Nov 07, 2024 · Nancy FischerAlvin Animal Clinic was highly recommended by a friend who had worked there many years back. We had already sought answers for a difficult diagnosis from 2 other vets for what caused our beagle to go blind at 8 years old and some other behavioral issues we noticed. We are so grateful for Alvin Animal Clinic helping us to get answers to understand and treat our pup! Saved us a lot of money and a trip into Houston (plus they were quick, kind, and spent a ton of time answering our questions!) Thank you Alvin Animal Clinic.
Oct 31, 2024 · Jennifer HolmanI was given a $1,350 quote to remove a growth on my chihuahua's paw at Alvin Animal Clinic. I canceled the appointment. I went to a vet I had used in the past. He was sure the growth was benign and could remove it and neuter my dog for $350. He's going to do both procedures at the same time so Charlie only has to have put under anesthesia once. Look up other vets in Alvin so you can save time and money.
Mar 01, 2025 · Lisa BonesOur dog is a patient of Dr. Henshaw. We recently experienced a minor emergency with him, and called the clinic to see if we could get him seen there versus taking him to an unfamiliar animal ER. Despite it being a very busy Friday morning, they were able to squeeze us in almost immediately and got our boy, Duncan, into their very capable & compassionate hands. He ended up having to stay for a few hours for some testing. While he was in their care, we received multiple DETAILED updates on his status. Dr. Henshaw and Sam were especially patient with our thorough questions, taking care to answer every single one! I deeply believe a dog will tell you everything you need to know about a Vet Clinic when you pick them up after a prolonged stay. Our boy definitely had the time of his life up there, despite enduring multiple x-rays and a barium study. He LOVES the staff and they love him back! From the receptionists, the technicians, and the doctors, you can expect professionalism, kindness and empathy...which is everything you want in a veterinarian. THANK YOU to everyone at Alvin Animal Clinic!!!!!
May 03, 2024 · Ashley HamerThe very first time I brought one of my pets here. Was my elder female cat. It was a 3/4 hour wait as I called in the day before. fine. The next time I tried to bring our new cat to be seen was in sept. They didn’t have availability for a weekend so they recommended their sister location paws and claws. fine as I needed new kitten to be seen immediately since this was a cat that was found and could not risk my two elder cats health. (Unhappy experience at paws and claws) I still opted to make an appt for kittens vaccines at this location it’s close to me. I asked about getting kitten spayed. They said he would have to have his shots then a booster shot then we will go from there. never heard of a booster since my other cats never had to do that when they were kittens. fine. Took him in to get a booster. Tech said his temp was elevated. So it turned into an illness check up. fine. Doctor came in. Let me know his temp is elevated by one degree he cannot get a booster. She checked his eyes ears and said in one ear so was prescribed medicine. Recommended an extensive amount of tests which would spike my payment a few hundred. I asked her will this postpone his surgery as I am worried about him being at age to spray. She proceeded with was more of rocking front to back getting on her heels and toes and firmly saying “his health is a priority and I don’t want him to die!”… all in front of my 5 year old. I responded with okay. just asking since my two cats that I’ve had for 15 years have never gone through this. I mean why insinuate. Then when it was time for me to leave the tech said ok you’re free to go and left the door wide open while my cat wasn’t secure. I put him back in the carrier and as we were walking they immediately stopped me and said bc he had an unknown illness I can’t just walk out and need to stay in the room. So me my daughter and my cat went back in to the room. Door still open. A different tech eventually said you can go but you need to leave your cat here bc he is “sick” so I responded with okay sorry (I’m a customer with a first time experience like this of course idk your policy and procedure). Paid my fine felt like I had to explain myself on why I can’t afford the extensive testing. And we walked out seeing everyone else unmasked lol! My poor kitten was shaking so bad the entire time. eventually received a courtesy call from a male from the office about surgery. I asked him are you sure because I recently took my cat and they said he has to take medicine and surgery is postponed. He tells me I don’t see any notes so he is good to go. I show up at 7:05 on date. Doctor passed by me a few times. After 30 minutes I finally get sent to a room. When the other two drop offs were in and out within 10 minutes) A tech goes over surgery paper work with me. Goes back out. said doctor stopped her in hallway and mentioned fluffy not having a booster and fever from last time. I told her yes I asked during the courtesy call She did apologize for the miscommunication and that the male did not give the right information. I’m sure he did do his job.(Don’t throw an innocent employee under the bus). I was very very upset because my young cat was shaking severely from being there. tech said I’d have to wait for a follow up appt and would I like to schedule or call at a later time. Of course.. I told her no I will not make another appt. The fact that the doctor stared into the room but didn’t even have the professional courtesy to come in and talk to me just spoke volumes! By the time I was done dealing with them it was 7:55 and of course I had to tell my boss I’d be late for work because of this. Every single experience has been off and I kept telling myself this is a coincidence surely I’ve found a great place for three of my cats.. after all of these interactions on different occasions it just seems that this doctor does not want to provide service to me and my pets for whatever reason. I really do not recommend this location or their sister location. Only a few of their techs are kind and courteous.
