While waiting in the exam room, (which has no doors) I could clearly hear the staff in the office, (which also has no door) laughing and carrying on while one of them bashed gay people with zero regard for who was listening. They do not update records properly; whenever we leave, the discharge paperwork always has my dog's info from her first visit with them 4 years ago (age and weight never updated). I stayed for a few years trying to deal with them but that last visit was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Also drastically overcharge for any medications you get through them.

Welcome to Animal Care Center
The Animal Care Center, located at 4925 Maryville Rd, Granite City, IL 62040, USA, serves the local community as a pet hospital, providing various veterinary services for companion animals. For inquiries or to schedule an appointment, they can be reached at (618) 931-6535 or +1 618-931-6535.
As a category of "Pet Hospital" on various platforms, the Animal Care Center aims to offer medical attention and general wellness services for pets. These establishments typically provide a range of services from routine check-ups and vaccinations to more complex diagnostic procedures and treatments. The core business of a pet hospital revolves around maintaining and improving the health of animals, selling related goods such as specialized pet food or preventative medications, and offering guidance to pet owners on proper animal care.
Regarding the environment, based on customer feedback, the Animal Care Center's examination rooms and office areas reportedly have an open layout, lacking doors. This open design may contribute to a less private setting, where conversations from staff in the office could be audible in the waiting or exam areas. While some pet owners might appreciate a more open feel, others might prefer more secluded spaces for sensitive discussions or to minimize noise. The waiting area is where clients and their pets will spend time before appointments, and the overall cleanliness and comfort of this space are typically important for a positive experience. The presence of adequate seating, a calm atmosphere, and measures to keep different animal species comfortable and separate can contribute to a better environment for both pets and their owners.
As a veterinary care provider, the Animal Care Center is expected to offer a variety of services essential for pet health. These commonly include:
- Routine Check-ups and Wellness Exams: Regular examinations are crucial for preventative care, helping to detect potential health issues early.
- Vaccinations: Protecting pets from common and serious diseases through a tailored vaccination schedule.
- Diagnostic Services: This can encompass a range of tools like blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams, and potentially imaging services such as X-rays, to diagnose various conditions.
- Parasite Control: Prevention and treatment for fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites.
- Dental Care: Professional dental cleanings and extractions to maintain oral hygiene and prevent dental diseases.
- Surgical Procedures: Ranging from routine spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries.
- Pharmacy Services: Dispensing necessary medications for various conditions.
- Nutritional Counseling: Advice on appropriate diets for pets of different ages, breeds, and health conditions.
- Behavioral Counseling: Guidance for common behavioral issues.
- Emergency Care: While not explicitly stated as a 24/7 emergency clinic, many veterinary practices offer some level of urgent care during business hours.
Given the nature of a "Pet Hospital" category, these services are fundamental to their operation, aiming to provide comprehensive care for the well-being of animals.
Customer experiences at the Animal Care Center appear to be mixed. One recurring point of feedback relates to record keeping and billing practices. A review indicates that discharge paperwork sometimes contains outdated information regarding a pet's age and weight from initial visits, suggesting potential inconsistencies in updating patient records. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the cost of medications obtained through the center, with one client feeling they were "drastically overcharged." These aspects relate to the administrative efficiency and pricing transparency of the clinic, which are important considerations for pet owners.
On the other hand, positive feedback highlights a perception of genuine care from the staff. One long-term client expressed satisfaction, stating that the staff "act like they actually CARE!" and found their services "reasonable." This suggests that for some clients, the quality of care and the perceived compassion of the veterinary team are significant factors in their continued patronage. The balance between administrative efficiency, pricing, and the quality of compassionate care often shapes a client's overall satisfaction with a veterinary practice.
Veterinary clinics typically engage in various forms of promotion to attract and retain clients. For the Animal Care Center, promotional efforts might include:
- Community Engagement: Participating in local events, sponsoring pet adoption drives, or offering educational seminars on pet health.
- Online Presence: Maintaining an active website with information about services, staff bios, and pet health resources. Social media channels can also be used to share updates, pet care tips, and promote special offers.
- Client Referral Programs: Offering incentives to existing clients who refer new customers.
- New Client Offers: Providing discounts on initial exams or services for new pet owners.
- Seasonal Promotions: Campaigns around specific health needs, such as dental health month, or discounts on certain vaccinations during peak seasons.
- Wellness Plans: Offering structured payment plans for routine care, which can help pet owners budget for their pet's health needs and encourage regular visits.
Given the positive feedback regarding staff care, emphasizing the compassionate approach and dedication of their team could be a strong promotional point for the Animal Care Center. Addressing concerns about record accuracy or medication pricing through transparent communication or revised practices could also enhance client trust and overall reputation.
In summary, Animal Care Center operates as a local pet hospital in Granite City, IL, providing essential veterinary services. While some clients have raised concerns about administrative details and medication costs, others commend the staff's caring approach and the perceived reasonableness of their services. Potential clients should consider these varied experiences when evaluating the clinic for their pet's veterinary needs.

Dec 12, 2024 · Amber KlobeBeen taking my Shelby girl there for 2 years... great place reasonable and they act like they actually CARE! Had all her services through here and will continue!
Nov 12, 2024 · Paula DouglasHorrible euthanasia experience. I do not recommend their services. We would have been better off paying a higher bill at a different clinic. Seriously, please look elsewhere. I wish we did. The young nurse assisting was nice though. It seemed like she felt bad about how things went.
May 25, 2024 · bAmazing group! Called several vets, when our older female ferret was having seizures from heart issue, all of them said to put our baby girl down would be If less than a pound (lb) = $250 If more than a pound (lb) =$350+ ... We were left in utter disbelief. Finally, I got ahold of Animal Care Center. They only charged us $60 flat no matter what his size was (because it's a freaking ferret, they're small!). No appointment, rushed him right to them in granite city/pontoon beach area. They were busy with two other dog emergencies that came in right after us. After all was said and done, they let us stay in the room with our baby girl for as long as we needed to collect ourselves. They were so empathetic. You can FEEL they ACTUALLY care ♥️ Won't go anywhere else for our fur babies (2 calico cats, 2 spoiled 100lb dogs, and 2 ferrets). Would recommend to anyone and everyone! If Animal Care Center sees this. You all are absolute angels. Thank you sooooo freaking much!!!
Jul 07, 2024 · Heather KingThey charge way to much and made me feel like my money was more important than my dogs life. Also they made him more sick with all the alcohol they sprayed the room with and their information about the tics he couldn't help that they wouldn't even help us remove while we were there which was why he was so sick in the first place was wrong. I looked it up. Cockroaches and termites are what can get into your walls and procreate along with mice. I will never go there again! Making money and scamming people is all they care about, your pet means nothing to them.
