Unhelpful in an emergency. Not understanding the situation and the fact that I was frantic and trying to find my horse help and no one would come see him. Shamed me for not getting him care but I explained that I had called my primary vet and they brushed my emergency off. Proceeded to hang up on me and told me to get help elsewhere.

Whether your horse requires routine check-ups, specialized treatments, or surgical intervention, Abington Equine Hospital aims to be a reliable partner in their healthcare journey.

Based on available information, including customer reviews, it's important to present a balanced perspective on the environment and services offered. One review highlights a potentially negative experience regarding emergency response and communication during a critical situation. This feedback suggests that while the intention may be to provide comprehensive care, there might be areas for improvement in handling emergency calls and ensuring clear communication with distressed owners.

On the other hand, another customer review offers a contrasting positive experience, describing the facility as "excellent and refreshing." This review specifically mentions the comfortable environment for a miniature horse filly named Sugar and expresses confidence in the level of care provided. The reviewer also noted the staff's apparent affection for the animal, contributing to a sense of trust and relaxation for the owner. This positive feedback indicates that Abington Equine Hospital has the potential to provide a high standard of care and a comfortable experience for both horses and their owners.

To provide a more comprehensive understanding of Abington Equine Hospital's offerings, we can infer the types of services typically expected from a specialized equine veterinary hospital. These often include:

  • Routine and Preventative Care: This encompasses regular health examinations, vaccinations, deworming programs, and nutritional counseling tailored to the individual needs of each horse. These services are crucial for maintaining optimal health and preventing potential health issues.
  • Diagnostic Services: Equine hospitals typically offer a range of diagnostic tools, such as digital radiography, ultrasound, and laboratory services, to accurately assess a horse's condition and aid in diagnosis. These technologies are essential for identifying underlying health problems.
  • Medical Treatments: This includes the management of various medical conditions affecting horses, such as respiratory issues, gastrointestinal problems, metabolic diseases, and infectious diseases. Experienced veterinarians can provide appropriate treatment plans and ongoing care.
  • Surgical Procedures: Depending on the facility's capabilities, Abington Equine Hospital may offer a range of surgical services, from routine procedures to more complex surgeries. This could include colic surgery, soft tissue surgery, and orthopedic procedures.
  • Emergency Care: While one review raised concerns about emergency responsiveness, a fully equipped equine hospital should ideally provide timely and effective emergency services for critical situations such as injuries, severe colic, or other acute health issues. It is advisable to directly inquire about their specific emergency protocols and availability.
  • Dental Care: Equine dental health is vital for their overall well-being. Services may include routine dental exams, floating (filing sharp edges of teeth), and treatment of dental problems.
  • Reproductive Services: For breeding farms and horse owners involved in reproduction, the hospital might offer services such as artificial insemination, pregnancy diagnosis, and foaling assistance.
  • Lameness Evaluation and Treatment: Addressing lameness issues is a significant aspect of equine veterinary care. This involves thorough examinations, diagnostic imaging, and various treatment options to manage musculoskeletal problems.
