It’s unfortunate that there are no 24/7 after hour animal hospitals in Southern Illinois. With that said; we would highly recommend this facility. The entire staff was caring, genuine and reassuring. We felt comfortable with them caring for our furbaby. All of the staff was understanding and incredibly thorough. We know he is not totally out of the woods but we think they saved our Tater Tots life and will be forever grateful. There’s no words to express how thankful we are and would highly recommend them for your pets emergency care.

This highlights a significant feature of the Animal Emergency Center: its role in filling the gap for after-hours and weekend emergency care, a service that is reportedly lacking in the wider Southern Illinois area. The reviewer praised the gentle and caring demeanor of the staff, even in the difficult circumstance of having to make the decision for euthanasia. The act of bringing a phone out to the car for the owner and the subsequent sending of a sympathy card demonstrate a level of care that extends beyond the immediate medical needs, acknowledging the emotional distress of the pet owner.

Jan 19, 2025 · Darrin BartleyI could feel the love from this place when I had to bring my 18 year old Chihuahua that was having a prolonged seizure on a Sunday when all other places were closed, I was in such a rush I forgot my phone, but they brought one out to my car for me to use, everyone was so gentle and caring with him, they gave me all the options but I knew that God had decided that this was the time, they euthanized him in my arms and I brought him home to be buried next to his cousin my Mom's dog. They even sent me a greeting card in the mail the week after and when I opened it, all I could do was cry. Even in the midst of one of my worst days the staff made it exceptional. 🙏🐶
Jan 27, 2025 · David LyonsI truly appreciate this place! When my baby needed immediate attention, they were open and closer than our usual St. Louis emergency vet. I don't like that I cannot go in with my pet, but I understand as they are understaffed and crowded with too many patients. The vet was friendly, compassionate, and honest about what could happen, what did end up happening, and did not charge me for unnecessary items or services. I love that they are available when I need them, but I think we all hope I don't need them anytime soon.
Apr 10, 2025 · Kiaya MadisonThey might provide good medical care but their customer service and efficiency are seriously lacking. They will not allow owners in the building with their pets. They made us wait for over an hour and half. We could not see our dog. They bring one piece of paper out at a time. I do not recommend this clinic. Drive to Hawthorne.
