Anchor Bay Veterinary Center

I had my dog in for a neuter on Monday. They gave him a Penicillin injection, and prescribed Amoxicillin for him to go home with. I had worked in Veterinary Medicine for years, and had never heard of that but let it go. I also asked about a cone for his procedure upon pickup, and was told "he should be fine". By Tuesday he was unable to hold his urine, straining to pee, and hind end shaking. Wednesday he was vomiting, didn't sleep at all in the night, and would not eat. Still straining to pee and urinating all over the house (on accident). I called to speak with someone on this, and I was told I would need to make an appointment. I explained that they were over an hour from me (this is not my regular vet, it is the vet the rescue used), and asked if they would be waving my exam fee to be seen since he was just in on Monday. Again, after working in vet med it is pretty customary to get a free recheck after a procedure. I was cut off while asking and was just told "That is completely up to the Doctor". Got it. Can someone please ask before I drive over an hour each way or pay my regular vet to fix a problem that he did not start? I told her never mind, and contacted my regular vet. My regular vet said that he also had never heard of a standard neuter resulting in such an exorbitant amount of antibiotics, and wondered if there was some sort of contamination during the procedure that I was not made aware of. My vet also mentioned that the pain medication that he was put on, is really not standard for the procedure that he was given. I spent $400 at my current vet (more than the cost of the neuter), and we are hoping that they did not do any internal damage which is making it hard for him to hold his bladder, or be unsure when to release it. Overall, I am not pleased with the level of care OR the client service. I would not recommend you bring your pet here, and based upon the reviews there is an overall lack of care by many. Save your pets and your wallets, find another provider.

Excellent, knowledgeable care for your pet. Dr went out of his way to save the day for my Husky. Ever since Anchor Bay has been my Veterinary.They genuinely care and costs are reasonable. Staff is thoughtful and helpful. Janae is an amazing groomer. My dog always leaves happier and looking extra handsome. So grateful I found the perfect Veterinary Center for my dog.

I love Dr. Zaffer and his staff at ABV Clinic! Reece is VERY anxious and temperamental when he’s nervous and all the staff and the Dr. were VERY accommodating from the minute we came in! They are all experienced, caring, and well rounded for diverse fur baby personalities and needs! They explained costs and didn’t leave me feeling confused at the end of our visit. Thank You, for your kindness and helping with my Boy! I know he’s difficult…. We have been coming here for years and I’ve brought 2 of my other dogs here and every time, we all have been treated respectfully!

My dog was fixed here, and he is having so many complications and the receptionist won’t allow me to speak to a vet or a vet tech when I call (3x). I don’t know what happened during his fix but I think something happened and they’re trying to hide it. After reading other reviews I definitely should’ve gone anywhere else. Don’t waste your time or money and save your pets from this nightmare.

Very great vet! Very pleased with the level or care I have received. Each staff member has taken their time with me, to answer each of my questions. This vet practice makes you feel very cared for and their wiliness to help is incredible! 10/10
