Won't give a round-about estimate over the phone. Requires consultation, which you have to pay for. I'm seeking a vet for a surgery that could range from 800- 10k depending on who you call. You should be able to tell me your price range without charging! This screams money hungry to me. Lord have mercy. Give people a break. Vet care is expensive enough! Hints why I'm calling around! Do better.

Environment and Client Experience

The environment at Animal Care Clinic, as reflected in client feedback, evokes a mixed but generally positive impression focusing on the quality of care received. While one review expresses frustration over pricing transparency for complex surgeries, another highlights extreme satisfaction with the service and the care provided by Dr. Pelfrey herself. The positive review underscores that "Dr. Pelfrey is amazing, she cares about our fur babies, they always get me in quick with no problems." This suggests an environment where compassion for the animals is a priority, and the staff strives for efficiency in scheduling, especially for urgent needs. The clinic aims to create a setting where pet owners feel their concerns are heard and their "fur babies" receive attentive and caring treatment. Despite some concerns about initial consultation fees, the core sentiment points to a dedicated team that is focused on providing effective medical care.

Their services are designed to cater to pets requiring routine preventative care, as well as those needing more specialized medical and surgical interventions. Based on available information, their offerings include:

  • Veterinary General Practice: This forms the foundation of their services, covering routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control, and overall wellness examinations to keep pets healthy throughout their lives.
  • Emergency and Critical Care: The clinic is equipped to handle emergency situations during business hours, providing immediate and critical medical attention when pets are in distress. For after-hours emergencies, clients are typically referred to specialized emergency veterinary hospitals.

  • Advanced Diagnostics: To accurately diagnose conditions, the clinic utilizes sophisticated tools such as digital X-rays for clear imaging and diagnostic laboratory services for in-depth analysis of blood work, urinalysis, and other samples.
  • Dental Care and Cleaning: Comprehensive dental services are provided to address oral health issues, which are vital for a pet's overall well-being. This typically includes professional cleanings and extractions when necessary.

Promotional Information and Financial Considerations

While specific ongoing promotional deals from Animal Care Clinic, Dr. Lisa Pelfrey, are not extensively detailed in general public information, veterinary practices universally aim to make quality care accessible. Regarding the concern about pricing transparency, it's important to understand the complexities of veterinary surgery estimates. The wide range cited (e.g., $800-$10,000) for a surgical procedure can be due to numerous variables: the specific condition, its severity, the animal's age and overall health, potential complications, the need for advanced diagnostics (like MRI or CT scans), and post-operative care. Many clinics require a consultation to accurately assess these factors before providing a detailed, and thus more precise, estimate. This initial consultation often involves a physical exam and preliminary diagnostics, which are chargeable services. The clinic's policy of requiring a consultation for an estimate is a common practice in veterinary medicine to ensure responsible and accurate pricing based on a pet's individual needs.

However, clinics also understand the financial burden of pet care. Animal Care Clinic is listed as accepting CareCredit, a popular financing option that allows pet owners to manage healthcare costs through flexible payment plans. This can be a significant benefit for owners facing unexpected or high-cost veterinary bills. Like most reputable veterinary hospitals, they likely also accept various pet insurance plans, encouraging owners to consider insuring their pets to mitigate financial risks associated with accidents and illnesses. Potential clients are always advised to discuss payment options and treatment plans thoroughly with the clinic staff to ensure full understanding before proceeding with services.

In summary, Animal Care Clinic, with Dr. Lisa Pelfrey, is a dedicated pet hospital in Chillicothe, OH, providing a broad range of veterinary services from routine wellness to emergency and surgical care. Despite some expressed concerns about initial cost estimates, the clinic appears to be highly regarded for its compassionate staff, quick service, and commitment to leveraging modern technology for pet health, making it a valuable resource for pet owners in the area.

We usually take our baby to Animal Care Clinic, which we love and will continue to take her there for check ups and shots. She needed spayed but they do not do laser therapy which we wanted for our furbaby. They took great care of her. Recovery was great.
