Worst place ever. Every time I go there I get charged for an exam/office call. I never get a full exam. The doctor goes straight to the problem and never checks anything else on my dogs. I have to request he listens to my dogs heart and lungs. Never checks ears or eyes, never palpates the abdomen, nothing! God forbid you want the ears checked while you’re there, that will be a separate charge. And don’t even get me started on them sharing their records. I’ve been referred to a specialist by them twice and the specialty hospital can not get records sent over. We boarded our dogs and they wouldn’t give me or send me records for the boarding facility. They are never there when they say according to the hours on the website. They never change their voicemail if they’re closed for something. Anesthesia wise, I asked what they use and they said they mask all the animals down with gas only, no matter the age, weight or diagnosis of the pet. That’s not right and is very old school. My one dog has severe reactions to antihistamines where it drops her blood pressure and she faints. He keeps prescribing them for her allergies and I have to remind him she can’t have them. It should be written in big bold letters as a reaction. They can’t seem to keep a regular staff. Every time I go there, there’s all new staff. Red flags all over the place. Went to another vet and they hear horror stories about them. I will never ever be back!!!!!!

Welcome to Acton Veterinary Clinic

Acton Veterinary Clinic is a pet hospital situated at 32033 Crown Valley Rd in Acton, CA, serving the local community. As a pet hospital, the clinic's intended purpose is to provide veterinary services and potentially offer related goods for sale to pet owners in Acton and the surrounding areas. The scope of these services typically includes the care and medical treatment of companion animals, primarily dogs and cats.

Due to the limited positive information available from online reviews, providing a detailed description of the clinic's environment, services, and features based on positive attributes is challenging. The existing reviews primarily highlight significant negative experiences, which must be acknowledged to provide an objective introduction based on the available internet information.

One customer review expresses considerable dissatisfaction with the level of examination provided at Acton Veterinary Clinic. This review claims that comprehensive physical examinations are not routinely performed, with the veterinarian allegedly focusing solely on the presenting problem and neglecting other aspects of the pet's health, such as listening to the heart and lungs, checking ears and eyes, or palpating the abdomen, unless specifically requested by the owner. The reviewer also alleges that requesting additional checks, such as ear examinations, may incur separate charges.

Furthermore, the same review raises serious concerns regarding the clinic's record-sharing practices. The customer states that on two occasions, when referred to a specialist, the specialty hospital was unable to obtain the necessary records from Acton Veterinary Clinic. A similar issue was reported concerning boarding records, which the clinic allegedly failed to provide to the boarding facility or the owner.

The clinic's operational reliability is also questioned in the reviews. One customer reports inconsistencies between the clinic's actual operating hours and those listed on their website. Additionally, the reviewer notes that the voicemail message is not updated to reflect closures or changes in availability, potentially leading to frustration for pet owners seeking urgent care or information.

A significant concern regarding the clinic's medical practices is raised in one review concerning anesthesia protocols. The customer alleges that the clinic uses gas mask anesthesia for all animals, regardless of age, weight, or pre-existing medical conditions. The reviewer asserts that this is an outdated and potentially unsafe practice. This is a critical piece of feedback that warrants serious consideration for pet owners concerned about anesthetic safety.

Another serious medical concern raised by the same reviewer involves a pet with severe adverse reactions to antihistamines, causing a drop in blood pressure and fainting. Despite this known and severe reaction, the reviewer claims that the veterinarian at Acton Veterinary Clinic repeatedly prescribed antihistamines for the pet's allergies and required constant reminders of the contraindication. The reviewer also notes a lack of prominent documentation of this severe allergy in the pet's records.

The stability of the clinic's staff is also questioned in the negative review, with the customer reporting a consistently high turnover rate, encountering new staff members at each visit. This lack of consistent staffing can potentially impact the continuity of care and the familiarity between the staff, the pet, and the owner.

Finally, the severely negative review mentions that another veterinarian shared "horror stories" about Acton Veterinary Clinic, further contributing to the reviewer's decision not to return. This anecdotal information, while not directly verifiable, adds to the overall negative impression conveyed in this particular review.

The second customer review expresses a fundamental issue with communication. This reviewer states that despite multiple attempts to contact Acton Veterinary Clinic over several years, primarily due to its convenient location, they have never successfully communicated with anyone at the clinic. The reviewer questions whether the clinic is even operational, highlighting a significant potential barrier for new clients attempting to establish care or seek assistance, especially in emergency situations where timely communication is crucial.

Given the overwhelmingly negative nature of the available online reviews and the serious concerns raised regarding examination thoroughness, record management, operational reliability, anesthesia protocols, management of known severe drug reactions, and basic communication, it is impossible to objectively describe positive features, services, or the environment of Acton Veterinary Clinic based solely on this information. No promotional information is available.

Prospective clients are strongly advised to consider this feedback carefully and conduct further thorough research before entrusting the care of their pets to Acton Veterinary Clinic. This additional research should include verifying the clinic's current operational status, directly inquiring about their examination procedures, anesthesia protocols, record-keeping practices, and communication methods. Visiting the clinic in person, if possible, and speaking directly with the veterinarian and staff may provide further insights to help make an informed decision about your pet's healthcare.

One would assume if you are calling a vet you are either a) trying to find a new vet for regular care of pets b) Need a procedure for a pet and are shopping for price or convenience or c) having a medical emergency of a pet. Now, a and b there probably is no immediate need. However, a medical emergency one would assume you would answer literally any form of communication. We've called this vet numerous times over several years simply because we live in Acton and it would be the closest vet. However, I still to have yet to actually communicate with anyone. Does this vet actually exist?

Great vet. Another dog attacked my rat terrier, causing a good amount of blood loss and large puncture wounds. They were able to see my dog within the hour.

Knowledgeable vet. My favorite part is he offered multiple solutions at different costs - didn’t present only the super expensive option. I can tell he actually cares about his patients. Editing my review: while the vet himself is great, you cannot rely on this vet to be open the hours they say they are. They were closed for over 2 weeks over the holidays with no info on when they would be open. I ran out of my cat’s medication and couldn’t get it anywhere else because it needed a prescription which they never gave me. Besides the holidays, the hours on Google maps are almost always wrong. There’s no website, no way to know when they’re actually open unless you call. And when you try calling on a normal business day and then it goes straight to voicemail with no information it’s very frustrating.

It was outrageous. They charged me $67 to " exam" my dog. When they knew the only problem was my dogs right ear. Then on TOP of that they charged me ANOTHER $55 because the "ear exam" was not included in the actual exam. So they charged me $117 for a 5 minute exam and when they were done they gave me a $271 bill. Outrageous doesn't even cover this. My pets could be on deaths door and they will not be going back there. I hope you all send a message to this place. It was just plain theft
