I currently have a corgi, soon to be 3 years old that we’ve been taking to American Veterinary Services since he was puppy. He has received wellness checks, vaccines, acupuncture, testing and treatment for unexpected mishaps. We’ve known Walter the vet for a few years and have trusted him with the care of our pets since our first dog that was a chihuahua. The staff is super friendly, compassionate, and understanding of our pets needs. They’re reliably accessible for appointments during the week and weekends. If anything comes up after visit it’s easy to text them with any follow up questions/ concerns. They are conveniently located near Manchester Ave exit when coming from Downtown Los Angeles and have parking. We look forward to continuing our relationship with American Veterinary Services for many years to come.

I really enjoy coming here! The team is knowledgeable, and their services are fast and efficient. However, they only accept Venmo as a payment option, which is inconvenient since they don’t take debit cards or other payment methods. I’d love to visit again if they could expand their payment options.

Do not go here. This place only cares about taking your money and they don't even pretend to care about your pet. (No vengan. Este lugar es caro y chafa)! They REQUIRE Zelle or Venmo BEFORE you are seen and the doctor won’t come in to see your pet in the patient room until you pay. So if there is any delay from your banking apps you will need to wait until payment is received. They repeat this process every time there is a new service rendered. I’ve never experienced this odd way of payment collection before. The receptionist and the vet purposely scared me into thinking my cat was gravely ill in order to tack on a hefty vet bill. My cat had a cut under his chin about the size of a pea and I was charged waaaaay too much and offered waaaay too many services I don’t believe my cat actually needed during this visit!! My cat has had actual surgery, stitches and treatment for a much worse injury elsewhere and the cost of that was actually reasonable in comparison to the American Veterinary Services. What gives? Why is this place so expensive? For what? They also do not email or print a receipt with an itemized list of treatments rendered so I was basically in the dark about what my cat was getting. I was briefly shown a list in order of approval prior to sending Zelle but once the payment went through I only got a basic hand written receipt. 🤨 Again, this is unusual and suspicious, especially when they absolutely refused to work with me to shorten the list of items they were suggesting for my cat. I have never come across a place with such unprofessionalism, gouging prices and poor bedside manner (the vet repeatedly laughed in my face about me stressing over my cat's recovery from what he determined was a serious infection). Honestly I felt like the vet was laughing so much bc of how badly I got ripped off… I will continue to speak up and let my friends, family, fellow pet owners in the area, local non-profits, and new pet owners that I come across to NEVER step foot in this place. Plus this part of town is SUPER sketchy so even though they can’t control that, it doesn’t help. It is such a shame, I had high hopes for great care for my cat.

Dr. Walter is an Amazing veterinarian who cares , And is honest about What is the best situation for your pets needs . The pricing is beyond reasonable. And the staff is wonderful.

American Veterinary Service has been my veterinary provider for over 15 years. They have taken care of my dogs multiple times. I always get great, prompt and quality service. My terriers have struggled with allergies for several years, Dr. Walter always takes care of my dog Snoop. Six years ago, Snoop was hit by a car and Dr. Walter took care of him. Snoop has done well because he got such good care. Snoop is getting older and I am aware of the inevitable facts of aging. I am grateful that Dr. Walter and American Veterinary Services will take care of us. I highly recommend them.
