I had a late afternoon emergency on a Sunday with my dog Trooper. American Veterinary Hospital was very kind and accommodating and saw Trooper right away. Dr. Lindsey put our minds at ease and Trooper received proper care, meds and tests. We had an excellent caring experience from the initial phone call, exam and when we checked out. I can honestly say we have found a new vet for our fur baby. Thank you Dr. Lindsey and Staff💙🙏🏽☝🏽

As a comprehensive "Pet Hospital," American Veterinary Hospital of Simi Valley offers a wide range of veterinary services, with a strong emphasis on emergency and diagnostic capabilities. Their core strength lies in providing "same day emergency care," recognizing that "emergencies don't wait and neither should you." This includes rapid assessment, appropriate testing, and immediate treatment. Specifically, their diagnostic services are robust, featuring complete in-house diagnostics with "cutting-edge equipment and an on-site laboratory." This allows for quick and accurate results for various blood screens (liver enzyme, pancreatic, renal profiles, complete blood counts, general chemistries, blood gases), and tests for specific conditions like FelV/FIV in cats and Parvovirus in dogs. They also utilize advanced imaging technologies, including digital radiology (X-rays) for detecting skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage, foreign bodies, and dental disease, and ultrasound for real-time imaging of internal organs and the heart (echocardiograms). The fact that pets show rapid improvement after treatment ("My pup felt better after her first dosage of medicine and now a couple days later is back to her normal goofy self") further reinforces the effectiveness of their care. The willingness of clients to switch vets and commit to returning for routine check-ups underscores the exceptional level of satisfaction and confidence instilled by their service.

This type of offer encourages new pet owners to experience their quality of care firsthand. The overwhelmingly positive and heartfelt client testimonials, such as "we have found a new vet for our fur baby" and "Highly recommended and we are so happy with our choice," serve as powerful word-of-mouth marketing, which is often the most effective form of promotion in the veterinary industry. Immediate appointment availability on a Sunday for an emergency with my dog and also appropriately affordable! Dr. Abbott was absolutely amazing and trustworthy. She was well versed in the knowledge of my dog's breed and personality which allowed her to conduct her assessment accordingly. She was very thorough, explaining the process as she went along and deciding which approach was best suited for the situation at the time. My pup felt better after her first dosage of medicine and now a couple days later is back to her normal goofy self (pictures attached). Overall, I felt very comfortable and will be returning for a checkup next week. Going forward I will definitely be bringing my dog back here for routine check ups, etc. Thank you Dr. Abbott and the entire staff of American Veterinary Hospital!

Let me just start this post by saying that I have taken my boy to this vet in the past and was unhappy with their services, but because of this seemed to be an emergency with no time to be wasted. I came home from work to find my dog, Buddy, unable to stand, swaying side to side, and drooling uncontrollably. Naturally, I rushed him to the nearest vet that came to mind- American Veterinary Hospital. They helped me carry him from the car and then held him in the waiting room while I wept uncontrollably and was begging that they help him. Instead of first asking me if he had been seen there before, they made me fill out ‘new patient’ paperwork until I realized what the papers were and told them that he had been here in the past; wasting possibly precious time. Next, they informed me that before they could do absolutely anything for him, I would have to make a $700 deposit. “You won’t help him until I pay 700 dollars?” I pleaded. “No.” They responded, as they stood there holding my boy in the waiting room. Side comment; this was during NORMAL business hours. I paid the money and they finally took him to the back to got him started on fluids and began to run tests. After spending just below $1,000 on the visit, I was told that it’s either ‘an inflamed nerve, or a brain tumor’ and to monitor him for the next few days. What exactly did I spend $993 on if you can’t even tell me what the hell just happened? Two DRASTICALLY different conditions with no actual answer. Now here’s the worst part of the experience… upon getting home, I was trying to get him as comfortable in bed as I possibly could, as he was still extremely dizzy and unable to position himself comfortably. He began to wince as I moved him around, and that’s when I realized that they had left his IV port inserted. They did not mention anything about this. I called them to ask what the deal was with this port and after passing me off from person to person, their response was “ oh, that’s common practice. You can either bring him back in or remove yourself.” I’m obviously not going to bring him back in after just getting him back home, so I removed it myself, which I was in no way comfortable with. Once I had removed it, I noticed that it had been completely bent out of shape while in his vein, due to me moving him around so much. I informed them that whether or not this is common practice to leave that in place, the pet parent should at least be advised that it is still in place. They didn’t apologize. They didn’t take responsibility. Absolutely no accountability was taken. I later got a phone call from the vet who had seen him and he told me that the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about, and so that’s why she seemed unconcerned. I expressed to him that this was not common practice, and that I was very upset. His response? “Well you have much bigger things to worry about with your dog”. Edit to add : after taking him to his regular vet, the incredible Conejo Valley Vet, they were able to tell me what happened and help me further. And after showing them the photos and sharing this experience, they were baffled and apologized for this place’s lack of compassion and work ethic.

I was relived to have been able to take in my 12 year old 'puppy' for a dental cleaning and extractions after an appointment fell through with another vet. Noel and Ivan and Dr. Ekladios and the gentleman working the front desk make an exceptional team. I am beyond satisfied, happy, feeling blessed and grateful with their expertise and customer service. It's been about a week since the appointment and my doggo, Goten, has had a successful recovery following several extractions. Thank you team! P.S. husband and I appreciate the cool art that was made on his compression band for our Dragon Ball Z inspired pup.

I had a great experience at American Veterinary Hospital of Simi Valley. Dr.Ekladios calmly and carefully evaluated my dog after she was bit by another dog. He was incredibly knowledgeable and made me feel more at ease during and after the appointment. Noelle, the tech that helped me, was extremely helpful and caring with my dog, Freya. She was patient, knowledgeable, and made sure Freya was comfortable throughout the visit. I truly appreciate the kindness and professionalism of the staff. Highly recommend.
