If you want affordable pet care and honest communication. This is not the place for you! Unfortunately, I had a very poor experience at Alta Bluff Animal Hospital. I was charged almost $400 dollars for a check up, heart worm prevention and 4 vaccinations for my 15 pound Aussiedoodle. I was told at that appointment that the vet would like to split up the vaccinations. I was told that it would be easier on my puppy to do 2 vaccines now and 2 later and that I would not be charged for splitting it up and coming in later. However, at my later visit for the rest of my vaccinations I was charged an additional $125 dollars. They did not listen when I explained what the vet had told me. They insisted on further payment. I don't recommend this facility.

Alta Bluff Animal Hospital Introduce

Welcome to Alta Bluff Animal Hospital, a Pet Hospital located at 3130 New Berlin Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32226, USA. You can reach them at (904) 757-6000 or their mobile number +1 904-757-6000. Alta Bluff Animal Hospital offers veterinary care services for pets.

Based on recent customer reviews, there are significant concerns regarding the affordability and transparency of services at Alta Bluff Animal Hospital. One reviewer stated that it is not the place for affordable pet care and honest communication. Another customer detailed an experience where they were charged a substantial amount for a check-up and vaccinations, and then faced an unexpected additional charge for the follow-up vaccination appointment, contradicting what they were initially told.

Furthermore, there are reports of unprofessional behavior from the staff answering the phone. One long-term customer, while noting past reliability, described the phone staff as "seriously disturbed." Another reviewer recounted a distressing experience when calling for an emergency visit for their cat, where the staff member, after stating no availability, made an inappropriate and laughing remark about the potential loss of the cat's eye. This behavior was described as unhinged and led the customer to decide to seek veterinary care elsewhere due to a lack of trust.

In summary, while Alta Bluff Animal Hospital has reportedly been a regular vet for some in the past, recent feedback raises serious concerns about pricing practices, communication, and the professionalism of at least one member of their phone staff. Potential clients may want to consider these reviews when making decisions about their pet's care.

Alta has been our regular vet for over 10 years. Have always been reliable for our pet care, but whoever is answering their phone is a seriously disturbed individual. We called to make an emergency visit, as our cat’s face was swollen and can’t open his eye. They let us know they didn’t have availability (totally fine, it was last minute anyways) and said would provide us with a list of other vets. Unfortunately, she didn’t forget to include “I would get him checked out soon, wouldn’t want him to loose an eye” LAUGHING!? WHY would you say that to someone who is calling for an emergency visit?? Completely inappropriate, unhinged behavior. We are already beyond stressed trying to find a vet. Whoever is answering the phones needs a reality check before they pull that on the wrong person. We will be relocating to another vet. I do not feel safe trusting this place with my pets anymore.

This vet was very caring when we had to put my dog little guy down on 9/26 gave us time with him and to say good bye never rushed us. They handled everything with the cremation and getting him back was two weeks which is decent time. His box and card from the pet funeral home was very nice.

We have been using Alta Bluff Animal Hospital since Holly Berry was just a puppy. She is familiar with the staff (more so than me since it was during the pandemic). Recently, we had an ER visit with a follow up with Dr. Reinhardt. Being a nervous furmom, they were kind enough to work me into their schedule on a very busy Monday. I cannot say enough kind things from the reception staff (Taylor), and vet assistants (Joan). (I'm sorry I can't remember everyone's name). All of you were extremely helpful and considerate of my feelings. As well as the care you provide Holly. It is so hard to know who to trust when it comes to the care of your pets. In my opinion, Alta Bluff did go above and beyond the call of duty. They definitely have my vote of confidence.

We have lived in jax for 4 years and luckily haven't needed to come here too often until this past year. One of our girls was starting to have tail issues and she wouldn't leave it alone, and our fluffy man had a partial blockage and bladder issues. Dr. Reinhardt had been down right amazing, squeezing us in so we didn't have to go an er vet, and doing everything within his power to help my babies get through their issues and illnesses. The staff is by far some of the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met. I am so thankful that we live so close and started coming here a few years ago. Yall have truly been a blessing to my family and I. Thank you for being amazing! 💯/10 rating!
