT YOUR BIRD OR CHICKEN HERE. We brought our loved 7 year old Buff Orpington hen (Louise) to have her crop looked at and treated if necessary. Her appointment was at 10:15, didn’t see the vet tech until 10:30 and finally at 10:40 Jina entered the room. I agreed to a procedure to have her crop drained, x-rays taken and a fecal exam to determine what was causing the issue. I was told that Jina removed the liquid and Louise was doing great over the phone and nothing abnormal was found on the x-rays or fecal exam. When I arrived to pick Louise up I was told by the vet technician that she is still gurgling but she will be fine and not to worry about it because she had taken some liquid in her lungs. 8 years of chicken ownership and tending told me that this was not good but I had no other choice… vet Jina was gone and I was sent on my way with Louise gasping for breath, gurgling liquid and a $425 bill . 5 minutes later she choked to death on my lap driving home. I called the next morning to voice my concerns/irritations and it was received by Jina in a defensive and combative manner. I was told that she is not “god”, talked over repeatedly and treated horribly. Zero remorse, zero compassion, horrible bed side manners. I wish I would have looked at the other negative reviews about her before bringing one of my loved pets to her… never again.
Apr 14, 2025 · Rich DelakI cannot praise this vet clinic enough! Our little rat terrier needed care quickly and is one who slowly warms up to people. Gabby our vet tech- our Abbie girl just took to her like I’ve never seen. It really made me feel like we found a true caring staff for her. Dr. Jina was so sweet- gentle- and explained everything and made both Abbie and I so comfortable. I did read some of the other reviews and I am betting there is more to the stories shared because this place is AMAZING!! Highly recommended!! Love Gabby and Dr. Jina
Dec 25, 2024 · Beth EbnerI was so grateful we were able to get our bengal cat because someone else had canceled. She had been really sick for 3 days. She was so lethargic I thought she was dying. They were able to diagnose her bladder infection in a timely manner. Prices comparable to our normal vet. Previously in the week we had taken her to an emergency vet. Where they took our money, but no diagnoses. Thank you Animal & Exotics. This is a pic of our kitty before and then just 2 hours after our appointment.
