I have taken several pets to Adirondack Veterinary. They are always wonderful to my animals and they have gotten great care. The Vet is a little abrasive at times and seems judgemental but I think it's because veterinary workers see a lot of abuse of animals. I take it in stride. The prices are always going to be more than on line. I discuss the animals needs and determine what I need to buy. They are experts at their craft, so if they told me my pet has a rash from fleas, I would believe them. My pets are very healthy and happy 馃槉 I will continue to use them.

Welcome to Adirondack Veterinary Service
This introduction addresses Adirondack Veterinary Service, a pet hospital located at 5500 Rome-Taberg Rd, Rome, NY 13440, USA. They can be contacted at (315) 337-4160 or their mobile number +1 315-337-4160. Operating as a "Pet Hospital," Adirondack Veterinary Service likely provides a range of medical and preventative care for animals in the Rome, NY, area.
Information regarding the specific environment of Adirondack Veterinary Service is limited in the provided reviews. One reviewer mentions bringing "several pets" there, implying a physical location where appointments are conducted. However, details about the clinic's ambiance, cleanliness, or facilities are not explicitly described. Therefore, a comprehensive description of the clinic's environment cannot be objectively constructed based solely on this information.
The services offered at Adirondack Veterinary Service appear to encompass general veterinary care for pets. One reviewer mentioned taking their animals for care and trusting the veterinarian's expertise in diagnosing conditions like flea rashes. Another reviewer sought care for a new puppy with tick bites and Giardia exposure, indicating that the clinic addresses parasitic infections and provides timely appointments for such issues. It can be inferred that standard services such as examinations, diagnoses, treatments for illnesses and injuries, vaccinations, and potentially parasite prevention are offered. However, a comprehensive list of all available services cannot be definitively compiled from the provided reviews.
Several features of Adirondack Veterinary Service emerge from the customer reviews, presenting a somewhat mixed picture. A consistently praised feature is the helpfulness and kindness of the staff. One reviewer specifically appreciated the staff for getting them an appointment quickly and described them as "very helpful and kind." The veterinary technicians also appear to be involved in patient handling, although one reviewer reported a negative experience regarding restraint techniques and the inability to comfort their distressed pet during examination.
A significant point of contention, however, is the demeanor and communication style of the veterinarian. One long-term client acknowledges that the vet can be "a little abrasive at times" and "seems judgemental" but attributes this to the potential exposure to animal abuse that veterinary professionals may witness. This reviewer seems willing to overlook this aspect due to their perception of the veterinarian's expertise. In contrast, a newer client had a strongly negative experience with the veterinarian, describing them as rude, uncordial, and condescending. This reviewer felt judged as a pet owner, criticized for their dog's origin and grooming, and felt upcharged for recommended products. The lack of a proper introduction from the veterinarian also contributed to a negative impression.
Another feature mentioned is the pricing of products compared to online retailers. One reviewer acknowledged that prices at the clinic would likely be higher than online sources and stated they prefer to discuss their animal's needs and decide what to purchase based on the veterinarian's recommendations. Conversely, the negative review specifically mentioned a significant price difference for a chewable medication, contributing to the feeling of being upcharged.
No specific promotional information or special offers for local users are mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to include any details about current promotions or discounts that Adirondack Veterinary Service might be offering.
Given the contrasting experiences shared in the reviews, local users in Rome, NY, considering Adirondack Veterinary Service should weigh the positive feedback regarding the staff's kindness and the potential for timely appointments against the concerns raised about the veterinarian's communication style and perceived judgment. The difference in opinions suggests that individual experiences may vary. Potential clients might consider seeking clarification on pricing for medications and procedures and may want to assess their comfort level with the veterinarian's communication during an initial consultation if possible.
In conclusion, Adirondack Veterinary Service in Rome, NY, appears to have a helpful and kind support staff who are appreciated by customers. However, the reviews present conflicting experiences regarding the veterinarian's demeanor, with one long-term client finding their expertise outweighing their abrasiveness, while a newer client reported feeling judged, disrespected, and potentially overcharged. This mixed feedback suggests that while the clinic may provide competent veterinary care, the interpersonal interactions with the veterinarian could be a significant factor for potential clients to consider. Without further information, local users are advised to consider these contrasting perspectives when making decisions about their pet's healthcare at Adirondack Veterinary Service.

May 09, 2025 路 Karen LykeI really was appreciative of the staff and them getting me in fast. I didn鈥檛 know what to expect for my first visit with a puppy, that I have had only for 2 months. My poor baby had 3 tick bites and was exposed to Giardia. So again I was appreciative to get in so fast to address these issues. The staff is very helpful and kind. The issue was with the veterinarian. I felt very judged and he made me feel like a horrible dog owner. Asked me where I got my dog and if the place I got him was clean. Did not introduce himself to me and was not cordial at all when giving advice. He was very rude and made condescending comments about the care I gave my dog and about his long poodle hair. He also was very rude when I asked what a basic vaccine was for. I felt like I was up charged for everything. He wanted to get my dog on a chewable that I can get online for $30 for $56. My dog was very distressed the whole visit, the tech was putting him in a choke hold and they didn鈥檛 want me to comfort him. Then someone made the comment that I needed to bring him to puppy school. So needless to say I switched vets and I will not be going back there again. Very disappointed.
Jun 07, 2024 路 Erica BrockwayI have three rescue German Shepherds with one having historic reactivity issues. Other vets wanted her drugged before examinations. Adirondack Veterinary took the time needed to get properly introduced, allowing the exam to go forward without any issues. They've spayed and neutered both my male and female rescue puppies without any issue. I find the vet and staff to be caring and informative.

Feb 02, 2024 路 Brenda MarkesI highly recommend this vet. International paperwork and health certificates are a huge complicated struggle. However, after one attempt with a different vet, we found them and they fit us in the next day. They spent hours of their day, for something very last minute and for new customers, to fix everything. They communicated with me every step of the way. Lovely staff, lovely vet, and it鈥檚 safe to say we found a new place to bring our pets. All around very kind and helpful people.
