The entire staff at Alexander Animal Hospital is amazing. The care is exceptional. They listen to pet owners’/parents’ concerns and advocate for the well being of the pet. One of our frenchies was having some major issues with a skin infection vs focal seizures. They have been trialing different things, and helping the situation since it occurred. I called and asked if they could do something else to possibly help. They listened, got us in the next day, and pretty sure fixed the issue. It’s very easy to get an appointment, and they are reasonably priced, unlike other vets around town. I highly recommend Alexander Animal Hospital.

Sep 13, 2024 · Megan JendrossekI’ve been going to this clinic for nearly 8 years now and even though I moved over an hour away my pets still come back here! The staff are amazing and Dr.A and Dr.Mason always work with me and go out of their way to help me and my pets! I do not recommend anyone else ever!
Nov 26, 2024 · Mariah Johnston2024 UPDATE: Well, to say I am disappointed in Alexander Animal Hospital and Eric Alexander is an understatement. I have been bringing my four cats here for the entire three years since I moved to the area, and was generally satisfied with the service I received, although the care and service we received were nothing to write home about. Then, everything changed; my cat got really sick, twice. First, during 2023, Eric Alexander gave my cat Methimazole to treat her hyperthyroidism he was able to diagnose from her labs. My cat had severe side effects as a result of the medication, was throwing up everywhere, stopped eating, had dry heaves, and became severely depressed and lethargic, which is uncharacteristic for her. I tried calling Alexander Animal Hospital for advice and they would not give me any advice on what might be causing the cat to react this way nor what to do. To add insult to injury, Eric Alexander flat out REFUSED to speak with me on the phone. So, I called my old veterinarian out of Baltimore, who advised me over the phone what to do. Alexander cost me almost $1,000 in emergency vet bills (I took the cat to the ER Vet in Columbia) because Eric Alexander prescribed too high a dose of Methimazole for my cat and would not simply have the cat seen back and adjust the dosage. Next, my cat got sick again this year. You would think I had learned my lesson last year but no, I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt. The cat was so sick she would not eat and was losing significant weight. I took her to Alexander and they COULD NOT DIAGNOSE her. They simply gave me an appetite stimulant and sent me on my way. The cat would SLOBBER and DROOL when I gave her the medicine so I could no longer administer it to her. I noticed the cat was losing even more weight so what to do? I took her to ANOTHER vet to try (again, unsuccessfully) to find out what was wrong with my cat. At least they gave me an appetite stimulant the cat could tolerate. However, and here's the kicker: As a result of taking one of my four cats to another vet for diagnosis, Eric Alexander deactivated my entire account with them and refuses to see ANY of my cats. I asked them to administer subcutaneous fluids to my dying cat and they refused. I find this reaction to be quite immature and unprofessional. My advice? If you have a dog, they might be a good vet. My neighbor told me they were great at euthanizing his elderly dog. If you have a cat, however, I strongly advise AGAINST bringing your cat to Alexander Animal Hospital. Locally, I suggest Huffard and for cat experts I recommend Mid Atlantic Cat Hospital in Queenstown on the Eastern Shore. ---- I’ve been to this vet twice now and so far, so good. They haven’t required anything outrageous of me or made any outrageous claims about my pet’s health, they have parking in front of their storefront, the location is convenient (right on Ritchie Hwy), and the staff so far seem nice. Dr Alexander does not beat around the bush, he tells you straight; which I like. He also makes himself available by phone at night and on weekends, for emergencies. He once stitched up my pet who had a 3-inch gash on their leg, and it did not get infected and it healed quickly.
Nov 07, 2024 · Monster PoppiesWHAT A TOTAL LIE!!!!. You never talked to me about anything. How can you stand there and lie like that. We never discussed that at all. What I said was true. You looked at Henry and said, give him chicken and rice. Never checked his breathing. You should be ashamed of yourself making up stories like that to make you look good. I showed my wife what you said and she couldn't believe that. How you could post something like this and tell a lie is horrible. Don't worry about me I am fine, have a new dog but will never forget what you done and continue to spread the word. Don't worry about me, its you I am worried about. You might need the support group. Been over 28 months and think about him every day but mostly what you done. Its hard to believe 28 months has going by and feel so empty. This should of never happened. I will never forget what Dr. Alexander did to my dog. You can take all these 5 stars reviews and throw them out the window. I know what he did to my dog. He has a lot to learn about the word caring, if he did Henry would still be here. I will never let you forget what you did to the day I die and will spread the word to every site I can find and every person. I will post this every month. The pain just won't go away. I look at his picture everyday and just cry. I walk around the house thinking about him all the time and looking at places where he should be. Today I gave away to Barcs, his beds, toys and other things. Something's I kept like his collar, scarf and the blanket he slept with for the last 14 years. It was so hard giving them away, but I know they are going somewhere where other dogs can use them. I feel so empty, like I lost a son. Only dog lovers would know this. If only he cared, Henry would still be here. Not knowing what happen is why I feel the way I do. Just a simple examination, things could of been different. I will never forget what he did to my dog. He has to live with this for the rest of his life. The way he runs his business he properly doesn't care. Everything is on a time schedule. Read other reviews. I have had many dogs and many vets. Usually I see Dr. Greenwood who is as compassionate as you can be. She has really been great with my dog in the last few months. The other day Henry was not feeling well and had trouble walking. Dr. Greenwood was not there so I saw Dr. Alexander. Showed no feeling at all, like I was a number. Everything was like rush rush rush. Some of the Yelp comments said the same thing. He never takes the time to listen to you explaining what is wrong. I told him everything what was going on and he said you are taking the right medicines, open up the door and started to walk out, I had to say, is that it? He didn't even check his breathing which was bad. I told him he is not eating and he said give him chicken and rice. No kind of examination at all. Got home my friend noticed that Henrys foot was swelled, why didn't he notice that. That could of been some kind of fluid which is bad. If he took some time he would have seen that. He could learn a lot from Dr. Greenwoods manner. Would never go back to him..... Henry passed away the next day, maybe if he cared more he would still be here...... The other day we got his ashes with his name on the box, Henry Cooper. We will never forget what you did. NEVER. Just a note, the girls who work in his office are great and very helpful and seem to care a lot more than him.
Mar 10, 2025 · Gary SatoskyDr. Alexander and Staff provide compassionate care for pets and pet owners. I have found thier approach to the care of aging animals to consider quality of life over excessive testing and interventions. We came from a vet that had our pet on far too many medications, and he felt much better after we reduced and took a more watchful waiting approach. For both of our older pets we found Dr. Alexander to give us clear advice about what things we should consider and what interventions were necessary and he helped our cats have a good last 5 years. We now take our one year old cats to this office and we have had good experiences there too. Lots of gentle attention to ease fears. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that I would like to see better cooperation with patients to help them save costs on food and medication by buying them through other services that do hime delivery.
Mar 22, 2024 · Alexis GuethlerThis is the best Veterinary Hospital we’ve ever used. If I could give them a million stars I’d would. Dr. Mason and Dr. Alexander along with their staff are truly amazing! They took excellent care of our yellow lab “Apollo” for over a year. He was 14 years old, had a lot of health issues. Both Vets gave us all that extra time with him. So very grateful 🥲 My husband called Dr. Mason the other night and he stayed after hours with his wonderful staff cuz we knew it was”Apollos” time. These people are so very special. We will always remember them with love and gratitude! If you don’t change your Veterinarian services to them, I feel sorry for your pet and you as the pet owner! Thank you 🙏🏼 Dr. Mason for being you ♥️
