I have taken 3 family members now to see Dr Danniels and her suggested protocols have been helpful for all 3. They each have different issues. We enjoy the bedside manners and ease of communication with all staff at front desk and Jake who assists with the visits. We have visited other clinics and this is our preferred dermatologist and ear clinic.

Animal Dermatology Clinic Introduce
For pet owners in Pasadena, California, and surrounding areas dealing with persistent skin and ear issues in their beloved companions, Animal Dermatology Clinic offers specialized veterinary care. Located at 150 N San Gabriel Blvd #400, Pasadena, CA 91107, USA, this facility operates within the broader "Pet Hospital" category, though its primary focus is on dermatology and otology (ear conditions). You can contact them by phone at (626) 577-8181 or via mobile at +1 626-577-8181.
As a specialized clinic, Animal Dermatology Clinic's environment is tailored to support advanced diagnostics and treatments for dermatological and otological conditions. While specific aesthetic details are not provided, one would expect a clean, professional, and well-equipped facility. This would include specialized examination rooms, potentially with equipment for otoscopy, microscopy, and allergy testing. The focus on dermatology and ear health means the clinic is designed to handle cases that often require more in-depth investigation than general practice veterinarians might provide. Being located in a medical or office building suggests a professional and focused environment. The address on N San Gabriel Blvd implies reasonable accessibility for clients within Pasadena and neighboring communities, with parking likely available as part of the building complex.
Animal Dermatology Clinic is a referral-based specialty clinic, meaning their services are highly focused on conditions related to the skin, coat, and ears. Their offerings typically include:
- Diagnosis and Management of Skin Diseases: This includes a wide range of conditions such as allergies (environmental, food, flea allergy dermatitis), autoimmune skin diseases, parasitic skin infections (e.g., mange), fungal infections (e.g., ringworm), bacterial skin infections, and hormonal skin disorders.
- Ear Disease Management: Specialization in otology covers chronic ear infections, foreign bodies in the ear canal, ear mites, and assessment for surgical interventions when necessary.
- Allergy Testing and Treatment: A significant portion of their work involves identifying allergens through intradermal skin testing or serum testing and developing tailored treatment plans, including immunotherapy (allergy shots or oral drops).
- Biopsies and Histopathology: For definitive diagnosis of certain skin conditions, they would perform skin biopsies for microscopic examination.
- Advanced Diagnostics: This might include advanced imaging for ear canals, such as video otoscopy, and specialized laboratory tests.
- Client Education: Given the often chronic nature of dermatological issues, thorough client education on home care, medication administration, and long-term management strategies is typically a strong focus.
The specialization means that while they may not offer general practice services like routine vaccinations or spay/neuter surgeries, they provide a depth of expertise in their niche that general veterinarians might not. They often work in conjunction with referring veterinarians to provide comprehensive care.
A prominent distinguishing feature of Animal Dermatology Clinic is its specialized focus and the expertise of its veterinarians, particularly Dr. Danniels. One highly positive review highlights Dr. Danniels' effectiveness, stating that her "suggested protocols have been helpful for all 3" family pets with different issues. This underscores her diagnostic acumen and ability to tailor treatment plans for complex and varied dermatological conditions. The positive reviewer also commends the "bedside manners and ease of communication with all staff at front desk and Jake who assists with the visits," indicating a supportive and communicative team. This customer explicitly states it is their "preferred dermatologist and ear clinic," suggesting a high level of satisfaction with the specialized care received.
However, the provided reviews also reveal significant and concerning issues regarding administrative practices and overall customer satisfaction for other clients. One highly negative review criticizes the clinic for long hold times ("15-20 minutes") simply "to be charged $230+ UP FRONT before they even make the appointment." This policy of upfront payment before even securing an appointment is a significant deterrent and is viewed as a "shady" practice. The same reviewer goes on to express extreme dissatisfaction with the overall service quality, using harsh language to describe the staff and the clinic as an "embarrassment of a place," wishing for "ZERO stars." This stark contrast in reviews suggests a highly variable customer experience, where the specialized medical expertise might be excellent for some, but administrative policies and perceived service quality are major frustrations for others. The mandatory upfront payment for scheduling is a particular point of concern for potential clients, as it reflects a transactional approach that may overshadow the patient care aspect for some.
While specific promotional offers are not detailed in the provided information, Animal Dermatology Clinic's primary "promotion" is its specialized expertise in veterinary dermatology and ear conditions. They aim to attract pet owners whose pets suffer from chronic or complex skin and ear issues that may not have been resolved by general practitioners. The positive testimonials regarding Dr. Danniels's effective protocols and the supportive staff are strong endorsements for their medical capabilities. For pet owners whose pets have persistent dermatological problems, a specialist clinic like this offers the promise of a more targeted and effective diagnosis and treatment plan.
However, prospective clients must be fully aware of the reported administrative practices. The policy of requiring a significant upfront payment before an appointment is even scheduled is a critical piece of information that could influence a pet owner's decision. It is essential for potential clients to consider if they are comfortable with this financial policy and any associated wait times. While the medical specialization is a clear advantage for specific health issues, the mixed customer feedback suggests that the overall client experience may vary. Pet owners are advised to inquire directly about all fees, payment policies, and appointment procedures before committing to avoid potential frustration. For those prioritizing specialized care for specific dermatological or otological conditions and prepared for the clinic's administrative procedures, Animal Dermatology Clinic may offer the expertise needed for their pet's health challenges.

Feb 23, 2024 · claudia garciaBe prepared to be placed on hold for 15-20 minutes just to be charged $230+ UP FRONT before they even make the appointment. I think all of the competent veterinary staff either left the field or killed themselves, because this place is like the island of misfit toys for people who weren't good enough to become real healthcare workers. Save your time and money, don't waste either of those things at this godforsaken embarrassment of a place. If there were an option for ZERO stars I'd pick it.
Apr 13, 2025 · Loo OoSTAY ALERT ON PRESCRIPTION MEDS PRICES! My cat was prescribed medication that is $4 on Chewy but they charged $90 for the same amount of pills. When I asked why such a huge price difference, they explained that its the same med but they get pills directly from the manufacturer while Chewy gets them from 3rd parties. I said I feel completely ripped off because I trusted them and did not compare the prices, and they took advantage of me. The receptionist said "yes, you can feel that way" LOL. I mentioned they could at least advise their customers about getting pills for much cheaper but of course they would not, they only care about their profits! Not ever coming back
Mar 25, 2025 · Yulia BaldwinWe had such a great experience here when our dog had some skin issues that needed timely care. Dr. Ewing was incredibly caring and helpful, he spent so much time with us and prioritized our needs, even touching base over the weekend to make sure everything was moving forward. The staff was all super helpful too and kind. We are so grateful.
