I waited a few days to collect my thoughts and grieve a little. This is going to be a long review. The only reason I am rating highly is because one person shouldn’t ruin an experience…. Kristen should not be in this line of work. She was extremely rude and the first person we interacted with. We pulled in with our 12 1/2 year old sickly best friend and asked for some assistance getting her out of the car because we didn’t want to hurt her and she could barely walk let alone jump out of the car. Kristen first said “I don’t have a gurney available we have an actual big sick dog on it, so it’s in use”. We explained that she could walk just needed help to safely get her out of the car. (We wanted to do it properly so she wasn’t injured in her fragile state, we were unsure of the best way to approach it as she was in a lot of pain). Kristen then opened our sweet girls mouth looked at her gums and said “they’re pink. She’s fine.”. She then snatch our dog out of the car very aggressively and set her down not gently. My mom, sister and I all gasped out loud as to what we just witnessed. Kristen again said “she’s fine”. I replied “if she’s fine then fix her”. We filled out paperwork and went to a room where I tried to assure my mother and sister we were probably just not use to this and it’s normal and she probably did the right thing and is trained to do so and we were taking it wrong she wasn’t being rude it was our emotions likely heightened because we were anxious but I was in fact wrong. The amazing vet with purple hair came in and looked at our girls gums and told us they were yellow, she was in liver failure and in fact not okay. She ordered blood-work so we could evaluate what was happening and go from there. A vet tech came to get our girl to take her to another room for the draw. Our dog was very nervous and didn’t want to go. I offered to walk with them to the room and then leave when they did the draw. Instead, the vet tech asked Kristen to come in and help get my dog to the room. Kristen walked into the room. I repeated that she was very nervous, again Kristen said she’s fine. She then snatched the leash from my hand and yanked on my sick dogs neck to make her walk. I am not sure how I kept it cool in this moment. When the vet returned, we informed her we no longer wanted to be around Kristen, thankfully she went home for the night. This woman should not be working with animals. It takes a special type of person to handle these things. You have to be kind and consider that they aren’t just animals to some people, they are their family members. She needs to find a different job Or receive more training though, I have a feeling it is just who she is deep down. She is the first person you interact with when it comes to this clinic, basically the face of the company. (Not one I would want to allow to represent my business). If I had any other option that night, I would have left after encountering her. I thankfully stayed. The vet we had was amazing despite the circumstances. We ended up having to lay our girl to rest that night to end her suffering. The vet explained everything in detail, the options that we had, and her recommendations. She was honest. You can tell that she loves not only her job and animals, but The people that care for them. She sat on the floor with us as we sobbed. She explained everything to us as it was happening, comforting us, and knowing that our girl was going to be taken care of no matter the circumstances. She gave our girl the best end of life care we could have asked for. We need more vets like her. Every person there was kind and considerate (with the exception of Kristen). Thank you to the vet with purple hair and finger tattoos for not only taking care of our girl, but for also considering us on the worst day of our life. Keep doing what you’re doing!

The doctors are incredibly helpful & HONEST as well as the STAFF! I had two separate situations: first, my dog broke out in hives and had an allergic reaction. They saw him immediately at night, gave him a steroid shot and a Benadryl injection, and he cleared up right away. In another instance, my other dog ate the entire contents of my garbage. The doctors gave her medication to induce vomiting, followed by an IV for hydration, which saved us from an expensive surgery. They could have made up a story but they did the healthiest and cheapest most helpful choice for our boy & girl 🐶 🐶

We lost our kitty 2/18/2025 in the middle of the night from FIP and had to drive 45 minutes to have him cremated. From the night we brought him in, to picking him up today, the girls working there were nothing but kind to us. Very grateful for them making an unbelievably hard night just a little bit easier. They handled him with so much care, even when handing us the bag with his urn inside. Thank you for being so kind to us and our favorite little guy.

10/10 recommend this clinic as I have brought my dachshund Millie here twice now recently and I couldn’t have asked for any better care than she received both times! Both visits were emergency situations where they started treatment right away and always answered any questions/concerns I had while thoroughly explaining everything each visit. This last visit was particularly very scary for me as Millie was in labor & straining for awhile but producing no puppy so I rushed her to the clinic and on the way there her puppy got stuck in the birth canal so when we arrived and rushed in, they wasted no time and immediately took her back and Dr. Richie helped deliver her 2 puppies and made sure to monitor her and babies for awhile before going home. They gave me updates the whole time she was in the back on her condition and how she was doing which put my mind at ease and gave me comfort knowing she was in good hands because I was a complete nervous wreck! I’m so thankful for Dr. Richie & Dr. Stone, the vet techs and all the staff here and beyond grateful for everything they did for our Millie and how caring & compassionate they all were in our time of need. I will definitely bring my Millie here again in the future if I ever need to. My family and I cannot thank the doctors and the rest of the staff enough!

I would definitely recommend animal emergency of Hernando. We have been here a few times With our animals. The staff is friendly and explains everything well, and Dr Pyle was great and thorough. Did not do any unnecessary diagnostics or try to upsell us. They took great care of our dog Penny that had to have surgery to remove a fast growing abscess on her face and even gave us a discount on some services since our bill as a bit high (but very reasonably for an after hours emergency/surgery visit) They are always busy so please have some grace for them if you have to wait a bit!
