Welcome to Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Spay/Neuter Clinic
The Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Spay/Neuter Clinic, located at 801 Ironwood St, Muldrow, OK 74948, USA, functions as a vital component within the broader "Pet Hospital" category, albeit with a highly specialized and impactful mission. Unlike a traditional full-service veterinary clinic, Ahimsa's primary focus is on addressing pet overpopulation through a dedicated, low-cost spay/neuter program. This is complemented by their overarching mission as a rescue foundation: to place needy animals in responsible homes, provide humane education, and actively promote and facilitate spaying and neutering, recognizing that there are not enough homes for every animal born.
The name "Ahimsa" itself, derived from Sanskrit, means "non-violence" or "not to harm," embodying the foundation's core principle of compassion towards all living beings. This ethos permeates their operations, from the care given to rescued animals to the accessible services provided to the community. The clinic operates primarily on a pre-scheduled, curbside service basis for both surgeries and wellness visits, ensuring efficiency and a controlled environment.
The environment at Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Spay/Neuter Clinic is designed for efficient, high-volume, low-cost procedures, characteristic of a specialized spay/neuter facility. Operating as a curbside service primarily, direct public access inside the clinic may be limited, focusing instead on streamlined drop-off and pick-up procedures for scheduled appointments. This model helps maintain sterility and efficiency for surgical operations. The facility at 801 Ironwood St would contain:
Surgical Suite: A dedicated, sterile area equipped for high-volume spay and neuter procedures, ensuring proper anesthesia, monitoring, and surgical techniques.
Preparation and Recovery Areas: Spaces where animals are prepared for surgery and then recover safely post-procedure, with staff monitoring their well-being.
Vaccination/Wellness Area: Although focused on spay/neuter, they also offer basic wellness services, suggesting a designated space for examinations and administering vaccines.
Administrative Space: For scheduling, record-keeping, and client communication, often managed through their phone lines ((479) 651-1319) and online scheduling system.
The emphasis is on a clean, professional, and efficient environment that supports their mission of preventing pet overpopulation. For adopted animals, the "well cared for" and "healthy boys" described in a review suggest that any holding or pre-adoption care areas are maintained to high standards of animal welfare, even if not part of a public-facing clinical space.
The core services of Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Spay/Neuter Clinic revolve around preventive measures against pet overpopulation and essential wellness for animals within their care or accessing their clinic:
Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Surgeries: This is their flagship service. They provide affordable canine and feline spay and neuter procedures. The cost includes the surgery itself and a post-surgery pain injection. Additional charges apply for dogs over 100 pounds. They also offer gland expression and nail trims as add-on services during surgery.
Vaccinations: Offering key vaccinations for dogs (Bordetella, DHPP, Rabies, Lepto) and cats at low costs. These are crucial for preventing common infectious diseases.
Parasite Testing and Prevention: This includes Heartworm testing for dogs, and providing heartworm prevention medications (like Tri Heart) and flea/tick prevention (like Vectra and Bravecto for dogs, Catego and Bravecto for cats).
Microchipping: A vital service for pet identification, which is part of their adoption package and likely offered as a standalone service.
Wellness Visits: Offered for unaltered pets under or over 6 months, with a fee that can be applied towards surgery cost if scheduled within 30 days, encouraging full preventive care.
Post-Operative Care Guidance: They provide clear instructions for post-surgery care, including activity restrictions, wound care, and emergency contact for surgery-related complications, demonstrating responsibility for their surgical patients.
Pet Adoption Services: As a rescue foundation, they extensively prepare animals for adoption. Pets are temperament tested, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella), tested for heartworms, on heartworm prevention, treated for parasites, and microchipped. They also provide teeth cleaning if needed for adopted pets.
Humane Education: A core part of their mission, aimed at raising public awareness about the plight of homeless animals and the necessity of spaying and neutering.
It's important to note that while they offer essential wellness and some emergency contact for surgery-related issues, they are not a full-service emergency veterinary hospital for all types of critical care. Their focus is specifically tailored to their mission of population control and responsible pet placement.
Mission-Driven Operation: At its heart, Ahimsa is a non-profit organization driven by the mission of "Ahimsa: Kindness to All Life." This dedication to preventing animal suffering through population control and responsible rehoming is a defining characteristic.
Low-Cost Model: Their efficiently run low-cost spay/neuter program makes crucial veterinary services accessible to a wider demographic, reducing financial barriers to responsible pet ownership.
Comprehensive Pre-Adoption Care: Animals adopted from Ahimsa receive extensive medical preparation, including temperament testing, spay/neuter, full vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention, de-worming, microchipping with lifetime registration, and even teeth cleaning if necessary. This ensures adopted pets are healthy and ready for their new homes.
Curbside Service: The operational model of curbside service for clinic appointments highlights efficiency and potentially minimizes stress for animals and owners during drop-off and pick-up.
Volunteer-Run: Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. This means there are no paid employees, and all efforts are driven by compassionate individuals dedicated to animal welfare, ensuring that donations and service fees directly support their mission.
Focus on Prevention: The clinic emphasizes preventative care through vaccinations and parasite control, reducing the incidence of costly and severe illnesses.
Commitment to Animal Welfare: Beyond medical services, the foundation actively promotes responsible pet ownership and humane education, aiming to change public interaction with animals from exploitation to respect and compassion.
The "promotional information" for Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Spay/Neuter Clinic largely stems from its impactful work and the positive experiences of its beneficiaries. Key aspects include:
Adoption Success Stories: The review about "two wonderful well cared for dogs" speaks volumes about the quality of care and preparation that adopted animals receive, encouraging others to adopt from Ahimsa.
Community Impact: The direct plea in a review to help a skinny dog near their location highlights the community's perception of Ahimsa as a compassionate organization ready to help animals in need, reinforcing their rescue mission.
Transparency in Services and Costs: Their website clearly lists surgery costs, vaccination prices, and prevention products, allowing pet owners to make informed decisions. This transparency builds trust.
Educational Outreach: Promoting the benefits of spaying/neutering (decreased cancer risk, reduced disease risk, better companion behavior) serves as a vital public service and encourages participation in their core program.
Volunteer Ethos: Highlighting their all-volunteer status can resonate with donors and foster a perception of dedication and efficient use of resources.
Accessibility: The availability of a low-cost clinic makes vital services accessible, which in itself is a strong draw for local pet owners who might face financial constraints for full-price veterinary care.
In essence, the Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Spay/Neuter Clinic at 801 Ironwood St, Muldrow, OK, is more than just a "Pet Hospital" that provides services; it is a dedicated animal welfare organization at the forefront of the fight against pet overpopulation and animal suffering. Through its low-cost spay/neuter programs, comprehensive pre-adoption care, and unwavering commitment to humane education, Ahimsa offers invaluable services to the Muldrow community, embodying its namesake principle of non-violence towards all life.

Jan 09, 2025 · Cynthia Haley-SeikelHello, Can you please help this beautiful dog? Is around 5 miles from your location, Is in this location Pilot 302 West Ray fine boulevard, I_40 exit 325 Roland, OK Dog looks skinny. Please 🙏 help him 🙏 😢
Dec 19, 2024 · Dora AlvarengaCan’t say enough good things about this place. They are thorough and straightforward about applicant requirements. The process was easy, but also suggests they really care for the animals. The facility is nicer than what you find in many larger cities. Muldrow should be grateful to have this resource. Teresa has communicated well throughout and I’m happy one of their pets found a home with me.
Nov 18, 2021 · DerekThey were amazing with my furbabies! I couldn't afford what my vet was going to charge for all their shots and spay/neuter. I had my 2 dogs fixed (brother/sister) so I'm very grateful.
Mar 01, 2025 · HnplaceI tried to adopt a dog from them. I got a single response in a three week period. I emailed asking for an update, no response. I called and was told I'd get an email that day. 7:56pm the email said the dog was already being adopted by someone else. Fast forward a couple weeks and they email me about another dog. Teresa (Founder) and I email several times. I asked about meeting the dogs and she asked if I could on a specific date and time. On that day, I drive 2 hours to their facility and they are closed. No answer to calls, no response to email. I am sitting there for over an hour just waiting. I finally get an email after I get home saying I was not approved because the vet I used for a different dog, many years ago, had very little information. And the veterinarian is a reflection of how a pet is treated. Don't waste your efforts or time with place. Other reviews have mentioned the long, slow process of communicating with them. Believe these.
